West Ham United U18s lost to Tottenham Hotspur in seven goal thriller on Wednesday
26.11.2014
West Ham United U18s fell to a 4-3 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday afternoon. The Hammers started the game brightly and they almost opened the scoring when Djair Parfitt-Williams went close before goalkeeper Harry Voss denied Jerry Amoo. West Ham continued to press for an opener as Parfitt-Williams had another chance before Reece Burke saw his header go over the bar. However, the score remained 0-0 at half time. The hosts came out the traps quickly as they opened the scoring through Joe Pritchard's finish in the first minute of the second half. They doubled their lead soon after through Anton Walkes' as he cut in from the left-wing to finish from a tight angle.
The Hammers responded well through Oscar Borg's superb curling free kick two minutes later but poor defending cost the Hammers as Ismail Azzaoui ran onto Anthony Georgio's slick through-ball to restore their two goal advantage. The hosts proceeded to wrap up the victory ten minutes from time when scorer Azzaoui returned the favour by setting up Georgiou for their fourth goal of the afternoon. However, the Hammers almost mustered an unlikely comeback as Jerry Amoo headed home from a corner before Oscar Borg replicated his earlier attempt with another exquisite free kick. Unfortunately for the Hammers it was too little too late as the hosts held out for the all-important three points.
The U18s' next game is against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday 29 November at Rush Green. Kick-off is at 12pm.
West Ham United: Bogard, Pike, Neufville, Sylvestre (Sheriff 80), Akinola, Burke (Elsom 46), Amoo, Browne, Parfitt-Williams, Bailey (Powell 63), Borg
Subs: Boness, Adebayo

Everton and West Ham charged by Football Association after incident
BBC.co.uk
Everton and West Ham have been charged by the Football Association over their players not "conducting themselves in an orderly fashion".
Players from both sides started pushing each other during their Premier League game on 22 November, which the Toffees won 2-1. Everton's James McCarthy and West Ham's Winston Reid were both booked for their parts in the first-half altercation. The clubs have until 18:00 GMT on 1 December to respond to the charge. The incident, which took place in the 40th minute, began when McCarthy's strong challenge on Morgan Amalfitano prompted an angry reaction from several Hammers players. Everton moved up to ninth in the Premier League with the win, while West Ham's defeat was their first in six matches.

'Keeper makes league debut

Raphael Spiegel made his English football debut last night having completed a short term loan move to Barnet earlier in the day. The 21-year-old, who has been at West Ham since July 2012 when he signed a three-year contract has joined the Bees on a one-month loan. And he made his first ever appearance in competitive English football when he played 90 minutes for his new club at Bristol Rovers, deputising for the injured Graham Stack, in their Vanarama Conference clash last night. Despite falling to a 2-1 defeat - with Barnet conceding in the 4th and 90th minutes - the young Hammer had a decent game, according to one on-the-spot Bees fan. "I thought he did alright," said Barnet fan Mikel Bee. "He seems a good enough keeper but what was missing was that command of the defence. "It got to the point where [Curtis] Weston chose to kick the ball out for a throw in than make a relatively straight forward pass back to Spiegel. His kicking needs some work, but he wasn't at fault for either of the goals."

Everton and West Ham have been charged by the Football Association following their Premier League game at Goodison Park last Saturday.
The charges relate to an incident in the latter stages of the first half when a tackle by home midfielder James McCarthy on West Ham's Morgan Amalfitano provoked an angry reaction from the visiting players and a melee broke out. An FA statement read: "It is alleged that in or around the 40th minute of the fixture, both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.
"The clubs have until 6pm on 1 December 2014 to respond to the charge." Both McCarthy and West Ham defender Winston Reid were booked by referee Mark Clattenburg. Everton won the game 2-1 thanks to a 73rd-minute winner from Leon Osman after Mauro Zarate had cancelled out Romelu Lukaku's opener for the hosts.

FA CHARGE WEST HAM
By Sean Whetstone 26 Nov 2014 at 19:28
West Ham till I Die
The Football Association have made a statement on their website this afternoon following an incident at the Everton v West Ham match at Goodison Park last Saturday "Everton and West Ham United have been charged by The FA following their game on 22 November 2014. It is alleged that in or around the 40th minute of the fixture, both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion. The clubs have until 6pm on 1 December 2014 to respond to the charge."
The incident followed Everton's James McCarthy mis timed tackle on Morgan Amalfitano with West Ham players confronting Everton players.
Earlier this month Sunderland were fined £20,000 after admitting an FA misconduct charge of failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion from their game against Everton. QPR also accepted an FA charge of failing to control their players during their 2-2 draw against Manchester City earlier this month. If Everton and West Ham both admit the the FA misconduct charge they are likely to pay the standard fine of £20,000 each too. One Hammers fan said If referee Mark Clattenburg had done his job in the first place by booking more Everton players for kicking our players in the air there wouldn't have been protests from the West Ham side.

