Ghana and West Ham full back John Paintsil is still in a domestic hospital
after being taken ill following the first game of the African Cup of Nations
on Sunday. Paintsil helped the Black Stars claim victory against Guinea but
collapsed to the ground as soon as the match finished. The 26-year-old
started to show signs of sickness at half time but managed to finish the
game before the dramatic event. The defender was rushed to hospital and the
Ghanaian fans are waiting for news about his health. "He took a knock to the
jaw after a rough challenge in the first half," Ghana's assistant manager
Herve Renard said.
Paintsil moved to Upton Park following a brilliant 2006 World Cup campaign
but failed to become a regular starter in The Premier League.
