Maynard targeting Saints bow
WHUFC.com
Nicky Maynard is itching to make his West Ham United debut against
Southampton on Tuesday
12.02.2012

Nicky Maynard has told the official matchday programme he would love nothing
more than to make his West Ham United debut in Tuesday's top-of-the-table
clash with Southampton at the Boleyn Ground. The Hammers' new No8 watched
the win over Millwall from the substitutes bench before a frozen pitch
denied him the opportunity to make his bow at Peterborough United on
Saturday. Two weeks on from his deadline day move from Bristol City and
Maynard is eager to pull on a claret and blue shirt for the first time,
having already scored in the Robins' 2-0 victory over the Saints at Ashton
Gate in November. "Hopefully I'll be involved - the sooner the better for me
because I can get to know the lads and get to play in front of the West Ham
faithful," he told the matchday programme, which will be on sale in and
around the Boleyn Ground on Tuesday. "The manager said he's bringing me in
to score goals and that I'll get all the chances I need here. That's all I
want really - to get chances and I'm sure I'll take them."

A full-length interview with Maynard is one of a host of exciting and
exclusive features to appear in the 17th issue of the 2011/12 season.
Alongside columns from Joint Chairman David Sullivan and manager Sam
Allardyce, there are exclusive interviews with midfielder Gary O'Neil, club
legend Steve Potts and Southampton greats Matthew Le Tissier and Mick
Channon. Good Beer Guide editor and season ticket holder Roger Protz reveals
the best places to drink while following the Hammers, while Evening Standard
correspondent Ken Dyer puts his case forward for the next England manager.
With a revealing interview with Under-18s winger Dominic Vose and all the
build-up to Wednesday's FA Youth Cup fifth-round tie at Chelsea, plus news
of special retail, corporate hospitality and ticketing offers, supporters
cannot afford to miss out on Tuesday's action-packed issue.

Big Sam on Posh postponement
WHUFC.com
Sam Allardyce's focus has already switched to Tuesday's npower Championship
visit of Southampton
11.02.2012

Sam Allardyce ensured West Ham United got over the postponement of their
npower Championship fixture at Peterborough United by getting his players
out on the pitch at Chadwell Heath on Saturday. The manager was on his way
to London Road when he got the call to say that the game had been
called-off, despite the superb efforts of fans from both teams in trying to
make the frozen pitch playable. Big Sam and his coaching staff were
determined to make the most of the situation, though, and put the squad
through a training session upon their return to Essex. "We were on our way
down and they told us to turn around as there was no point in coming down as
the pitch was solid," said Big Sam. "They were trying desperately to get the
game on but it was too dangerous for the players to consider trying to play
the game. "If the game had been back in London we would have been fine as
the weather is a lot milder here and it's amazing the difference an hour's
drive can make. We went from a minus-ten to a plus-three temperature."

Big Sam's focus will now switch to Tuesday night's visit of Southampton
under the lights at the Boleyn Ground and he is confident that Saturday's
postponement will not affect the Hammers' preparation. "When the lads got
back we had a quick session and then got home. We were all frustrated. It
doesn't affect our preparations for Southampton at all other than we didn't
play. "We have time to get our minds focused on Southampton without any
injuries or fatigue because we haven't played. We'll be training again
tomorrow and Monday to make sure we're ready for the game."

Beauty Queen to grace the Boleyn
WHUFC.com
Miss Commonwealth International Hayley Mac will be at the home game with
Southampton
12.02.2012

Miss Commonwealth International and lifelong West Ham United supporter
Hayley Mac will be attending the home npower Championship fixture against
Southampton on Valentine's Day. Hayley, who comes from the Essex town of
Grays, has won a host of beauty pageants and home and abroad, being crowned
Miss Galaxy UK and Miss Galaxy International in 2009. The following year,
she was crowned Miss Commonwealth International. Hayley, who will be joined
at the Boleyn Ground by Miss Essex Sydney Jennings, said she could not wait
for the big match with West Ham's promotion rivals. "I have always supported
West Ham as it's a family tradition!" she said. "Attending a home game is
what I love best - the team, the ground and let's not forget the fans! "All
these factors create a winning team forever. Up the Hammers!" When she is
not winning beauty pageants, Hayley actively supports a number of local
charities, including the Richard House Children's Hospice in Beckton and
Help for Heroes.