WEST HAM ACADEMY V LOCAL RIVALS
By Sean Whetstone 26 Nov 2014 at 15:17
West Ham Till I Die
West Ham's Development team beat Millwall Under 21's in a penalty shoot out yesterday to progress in the Premier League Under 21 Cup.
The game was played behind-closed-doors at Rush Green after police advice feared it would attract trouble. Only players, staff, parents and press are allowed in to watch the match. Originally the game had hoped to be played at the Boleyn Ground with up to 10,000 fans expected to pay £10 each to watch the two local rivals.
West Ham Team: Howes, Westley, Fanimo, Makasi, Pask, Onariase, Bywater, Marlow, Lletget, Whitehead, Sadlier. Subs: Nasha, Bogard, Mavila, Gordon, Pike.
The match was goal less at 90 minutes and it wasn't until the 118th minute in extra time that Millwall found a way through to take the lead, two minutes later a Jaanai Gordon header drew the Hammers level and the game went to penalties. A total of 16 penalties were taken with West Ham players converting all eight penalties!
West ham beat Millwall on penalties 8-7
West Ham Penalty takers: Sadlier, Lletget, Gordon, Mavila, Whitehead, Fanimo, Nasha
The man of the match was Hammer keeper Sam Howes who dived to his right to save Dylan Casey's penalty. he also made a number of important saves earlier in the game. Since the departure of Nick Heywood in mysterious circumstances Acadeemy Director Terry Westley seems to have taken over personal management of the team for the time being.
West Ham Under 18
Steve Pott's West Ham Under 18 side were not so lucky losing 4-3 to Spurs Under 18's today. With 84 minutes gone the West Ham youngsters were 4-1 down but late goals from Jerry Amoo and Oscar Borg for his second made the score line look more reasonable at the final whistle.

Should West Ham make a January move for Mousa Dembele?
HITC
Olly Dawes
West Ham's great start - coupled with the poor form of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham - means that the Hammers have a legitimate chance of gaining European qualification for next season. In order to do that, manager Sam Allardyce may have to do what he did this summer - spend big on exciting new talent. It worked in the summer, with Allardyce attracting Carl Jenkinson, Aaron Cresswell, Alex Song, Cheikhou Kouyate, Diego Poyet, Morgan Amalfitano, Mauro Zarate, Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia to Upton Park. After impressing this term, the West Ham board should back 'Big Sam' in the transfer market again, with the likes of Dan Burn, Aleksandar Dragovic and Connor Wickham strongly linked with January moves to East London. Yet Allardyce could still look to improve his midfield - and Tottenham's Mousa Dembele should be on his wish list ahead of the New Year.
The Belgian international, 27, has slipped down the pecking order at White Hart Lane, and is virtually guaranteed to leave the club after voicing his displeasure earlier this month And having previously played for Fulham before his 2012 move to Tottenham, it's clear that Dembele likes London - and a move to West Ham could be ideal. The Hammers have impressed in midfield so far, but there are still question marks. Mark Noble and Morgan Amalfitano are out of contract at the end of this season, whilst Alex Song is only on loan from Barcelona, and his displays have reportedly attracted interest from Liverpool.
Given that Allardyce's midfield diamond features three central midfielders, West Ham seem to actually have a shortage of bodies there, especially with Diego Poyet out on loan at Huddersfield. In that diamond, it's often said that you need to have balance - yet West Ham don't have a left footed central midfielder to play on that side of the diamond, something Dembele could offer. A physical presence with superb dribbling skills, Dembele has been compared to a poor man's Yaya Toure in recent years - just like West Ham target, Pedro Obiang.
Dembele would probably come cheaper than Obiang, is already accustomed to the Premier League, and would give that balance on the left hand side of the diamond. West Ham fans generally don't like signing Tottenham players, but the possibility of Dembele's availability means this may be too good to pass up.

