Season ticket holders can now purchase their seats for the Carling Cup
quarter-final tie with Everton on Wednesday 12 December.
Tickets went on sale as of 9am this morning with the priority booking period
running through until 5pm Wednesday 14 November. The fixture, which
kicks-off at 7.45pm, has been classified as Category B, with season ticket
holders being able to obtain a 20 per cent discount when purchasing in
advance.

Sheff Utd fight for compensation - BBC
Sheffield United say their case for compensation following relegation from
the Premier League will be heard by a Football Association tribunal. In July
the High Court refused United leave to appeal a Premier League arbitration
panel's decision over the Carlos Tevez affair. But chairman Kevin McCabe
claims the club's fight for a financial settlement will go to a tribunal in
2008. "A date has been set for next year," McCabe said on Wednesday. The
Blades maintain they were unfairly demoted from the top flight last season
after West Ham were found guilty of breaching league regulations in the
signing of Argentine Tevez and his compatriot Javier Mascherano. Rather than
being docked points by the three-man arbitration panel, the Hammers were
fined £5.5m and went on to survive the drop on the final day, while United
were relegated. Having failed in their attempt to have the original
punishment overturned, the Yorkshire outfit now want monetary recognition.
"We have regrettably gone beyond reinstatement so it's about financial
compensation for having been relegated unjustly after another club, we
purport, broke the rules. "A date has been set for next year and respective
clubs are now going through respective submission of claims. "We are led by
the availability of QCs and the panel, so it's more likely mid-2008 than
early. It's frustrating but that's the way the law works."
On the subject of compensation McCabe has previously said: "If you say that
the Championship play-off game is worth £60m and Sheffield United's
attendance last year was 31,000, with full hospitality boxes and restaurants
and broadcasting income, you would say compensation is around £50m."

West Ham United and Tottenham are eyeing Juventus midfielder Sergio Almiron.
The Argentine has impressed for Juve since his summer arrival, but could be
on the move again in January, says Tuttosport. Spurs and West Ham are
chasing Almiron, who could become available for £6 million.

Sheffield United have no intention of dropping their fight for compensation
following their relegation from the Premier League last season. The Blades

success." Asked for his views on the season so far McCabe added: "I think
puzzled and perplexed is probably the best answer. "We all believed we'd be
higher up the table but we've seen in years past in this league, if you can
put a run together you can catch up."

Quashie making steady progress - TeamTalk
Midfielder Nigel Quashie is edging closer to a first-team return at West Ham
as he continues his rehabilitation from a foot injury. Quashie completed
virtually the whole 90 minutes as United's second string drew 2-2 with
Arsenal on Tuesday night. Reserve-team coach Kevin Keen took the 29-year-old
- who has yet to feature this season - off late in the game as a
precautionary measure but the Scotland international could soon be ready for
first-team duty. "Nigel got another game under his belt, which is important
and I took him off just before the end to make sure he was all right," Keen
told the club's official website. Keen also hailed the young players coming
through the ranks at Upton Park, adding: "Within the reserve squad, we have
a team of 19 and 20-year-olds who are really starting to grow in belief and
confidence, which gives us something really to build on now."

Hammers look at Adriano - Newham Recorder

WEST HAM have made an inquiry about bringing Brazilian international striker
Adriano to Upton Park in the January transfer window. The 25-year-old
goalscorer is out of the picture at Serie A club Inter Milan, with Zlatan
Ibrahimovic, Julio Cruz, Hernan Crespo and David Suazo all apparently ahead
of him in the forward pecking order at the San Siro.
Adriano, who has scored a remarkable 25 goals in 35 internationals for
Brazil, has not played for Inter since he bagged the winner in a 1-0 victory
over Reggina back in October. A fee of around £15million is being offered to
tempt coach Roberto Mancini to let him go, after he left the Brazilian out
of his Champions League group stage squad. However, the fact that West Ham
are not involved in European football this season, may put the player off a
move to London.

