27/07/2007 11:26

West Ham United, in a deal brokered by Copyright Promotions Sport (CPS), has
appointed New Era Caps as a major licensee for apparel and headgear.
The deal is for T-Shirts, Polo Shirts, Fleeces, Sweat Tops, Casual Shirts,
Casual Jackets, Casual Tracksuit Trousers, Casual Shorts, Sailing Jerseys,

dual-branded with West Ham United crest and the New Era logo. New Era, who
recently opened their flagship headwear store in Central London, will be
looking to have a dedicated area in the West Ham United Stadium retail
store, carrying a wide range of great quality fashionable headwear and
apparel to raise the profile of both brands. Says Victoria Robb Commercial

that New Era Caps have ventured into football clothing and it is further
evidence of the strength of the West Ham United brand. "
Those comments are echoed by Peter Lee, Chief Operating Officer of New Era
who says he is extremely excited at the prospect of bringing the cutting
edge New Era branded West Ham United merchandise to their passionate fan
base in this four-year deal. He says: "Combining West Ham United's heritage
with that of New Era is really a marriage made in heaven, I am thrilled with

says: "West Ham United is very pleased to have signed this contract with New
Era Caps. We are looking forward working to offering our fans great New Era

Lucas Neill named as new Team Captain - WHUFC
27/07/2007 15:25

West Ham United is delighted to announce that Lucas Neill has been appointed
as our new Team Captain by manager Alan Curbishley. The 28-year-old
Australian defender, who is also captain of his national team, displayed
impressive leadership qualities during our successful fight against
relegation at the end of last season, and was seen by many as the natural
successor to Nigel Reo-Coker, who recently joined Aston Villa. Alan
Curbishley says: "I'm pleased to confirm Lucas as the new team captain of
West Ham United. He has all the qualities needed to captain a Club of this
stature. "He understands the role, has been used to it with Blackburn Rovers
and Australia, and I'm sure it is an appointment that everybody at the Club
is happy with."
Lucas, who returned to pre-season training at Upton Park today following
international duty with Australia in the Asia Cup, says: "I'm absolutely
overwhelmed and truly honoured to be named as captain of West Ham United.
"This is a Club with so much great history and so many great players who
have led the team out - and to see my name up alongside those people is a
fantastic feeling. "It's an opportunity that I am going to relish. I will
try to lead by example on and off the field and I promise all West Ham
United supporters that I will lead their team out with immense pride."

Scudamore wants Tevez solution - Sky ( I knew it wouldn't be out of the
news for long! - PeterR )
By Mark Buckingham - Created on 27 Jul 2007

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore remains keen for the Carlos
Tevez affair to reach a swift conclusion. Manchester United's bid to sign
Tevez from West Ham United is now heading to the High Court after the
striker's representative Kia Joorabchian issued a writ against his current
club. Scudamore insists The Hammers hold the Argentine's registration, but
is eager for the matter to be cleared up to ensure the focus returns to the
new season, which starts on 11th August. "Tevez is currently registered to
West Ham United - that's a matter of fact," Scudamore told Sky Sports News.
"Yes, I think it's very common knowledge, of course it is, that Manchester
United would like to acquire him. "It would be for West Ham to work out,
along with Manchester United, how that takes place, and that has to be done
in some sort of bona fide way in accordance with the rules. "What's made
this entirely more complicated than normal is the fact there is a dispute,
which is now a formal dispute, between the MSI group and West Ham that's now
the subject of a High Court writ. "In terms of the legal process it will, in
some ways, at least adjudicate on some of the rights and wrongs of this
saga. "Clearly, there are separate issues here. There is the relationship
that West Ham have with Mr Tevez and his potential move to another club,
which, in some ways, is normal Premier League business which we are used to
dealing with. "The complication is this other complication, which is the
legal claim. For everybody's sake we all hope it will be resolved sooner
rather than later. "I think we all want to get back to the preparation for
the season in a normal way soon. There is a huge buzz and excitement around
the start of the season and the sooner we get to that position the better."

Doubts for Curbs ahead of Hammers' Southend trip - Daily mail
Last updated at 13:55pm on 27th July 2007

Alan Curbishley has several doubts for tomorrow's trip to Southend. Luis Boa
Morte (dead leg) is rated at 50-50 while Scott Parker is definitely out.
Lucas Neill, Mark Noble and Bobby Zamora could feature, while Dean Ashton is
expected to play the majority of the game as he continues his rehabilitation
from an ankle injury.