Ex-West Ham man Gary O'Neil praises David Gold for Alex Song signing
HITC
Tim Poole
The former Hammers midfielder has been impressed by the Premier League side's summer transfer business. West Ham United's summer transfer business has earned them plenty of admirers this season. The signings of Alex Song, Diafra Sakho, Mauro Zarate, Aaron Cresswell and more have transformed the east London side both in terms of their results and how they go about getting them. Observers, then, have been keen to line up one after another to praise the Hammers for their recruitment drive. And former West Ham midfielder Gary O'Neil is the latest name to have been added to that list

@davidgold was a great signing David! You guys done some fantastic business in the summer! #whufc
Indeed, the Norwich City man, who left QPR last summer, having left West Ham to join them the summer before, praised David Gold on Twitter for his side's summer dealings. Alex Song, in particular, was the subject of his admiration.

Daily Express – Galatasaray boss Cesare Prandelli reveals they lostout on signing West Ham on-loan midfielder Alex Song in the summer. Dg
O'Neil left Upton Park in the summer of 2013 after being released by the club. The news was broken by Gold on Twitter that the midfielder had turned down West Ham's offer of a contract. The 31-year-old now pays his football for Norwich in the Championship, with the Canaries currently sitting 10th in the table. Norwich had previously been top, however, until a run of poor results means they are now eight points off first.

West Ham's £2.5m sale of Nicky Maynard looks to have been smart business
HITC
Dan Coombs
Nicky Maynard has barely contributed anything at Cardiff since signing from West Ham. West Ham have had their fair share of transfer disappointments over the years, but managing to sell one on for a profit is always notable. The Hammers originally bough Maynard from Bristol City where he had impressed in the Championship, scoring 20 in one season in 2009/10. It was January 2012 that West Ham snapped him up for £2 million, but were unable to give him the first team chances he would have wanted. He scored four goals for West Ham in their Championship promotion campaign, yet upon reaching the Premier League, Sam Allardyce chose to sell him for £2.5 million to Cardiff City just months later. Over two years on, Maynard has done little to suggest West Ham were too ruthless and cut ties too early, for he has also found it tough going in the Welsh capital.
Since signing, Maynard has only scored three goals for the club, one less than he did at West Ham in six months. He was considered surplus to requirements last season, sent on loan to Wigan Athletic, where he struck four goals in 17 games. This season he has been brought back into the Cardiff squad, but has only scored the once. Now 27, it is even being discussed by Welsh newspaper WalesOnline that he is likely to told he can find a new club in January. It's unlikely Cardiff will get a profit on their £2.5 million, and in Maynard's case, it looks like West Ham's quick sale was smart business.

Noble fitness update

Claret & Hugh
Mark Noble is no better than fifty/fifty to make the Saturday match against Newcastle United. The midfielder took a kick in the calf during the early stages of the second half in the 'Battle of Goodison Park.'Mark has been under intensive treatment all week after Stephen Naismith's foul and nobody can give a proper assessment until the later stages of the week. A source told us: "Mark is very much involved in a race for fitness and of course it's the last thing we need at this stage with so many other problems. We have our fingers crossed but it looks no better than even money that he will be available."

New Zarate speculation "ill informed"
Posted by Hugh5outhon1895 on November 26, 2014 in Whispers
Claret & Hugh
Mauro Zarate is again at the centre of transfer speculation which according to the club is ill informed. Malaga are the latest outfit to be linked with the player although the club insist the Argentine striker is going nowhere. Canal Sur radio has reported that the club based on the Costa del Sol could make a January move following injuries to Nordin Amrabat and Juanmi that could keep both out for the next two months. It leaves them with only Roque Santa Cruz and Ezequiel Rescaldani as recognised frontmen in Javi Gracia's squad. It's claimed that the Hammers have forged close links since the clubs met in the Schalke Cup in Gelsenkirchen during the summer, and that Sam Allardyce has already run the rule over Los Blanquiazules left-back Vitorino Antunes and striker Ezequiel Rescaldani. However, an Upton Park source told us this morning: "I suppose we can expect Mauro to be linked with every club that a journalist fancies. There's nothing in it. It's more ill informed talk "

Adrian fears scotched
Posted by Hugh5outhon1895 on November 26, 2014 in Whispers
Claret & Hugh
Fears that Adrian has fallen victim to injury appear to be false. Speculation started circulating last night the stopper had sprained a shoulder and may be doubtful for Saturday's clash against Newcastle. Given the current injury list that would have been the last thing the squad needed before a highly important Boleyn fixture. With Jussi Jaaskalainen repoerted as being on standby ClaretandHugh this morning approached top sources and were assured that all is well. We were told: Unless it happened over the last couple of hours, all is fine and as far as anyone here is concerned he will be ok for the weekend match."
