Hammers behind Anti-Bullying Week

West Ham United are continuing to support Anna Kennedy Online's 'Give us a
Break' campaign
16.11.2014
West Ham United continue to work hard in support of local autism charity
Anna Kennedy Online (AKO), as they gear up for Anti-Bullying Week 2014.
A recent survey conducted by AKO, which included over 900 parents of
children with autism throughout the UK, has revealed that over 60 per cent
of children affected by autism have experienced bullying in mainstream
schools. Additionally, 73 per cent of families stated that the incident had
been either ignored or was poorly handled. These results also reveal that a
staggering 93 per cent of parents believe that their child's development and
education have been directly affected by bullying. Anti-Bullying week runs
from 17-21 November, with AKO Founder Anna Kennedy OBE once again behind
this national campaign with her popular and poignant 'Give Us a Break' West
Ham's championing of the cause stems from Joint-Chairman David Sullivan's
promotion pledge three years ago, with the donation of a five figure sum to
the autism charity. With the continued support of the Hammers, Anna and her
senior charity training officer Austin Hughes are to focus their on school
safety and protecting those who suffer from bullying. Joe Lyons, Head of
Community, West Ham United Community Sports Trust, applauds the unrelenting
work of AKO, having worked alongside them to create a campaign in the Club's
local community.
"We're exceptionally proud of all the work that AKO has already carried out
in the local community, working cloesly with families affected by autism in
Barking and Dagenham, Harlow, Chigwell and Newham," he explained. "And we
are therefore delighted to have established a joint programme, one that will
enable AKO to support even more families on our own doorstep. "We hope and
expect that by highlighting the work of Anna Kennedy Online that more can be
done to raise awareness of the problem and to support families in difficulty
to lead normal lives."
AKO are calling for your pledge to support this essential campaign and help
tackle bullying in schools. Please visit http://annakennedyonline.com for

David Gold has his say on Winston Reid situation
HITC
Vincent Ralph
Following reports linking West Ham United's Winston Reid with the exit,
David Gold has tweeted on the matter. Reports this weekend suggested West
Ham United had given Winston Reid until the middle of January to sign a new
deal at Upton Park. The centre-back is out of contract in the summer, and
the Times claimed both Arsenal and Manchester United were keeping an eye on
the situation with a deal for as little as £5million being suggested. Both
clubs would love a player like Reid, who has proved at West Ham to be an
excellent Premier League defender who still has age on his side. The
26-year-old would add real quality to either the Gunners' or United's
defence, which have both come in for criticism this season. But following
the reports, West Ham's joint-chairman had his say after being questioned
about the situation on Twitter. When asked why West Ham were "getting rid"
of Reid, Gold replied, "We are not 'getting rid' of WR. We want him to stay
and sign a new contract."
It remains to be seen if that will happen, but the way the Hammers are
playing this season the New Zealand international could see his future best
served exactly where he is.

Why Fulham's Dan Burn could be perfect for West Ham if Arsenal sign Winston
Reid
Blowing Bubbles for Metro.co.ukSunday 16 Nov 2014 6:51 pm
Metro.co.uk
According to reports in the media West Ham are monitoring Fulham defender
Dan Burn. The 22-year-old broke into the Cottagers team last season and,
although he could not prevent the west London side being relegated to the
Championship, impressed with a number of strong performances at the heart of
the defence. Certainly the Club Metro Fulham writer Kris Balkin rates him
very highly and a number of respected people in the game are tipping him for
a very bright future. Cynics would say that at 6ft 7ins tall he certainly
has the makings of a Sam Allardyce player, but there are plenty of reasons
why he could be perfect for the Hammers. Last summer the club had a clear
change in philosophy in the transfer market. Gone were the days of picking
up older players from big clubs.
Instead the Irons started to target younger players. Cheikhou Kouyaté (24
years old), Diafra Sakho (24), Carl Jenkinson (22 – on loan), Aaron
Cresswell (24) and Enner Valencia (25) have all been brought in and should
not only improve as players but will only increase their re-sale value
should the club wish to sell. Having young, hungry players certainly has its
advantages and we've seen this season how an injection of youth and pace has
made such a difference. It would seem that from this point of view Burn fits
the bill, and, if the £4million transfer fee suggested in the Mail's article
is true it would certainly represent as decent price as we know that young,
English players in particular don't come cheap. The problem, of course, is
that co-owner David Sullivan has previously stated the club will not be
doing any business in January as the Hammers are right on the limit of their
financial fair play wage cap.
The fact West Ham are being linked with a defender is also a cause for
concern as it will only add to speculation that Winston Reid may be on his
way out in January. The defender is out of contract at the end of the season
and it is understood he has been watched by both Arsenal and Manchester
United in recent weeks. If a large offer from either of these teams came in
it would be difficult to see the club turning it down with a high chance he
could leave for nothing a few months later. Nevertheless, if the worst was
to happen the club will need to strengthen at the back and one can only hope
the club chose to go for a young player with potential as opposed to a
short-term fix that would only kick the problem into the long grass. They
could do worse than Dan Burn.

