West Ham United remain firmly committed to the exciting legacy vision of a
multi-use, multi-sport Olympic Stadium that works for football and our fans.
As we have said and to clarify again, we are waiting for confirmation of the
Government's proposals for the new tender process. If given the opportunity,
and the conditions and terms are right, we will tender again. The club
believes our plans for the Olympic Stadium post-2012 would lead to a lasting
community and commercial success for east London and beyond, and would
benefit generations to come. We hope to get the chance to put that forward
again for consideration.

The manager discusses the season so far, the fans and the emergence of young
talent

Sam Allardyce has hailed his players for their achievements with a third of
the season gone but reminded them that there is a long way to go. "We are
taking nothing for granted," the manager said, as he took time out to
reflect on the first 16 games of the npower Championship campaign. He
believed that the fan support had played a significant role in the players
doing the business so far. He paid tribute to the 6,300 fans going to
Coventry City on Saturday week and the 4,200 heading to Reading in December,
with both allocations fully sold out well in advance. "Away from home, we
are selling out everywhere. We've had 4,000 already at many places and could
have had a lot more. We have been getting staggering support at home as well
and the Board's commitment to want to see the team back into the Premier
League by doing things like Kids for a Fiver does benefit the team.
"Everyone coming to watch wants to see the team win and play well. We are
trying to do that, particularly at home."
That combination of entertaining football and dogged defensive resilience is
a sure-fire recipe for a sustained promotion challenge - and there is a real
buzz ahead of the next home game against Derby County on Saturday 26
November. The Hammers are sitting in second position and are on track,
despite having had to cope with a run of bad luck on the injury front. It is
hoped two or three of the recent casualties will return in time for Coventry
- Guy Demel got 45 minutes this week in a development squad game - but Big
Sam is challenging whoever wears the shirt to cope with the mounting
expectation on the team's shoulders. Having seen more than 30 players either
come or go since last season, it was always going to be a tricky task to
build a squad able to instantly compete and meet fan expectation at the same
time. "It has been a difficult job. A change around through relegation and
then to deliver immediately is a massive task, which is why what we are
doing has been extremely good in terms of what the players have achieved in
such a short period of time. "We live with the expectation, and it is as big
as I expected it to be. There is no room for slip-ups. We want to get
promoted but we have a long way to go and we are taking nothing for granted.
At any period of time we could hit a bad run and we will have to cope with
that if it comes. "We are going great. We are second in the league and I am
not sure I expected us to be there this quickly. We have got there and we
have to sustain it."
New arrivals like Papa Bouba Diop, Kevin Nolan and Sam Baldock have quickly
bedded in, but the manager has not been slow to give homegrown Hammers a
chance. Callum McNaughton, Danny Potts, George Moncur and Robert Hall have
all been on the bench at least this season and others are doing well on loan
"Every club enjoys their own but none more than this one. We have had so
many high-class top quality players over the last few years. It was probably
50 per cent of the England team not so long ago. "There is an abundance of
talent that has emerged through the West Ham academy and at the moment we
have two real key players coming through in James Tomkins and Jack Collison
and hopefully there will be one or two more breaking in future. Everyone
loves their own. "The more you can produce the better but unfortunately it
is the hardest thing to do in the game today. It takes a lot of patience,
hard work and dedication."

West Ham United striker Robert Hall continued his incredible season with the
winner for the Young Lions

Robert Hall came off the bench to give England U19s a 1-0 friendly win
against Denmark in Brighton on Thursday night. The 18-year-old striker has
enjoyed a season to remember, getting six goals in ten matches at Oxford
United on loan before having his first taste of Hammers senior duty on the
bench against Bristol City earlier this month. At a sold-out Amex Stadium,
Hall came off the bench in the 60th minute and showed his intent straight
away, firing in a decent effort on goal inside a minute. He eventually broke
the deadlock on 80 minutes, continuing his fantastic scoring record for his
country.
Hall, who turned 18 last month, has plenty of Young Lions pedigree behind
him. He was a Victory Shield winner within the U16 set-up and helped England
to win the 2010 UEFA European U17 Championship. He has also been capped at
U18 level.

The Hammers have agreed to let Callum McNaughton further his League Two
education for another month

Callum McNaughton will continue his excellent experience at AFC Wimbledon
having played in their Paint Trophy quarter-final against Swindon on
Tuesday. The Hammers youngster made his 12th appearance for the Dons when
drew 1-1 before losing on penalties to Paolo Di Canio's side at the County
Ground but it will not be his last, despite rumours of a possible recall.
McNaughton has extended his stay at the south London side until 10 December
but he will not be eligible for their FA Cup match with Scunthorpe United
this weekend. Meanwhile, Frank Nouble will also not play for Gillingham in
their FA Cup tie away to Bournemouth on Saturday, and is due to head back to
the Boleyn after the League Two match at Aldershot Town on 19 November.
Dominic Vose has returned to the club after his month with non-league
Braintree Town, while Cristian Montano is also back from his stay at Swindon
Town.

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is set to step up his search for a new loan
defensive signing this week, with up to three Premier League centre-backs in
the frame to join the Hammers. It is understood that the club are interested
in bringing Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha to Upton Park, although it
is believed that there are two other stronger contenders - who are yet to be
named - also in the frame. Both of these other candidates are currently
contracted to Premier League clubs but are not playing regular first-team
football, despite having plenty of top-level experience. "My main priority
is to find a central defender to loan for the next two or three months,"
revealed Allardyce, following Saturday's 2-0 victory over Hull City.
"Abdoulaye Faye and James Tomkins were outstanding against Hull, but they
are the only two central defenders we have at the club at the moment, so I
have to fill that position and help us carry on this great run of results
that we are on."
One player that the Hammers are definitely understood to be keen on is
Swedish winger Mervan Celik. The 21-year-old currently plies his trade for
GAIS in Gothenburg and scored an impressive 14 goals last season as he
guided his club to a fifth-place finish in the Swedish top flight. Celik,
who can play on the right or left-hand side of midfield and has been capped
at under-21 level for Sweden, has been linked with Middlesbrough and Fulham,
although the Hammers have also watched him and are considering making a move
in January. There was some positive news for the Hammers on the injury front
this week, as defender Guy Demel made a welcome return from his hamstring
injury to play 45 minutes for the Development Squad in their 2-2 draw at
Gillingham. The young Hammers took the lead through Brian Montenegro, who
impressed alongside Cristian Montano, who was recalled from his loan spell
at Swindon Town a week early. After the interval - and once Demel had been
taken off - Gillingham scored twice to take a 2-1 lead. However, in the 93rd
minute, 17-year-old Danny Potts equalised from an Olly Lee free-kick.

Robert Hall came off the bench to score the winner as England Under-19s beat
Denmark 1-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion's Amex Stadium tonight. The West Ham
United youngster was brought on with 30 minutes remaining as a replacement
for Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane and made the decisive contribution with
ten minutes left on the clock. Hall is now back at Upton Park after scoring
six goals in ten outings while on loan at Oxford United earlier this season.

WEST HAM are poised to make a move for Manchester City defender Nedum
Onuoha. Onuoha, 24, has made only one appearance for City this season and is
desperate to get his career back on track. Former England Under-21 defender
Onuoha enjoyed a successful loan spell with Sunderland last season and would
be willing to go on loan again. Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is desperate to
sign another central defender after Winston Reid was ruled out for six weeks
with a dislocated shoulder. James Tomkins and Abdoulaye Faye are the only
two fit defenders and Allardyce said: "My priority is to find a central
defender on loan."