Hatters swoop for Hutchison - Clubcall
20070727 13:46

Luton have reportedly signed former Liverpool and West Ham midfielder Don
Hutchison on a one-year deal. The veteran former Scotland international, now
36, has been handed the chance to extend his career at Kenilworth Road after
weighing up his options over the summer. Hutchison spent last season at
Coventry but struggled to earn a regular role at the Ricoh Arena and was
released at the end of the campaign. The midfielder has amassed eight
different clubs in his career after starting out with Hartlepool United 17
years ago. He was snapped up by Liverpool before going on to represent West
Ham, Sheffield United, Everton, Sunderland and Millwall amongst others.

Reo convinced he's made the right moveJul 27 2007
By Bill Howell in Cleveland, Birmingham Mail

NIGEL Reo-Coker believes he has made exactly the right decision to swap the
claret and blue of West Ham for Villa. The former England under-21 skipper
heads into tomorrow night's second game of the North American tour, against
Columbus Crew, hoping to get his first start of the trip following a low-key
opener at Toronto. Villa have flown into the States and have been viewing
the training facilities at the Cleveland Browns, Randy Lerner's American
football team and Reo-Coker says he is relishing his new environment. He
said: "I enjoyed my debut and the more games I can get in pre-season, the
more beneficial it will be for the start of the season. "From what I saw in
the Toronto game, there's an abundance of talent here and great belief. I
really believe we'll have a successful season. I couldn't ask to have joined
a greater bunch of lads than I have. There's so much talent here and as
every day comes I'm enjoying it more and more."
Reo-Coker says Villa must go out to beat Columbus Crew tomorrow and make it
a 100 per cent pre-season ahead of games against Stoke, Inter Milan and
Walsall back home. "These games are not all about the result, but it is
important to have that winning mentality," he said. "I'm a firm believer
that there are no friendlies in football. "That may be a bit of an old
school mentality, but as far as I'm concerned every game you play, you play
to win. "We've got one more game out here and then we've arranged three more
games back in England before the start of the season. We want to go into
that Liverpool game fully prepared and full of confidence."
Reo-Coker was held back until the last 22 minutes at Toronto on Wednesday
night, but is now ready to step up his pre-season following a busy summer.
"I made a couple of runs on Wednesday night and that's a big part of my game
- getting forward to support the strikers," he said. "Hopefully, the fans
will see a lot of that next season."

Bellamy Offers Advice To West Ham Team-Mate Ashton - Goal.com

West Ham United's summer signing from Liverpool, Craig Bellamy, has offered
as few words of advice to his Hammerts team-mate and strike partner Dean
Ashton, who has battled back to fitness after missing the whole of last
season with a serious injury. Ashton damaged ligaments and broke his ankle
while training with the England squad on the eve of last season, so his
availability now makes him effectively another new signing for manager Alan
Curbishley, who took over as Hammers' boss last December. And Bellamy can
empathise with Ashton, because he was once out injured for a year when he
was on the books of Norwich City - coincidentally the club Ashton left to
join the Hammers. "You need challenges to get your confidence back.
Basically, you need someone to take you out . . . in the nicest way. "That's
when you know you're all right and you get your confidence from that. "Deano
has had a very big injury. These pre-season games will be important for him.
And as soon as he gets himself right we'll all know about it because he's an
exceptional player." Having arrived from Liverpool for a reported £8
million fee, Bellamy believes he has joined a team than challenge
successfully this season to secure a European place for the following
campaign - which would be a major improvement after the traumas of last
season. Bellamy said: "I knew it was a very good squad here before I joined
and I know what the capabilities are. I do believe Europe is a possibility."

The new Wales captain also has an eye on one day captaining West Ham. "The
proudest moment I could ever have was to be made captain of Wales," he said.
"I believe I have got to earn the right here to get that honour and,
hopefully, over the next few years . . . well, you never know."

Spurs and Man City join Hammers in race for midfielder - Daily Mail
Last updated at 11:38am on 27th July 2007

West Ham were this morning locked in a battle with big-spending Manchester
City boss Sven Goran Eriksson and Spurs to sign Newcastle's Kieron Dyer for
£5m. City made their move last night but the Hammers and Spurs have an
advantage because Dyer wants to move closer to his young family in Ipswich.
He sat out last night's 4-1 win over Celtic with Newcastle boss Sam
Allardyce admitting: "We were just protecting our asset." The Hammers look
nailed on to land the £80,000-aweek England midfielder, though Eriksson did
snatch Atletico Madrid's Bulgarian Martin Petrov from under the noses of
Tottenham yesterday, which might make Martin Jol determined not to miss out
on Dyer. Dyer, 28, has spent eight years at Newcastle after leaving Ipswich
in 1999 but his career has been blighted by injury and the infamous on-field
spat with team-mate Lee Bowyer, already part of West Ham boss Alan
Curbishley's squad.
If he opts for Spurs he may have problems negotiating the strict wages
ceiling at White Hart Lane.