WEST HAM legends Bobby Moore, Ron Greenwood and John Lyall must be spinning
in their graves! Tottenham Hotspur have approached the Hammers to discuss
the prospect of a temporary ground share at Upton Park! writes DAVE EVANS
In a story that sounds like it should have appeared on April 1, Spurs are
looking at a two-year move to Green Street while they increase their
capacity at White Hart Lane to 52,000 at a cost of £300million.
However, there is a proviso in their plan. When they have a big match, they
will play at Wembley instead!
It would seem likely that if the fourth-from-bottom Spurs were to be
relegated to the Championship, they may not need that Wembley option.
West Ham had tenants in the shape of Charlton Athletic for one season back
in 1991, while The Valley was being renovated, but it would seem highly
unlikely that the Hammers would contemplate allowing Spurs to move into
Upton Park.
Hammers chief executive Scott Duxbury told the Recorder on Tuesday: "We did
have a meeting with Spurs on Monday, but really they were only asking us
what we thought of the possibility of a ground share.
"We said we would go away and think about it, but that is as far as it has
got at the moment, I think we have a few more important things at the top of
our agenda at the moment," he said.
Spurs would have to make the Hammers an astonishing offer for them to agree
to this embryonic plan, and even then, the prospect of West Ham building
their own new stadium in the next three years may scupper the scheme
altogether.
Duxbury confirmed that negotiations for a new site are going well.
"Everything seems to be going to plan at the moment," he insisted. "We are
working out a possible price for the site and we are hoping to make an
announcement in the near future."
On the field, manager Alan Curbishley is still hampered at every turn by
injuries to his key players.
"It's all hands to the pump," said the boss. "Hayden Mullins took another
knock so we'll have to see what we've got for Saturday.
"It doesn't seem to be getting much better at the moment, perhaps after the
international break it may, but at the moment it's not looking like it's
going to change."
On the plus side, Freddie Ljungberg, Dean Ashton and James Collins all
returned to training this week, while Craig Bellamy being ruled out of the
next two internationals for Wales, should mean he will be fit for the big
clash with Spurs on November 25.
"Ashton, Ljungberg and Collins are back in training, but I don't know if the
Derby match will be too soon for them," reflected Curbishley. "Certainly we
may have them back after the international break."
Mullins limped out of Upton Park on Sunday, and with Mark Noble still
struggling with a groin strain, it gives the manager a huge problem in
central midfield for the trip to Pride Park on Saturday, with Nigel Quashie
likely to come into contention for a starting place, after making a second
appearance for the reserves in Tuesday night's 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
As former boss Harry Redknapp was fond of saying, even when it wasn't true,
West Ham are down to the 'bare bones', but Curbishley refuses to go down
that road.
"We're looking at the injury list and we can use that as an excuse, but I
think that's a bit disrespectful to the team that's playing because they are
out there giving everything they have got for the cause," he concluded.

Fundraising night for Jeroen Boere - Newham Recorder

THERE will be a glittering array of past West Ham stars at a special
Memorial Fundraising event in aid of former Hammers' striker Jeroen Boere,
who died back in August. The Dutchman, who played 29 times for the Hammers,
scoring seven goals between 1993 and 1995, committed suicide at his home in
Spain. He leaves behind a son - Brandon - and it is the youngster who will
benefit from the Black Tie evening which is being held at the Manor of
Groves Hotel in Sawbridgeworth on Friday, November 23.
Hosting the event will be Tony Cottee, a close friend of Boere's, while also
expected to be in attendance will be Ray Houghton, Alvin Martin, Mike Marsh,
Julian Dicks, Dale Gordon, Michael Hughes, Tim Breacker, Kenny Brown Jnr,
Keith Rowlands and Mark Robson. The evening includes a champagne reception,
a superb three-course meal with wine, celebrity guest speakers and a full

AFTER being brutally swept aside by Arsenal last week, West Ham's Academy
team hit back in impressive style on Saturday morning with a battling
victory over Norwich City. It could have been more, but in the end the
crucial goal came five minutes into the second half, when Ben Hunt and
Anthony Edgar combined to put Matt Fry away and his cross picked out Junior
Stanislas who finished with style. This Saturday, they will entertain
Southampton at Little Heath.