West Ham send scouts to watch £8m-rated centre back once wanted by Arsenal
HITC
Olly Dawes
Reports today suggest that West Ham are scouting Dynamo Kiev defender
Aleksandar Dragovic. West Ham United's start to the season has seen them
pick up 18 points from the first 11 games, claiming five wins already,
including victories over last season's top two, Liverpool and Manchester
City. Manager Sam Allardyce has rightly earned plaudits for revolutionising
the way West Ham play, switching to a 4-3-1-2 system and getting the best
out of new signings Aaron Cresswell, Alex Song, Diafra Sakho and Enner
Valencia. Whilst it's all been incredibly positive for the Hammers so far
this season, there is one lingering problem - the future of star centre back
Winston Reid.
The New Zealand international, 26, has been superb for West Ham for some
time now, but that has led to heavy interest from the likes of Arsenal,
Liverpool and Manchester United.
West Ham's position is weakened by the fact that Reid's contract is set to
expire next summer, and clubs seem to be queuing up to take him away from
Upton Park. With no deal agreed, West Ham need to start looking for possible
replacements for Reid, and whilst speculation has linked them with a move
for Fulham's Dan Burn, there's another name on their radar. According to the
Daily Mail, West Ham sent scouts to watch Austrian international centre back
Aleksandar Dragovic this weekend, as he took on Russia for his country.
Dragovic, 23, was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in 2013, but chose
to move to Ukraine with Dynamo Kiev instead, and his impressive displays
there have led to speculation over a move to Juventus. However, West Ham
clearly have high ambitions, and landing Dragovic would be some coup for
Allardyce, and have even been linked with Dragovic's international centre
back partner. Red Bull Salzburg star Martin Hinteregger was also scouted by
West Ham, and it's becoming more and more apparent that the Hammers are
concerned over Reid's future. Centre backs are being linked with moves to
Upton Park on a regular basis now, and fans may have to start accepting that
Reid could be on his way out of the club - but it seems that Allardyce and
West Ham are already making plans in case he does leave.

Carroll and that St James' Park image

Claret & Hugh
Andy Carroll's future is at West Ham United into the forseeable future! This
really shouldn't and wouldn't need repeating but for a picture that was
posted on his Instagram account of St James Park – SHOWN RIGHT. It was
accompanied with the hashtag #reminiscing
The image was seized on by the local Newcastle press as another reason to
run the AC for Newcastle story' again. However, they took good care to
repeat that his agent Mark Curtis had made it clear there was no way it
would be happening. And as is always the case the tale found it's way into
the national media. The questions surrounding his future have arisen again
as a result of this picture and that there is no assurance he will be
granted a place once fit given Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia's incredible
form But ClaretandHugh ensured the question of Carroll's future was a
central question in a recent interview with Hammers co-chairman David
Sullivan. In response to the question he said: "He's a very important member
of the squad. He was sensational when he came on against Aston Villa."Andy
Carroll is going nowhere!

Jenkinson/Reid swap deal examined
Posted by Hugh5outhon1895 on November 16, 2014 in Whispers
Claret & hugh
It's always a problem when a loan player becomes a favourite! The terraces
warm and warm to the lad and then have to accept that before another few
months is up they will have to wave sad farewells. Such seems to be the case
with Carl Jenkinson who currently appears to be having a two-way love affair
with the West Ham hordes and making no secret of it in his public
proclamations. He is at the club because of a close relationship between the
Irons boardroom and his agent which was exploited to perfection when Arsene
Wenger.decided he wanted the right back to get regular first team PL
football. But since breaking the story that there is no "to buy" option in
the loan deal, ClaretandHugh has been inundated with suggestions as to how
the player could be 'captured' by the Irons.
They all present the same variation on the obvious theme – do a deal which
sees him comer to us and Winston Reid move over to north London with an
adjustment on the fee perhaps in Arsenal's favour. All well and good but why
would Arsenal want to pay any sort of fee for a player who would be on a
free and for whom they would in all probability have moved earlier had they
been interested in doing so. The other obvious flaw in that idea too is the
assumption that Arsenal are keenly interested in the player – a view based
on press reports which may or may not be true. Also all our information is
that the Hammers haven't received a single inquiry for the New Zealander.
Personally, I haven't entirely given up on a deal for Jenkinson being done
although that may be based more on hope than expectation. The key will be
the return of injured summer signing Mathieu Debuchy, due back by Christmas.
Jenkinson is not going to want a return to the PL sidelines at a time when
his international career is taking off and no manager wants an unhappy
player in the camp. So much will depend on the Frenchman's form over the
last part of the season and the wheeling and dealing Hammers board. Such has
been their clever transfer market moves of late I'm not ready to never say
never!
