Hughes keen to sign striker

Sky Sports sources understand that Manchester City are in talks to sign
Craig Bellamy from West Ham. Mark Hughes is desperately trying to bring in a
new striker before the close of the transfer window after being hit by a
number of injury problems. Benjani, Valeri Bojinov and Darius Vassell are
all currently sidelined, while summer signing Jo has only just returned from
the Olympic Games. Hughes has made it clear that he has funds available and
is thought to have identified Bellamy as one of his top targets. City are
now believed to be in negotiations with West Ham over a possible transfer
and will be hoping to agree a deal. Bellamy has yet to play this term after
picking up a hamstring problem in pre-season and Alan Curbishley may decide
he can cope without the Welshman. The 29-year-old moved to Upton Park from
Liverpool last summer but injuries restricted him to just nine appearances.
