West Ham United have signed highly-rated attacker Ravel Morrison from
Manchester United
31.01.2012
West Ham United are delighted to announce the signing of highly-rated
midfielder Ravel Morrison from Manchester United. Morrison, who will
celebrate his 19th birthday on Thursday, is considered to be one of the
finest prospects to have emerged from the Red Devils' Academy in many years.
He has joined West Ham on a three and a half year contract for an
undisclosed fee. The England Under-18 international made his first-team
debut at the age of 17 in a League Cup win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in
October 2010 before helping Manchester United to win the FA Youth Cup in
2011. After making two further League Cup appearances this term and with his
contract set to expire at Old Trafford this summer, Morrison has decided to
seek regular first-team football with the Hammers. "I'm really pleased to
have signed," Morrison said. "The move has happened very quickly and I'm
looking forward to hopefully moving up to the Premier League with West Ham
soon. I'm an attacking player and I'm hoping to get the fans on their feet.
"I met with Sam Allardyce this morning and he welcomed me to the club. I
also played with Robert Hall in the England team and I know him well so that
will be really helpful to have someone here that I know."
Born in Wythenshawe in the south of Manchester, Morrison joined Manchester
United as a schoolboy and immediately caught the eye with his creative
talents.
After scoring in the FA Youth Cup against Chelsea as a 15-year-old, Morrison
signed a scholarship before penning his first professional contract on his
17th birthday.
The 2010/11 season was a memorable one for the young attacking midfielder or
deep-lying forward, who made his first-team debut before helping Manchester
United's Under-18s to lift the FA Youth Cup, scoring against Newcastle
United and Liverpool before netting twice in a 4-1 aggregate final win over
Sheffield United.
Touted as having 'the potential to be one of the real stars of his
generation' on Manchester United's official website, Morrison has also had
his talents recognised at international level, appearing for England at U16,
U17 and U18 levels and being called up for the U19 squad in November 2011.

West Ham United sign Manchester United's Ravel Morrison

West Ham United have signed Manchester United's Ravel Morrison for an
undisclosed fee. The 18-year-old midfielder, who has signed a
three-and-a-half-year deal, was the subject of a rejected bid from Newcastle
United earlier in the month. BBC Sport understands the deal does not include
a buy-back option. The highly-rated youngster, whose Old Trafford contract
would have ran out this summer, was part of United's FA Youth Cup winning
side last year. But United boss Sir Alex Ferguson recently branded
Morrison's contract demands as "unrealistic". Ferguson handed the
Wythenshawe-born player his senior debut in the Carling Cup in 2010 against
Wolves, but the youngster has also had a chequered history off the pitch.
Two days after winning the 2011 FA Cup Youth final, the 18-year-old was
fined £600 by a court for throwing his girlfriend's mobile phone through a
window during an argument. Morrison told the Hammers website: "I'm really
pleased to have signed. The move has happened very quickly and I'm looking
forward to hopefully moving up to the Premier League with West Ham soon.
"I'm an attacking player and I'm hoping to get the fans on their feet."

West Ham set to sign Bristol City striker in £2.25m deal
Published 15:55 31/01/12 By MirrorFootball
The Mirror
Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard is expected to complete a £2.25 million
move to West Ham United later today. It would mean City recouping the fee
they paid Crewe Alexandra to sign Maynard in the summer of 2008. The player
rejected a £2 million move to Wigan Athletic last week, but believes West
Ham will offer a chance of Premier League football next season. Maynard
netted 20 Championship goals in the 2008-09 season, but his career then
suffered a setback with a serious knee operation that saw him miss most of
the following campaign. This season he has netted eight times in 27
appearances.

West Ham United have confirm the arrival of Ravel Morrison on a
three-and-a-half year contract. KUMB.com revealed last night how the former
Manchester United starlet was on the verge of moving to London after the
current Premier League champions accepted a nominal fee for a player
considered to be one of the nation's brightest young stars. The 18-year-old,
who was out of contract this summer has been allowed to leave Old Trafford
after Reds boss Alex Ferguson finally lost patience with the precocious
young talent following a string of off-field misdemeanours. "I'm really
pleased to have signed," Morrison told whufc.com this evening. "The move has
happened very quickly and I'm looking forward to hopefully moving up to the
Premier League with West Ham soon."
Morrison - who has featured twice in the Carling Cup for Manchester this
season - is understood to have cost West Ham around £650,000 plus add-ons.
His capture is expected to be followed by at least two more ahead of
tonight's 11pm deadline.

West Ham have completed the double signing of Manchester United youngster
Ravel Morrison and Ricardo Vaz Te from Barnsley. Several clubs, including
Manchester City, Chelsea, Barcelona, Roma and Paris St Germain, had been
linked with midfielder Morrison but the Hammers have clinched his signature.
The 18-year-old, whose Old Trafford contract was due to expire at the end of
the season, has reportedly penned a three-and-a-half year deal at Upton
Park. Vaz Te, meanwhile, joins the Championship leaders having scored 10
goals for Barnsley this season. The 25-year-old Portuguese striker, who was
due to be out of contract at Oakwell in the summer, has previously worked
under Sam Allardyce after the Hammers boss brought him to England while in
charge of Bolton. He told Sky Sports News: "I worked with (Sam Allardyce)
before. He knows everything about me. "I didn't need much (persuading to
join). Obviously West Ham are top of the league and they're doing ever so
well. "It's a great opportunity for me. I'm still improving."

Manchester United youngster Ravel Morrison joins West Ham
TUESDAY 31 JANUARY 2012
The Independent
West Ham have confirmed the signing of teenager Ravel Morrison from Barclays
Premier League champions Manchester United for an undisclosed fee. The
18-year-old, considered to be one of the Red Devils' finest Academy products
in recent years, has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Hammers.
Speaking to West Ham's official website, England Under-18 international
Morrison said: "I'm really pleased to have signed. The move has happened
very quickly and I'm looking forward to hopefully moving up to the Premier
League with West Ham soon. "I'm an attacking player and I'm hoping to get
the fans on their feet. I met with Sam Allardyce this morning and he
welcomed me to the club. "I also played with Robert Hall in the England team
and I know him well so that will be really helpful to have someone here that
I know." Morrison's contract was due to expire in the summer and the
teenager had been offered an extension by the Old Trafford outfit. However,
United were also willing to sell the player now rather than risk losing him
to a fee that would be decided by a tribunal in the summer. The youngster -
who will be 19 on Thursday - has been mired in controversy throughout his
fledgling career and there are some on the Red Devils staff who believe his
huge potential will never be fulfilled. A member of the triumphant FA Youth
Cup-winning side last term, it was anticipated Morrison - rated as one of
the best prospects to come through the United academy in recent years -
would make a breakthrough this season. Instead, was restricted to just two
substitute appearances - both in the Carling Cup - and did not even manage a
place on the bench throughout Sir Alex Ferguson's massive injury problems.