Danny's joy as he nears his top form - Newham Recorder

THERE are few better things to watch at Upton Park at the moment then the
sight of defender Danny Gabbidon leaping like a salmon to outjump a big lump
of a centre forward and head the ball clear, writes DAVE EVANS.
It is something that West Ham fans were treated to so often two seasons ago,
when the Welsh international took the Hammer of the Year trophy, but only
now is the same sort of spring returning to a player who missed so much of
last year through injury.
"The spring is something I've always had really," he revealed. "I'm not six
foot four, I'm probably only about six foot, so my spring is one of my real
strengths.
"When you are playing against big strikers, you have to get up early and
sometimes it helps."
It certainly did on Sunday as Kevin Davies was constantly outjumped by the
West Ham centre half, but Gabbidon was still smarting after the game, at the
late goal that his team had conceded.
"We got the goal and you just hope you can hold on, but when you do concede
in injury time it is a bit of a cruel blow," he said. "But you just have to
take it on the chin, look back and try to take some positives from it."
There are certainly some positives for Gabbidon. Anton Ferdinand was the
manager's first choice alongside Matty Upson this season, but when injury
struck, the Welshman was quick to take his chance.
"I'm quite happy with the way I'm playing," he confirmed. "Obviously I was
out for such a long time last season, it has taken me a little while to get
back to my form and I think there is still a lot more to come from me.
"I don't think I have hit top form yet, but it is coming with every game. I
am getting stronger and getting more into it, so I am just happy to be back
in the side and hopefully I can get a run in the team."
West Ham could do a lot worse and considering the injury list at the club at
the moment, Gabbidon feels the team is still performing well.
"We have probably got a whole team of injuries, but we are still doing
okay," he said.
"Any team would be affected by that, but the lads who have come in have done
well and battled well. We haven't maybe played our best football, but we
have got a couple of decent results in the last week or so."
Part of the reason for that is Gabbidon's return to form and the fact that
there is some semblance of continuity at the back for the injury-savaged
squad.
"You hope that the back four will stay pretty much the same throughout the
season and our defence has probably been the sturdiest part of the team," he
insisted.
"There has only been myself who has come in for Anton and everyone else has
been the same and that is vitally important."
It certainly was two seasons ago when the West Ham's defence all but picked
itself, and with Gabbidon at the heart of things again, then perhaps a
watertight back-line is not too far away.

Olympic chiefs reject West Ham stadium plan - Times Online and agencies
The organisers of London's Olympic Games have announced that they will not
allow West Ham or any other Premiership club to move into the Olympic
stadium after the 2012 event.
The London side had been looking at the possibility of using a slimmed down
version of the stadium in east London, but the London 2012 board said today
that the consequent plans would need too many changes and delays.
A statement from the board said: "The board reiterated that the priority was
to deliver an Olympic stadium on time and on budget. The board unanimously
decided, therefore, that it would not be possible to deliver this in
collaboration with West Ham, or indeed any other Premier League football
club, due to the number of design changes and associated time delays that
the West Ham proposal would incur."
The board — comprising British Olympics minister Tessa Jowell, London mayor
Ken Livingstone, London 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe and British Olympic
Authority chairman Colin Moynihan — added that the stadium should be a
multi-sport venue for combined commercial, school and community use.
The stadium will seat 80,000 for the games and will be reduced to a
25,000-seat venue after the games. Eggert Magnusson, West Ham chairman, is
now considering moving the club from Upton Park to a new ground on potential
sites including one next to West Ham subway station on the London
Underground.
The Olympic board's statement did not rule out use of the stadium by a
lower-tier soccer club or a rugby team. Leyton Orient, a League One club,
have expressed interest in moving into the stadium, as have the Saracens and
Wasps rugby clubs.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy Tottenham have remained tight-lipped over the
latest speculation about plans to redevelop their White Hart Lane ground or
move to a new stadium.
One suggestion is that Spurs will shut down their traditional home for two
seasons while it is upgraded to a 52,000-capacity arena and ground-share
with rivals West Ham at Upton Park until the work is completed.
Another idea is for Spurs to play high-profile matches like the north London
derby against Arsenal at the new Wembley Stadium.
Reports have claimed that Spurs have turned to Tony Winterbottom, formerly
of the London Development Authority, who played a major role in the building
of Arsenal's new Emirates Stadium, to help them realise a venue of similar
quality on their site adjacent to busy Tottenham High Road.
But a club spokesman said: 'All we can say is to advise you to recall what
the chairman (Daniel Levy) said in his statement when we announced our
financial results last month and see what happens early next year.'
After announcing in October a record turnover and a £32million operating
profit, Levy said: 'The club is currently reviewing its options based on
developing our stadium and our state-of-the-art training centre and we will
commit to one of the options in the first half of 2008.'
White Hart Lane's current capacity is just over 36,000 but to stay there and
expand to a 52,000-seat facility in an overcrowded area with notoriously
poor public transport links would be likely to cost in the region of
£300million.
And reports suggest it would mean Spurs vacating White Hart Lane for two
seasons and proposing a temporary ground-share plan with West Ham.
Tottenham are already said to have approached both West Ham and the Football
Association for their reaction - with sell-out matches, like the Arsenal
game, at Wembley. But no party has officially confirmed such talks.
Another option open to Spurs is to build a new stadium on one of several
sites they have identified in other parts of north London, not far from
White Hart Lane, although the redevelopment of their current facility is
reportedly the favoured choice.
Outsiders have also suggested yet another option - that Levy and his ENIC
corporation, who bought out the Alan Sugar regime six years ago, sell up
completely if new Spanish manager Juande Ramos cannot turn around Spurs'
fortunes on the field by the end of next season.
