The background
West Ham United resume their Barclays Premier League campaign following the
international break on Sunday when they make the short trip to Tottenham
Hotspur.
The London derby represents an opportunity for Slaven Bilic's men to get
back to winning ways after a defeat to Watford and a draw against Everton in
their last two matches.
The Hammers sit a lofty sixth in the table after the first 12 matches of the
season, a place behind Sunday's opponents, who like West Ham have 21 points.
Mauricio Pochettino's side are undefeated since the opening day of the
campaign, winning five and drawing six of their subsequent matches.
They drew 1-1 with Arsenal last time out, but won the two matches before –
5-1 at Bournemouth and 3-1 against Aston Villa at White Hart Lane.
With a UEFA Europa League campaign also on their radar, Spurs will be
looking to make progress on a number of fronts this season.

The history
The Hammers and Tottenham have met on 201 occasions in their history, with
that first meeting coming back in 1898 when West Ham were still Thames
Ironworks.
That ended as a 3-0 win for Spurs and it is the north Londoners who have the
advantage in the head-to-head record, having won 90 times to West Ham's 60.
However, the Hammers have enjoyed a good run of results at Spurs' White Hart
Lane ground in recent years, winning 3-0 in the league and 2-1 in the
Capital One Cup in the 2012/13 season, before drawing 2-2 there last term.
Senegalese duo Cheikhou Kouyate and Diafra Sakho looked to have given the
visitors all three points, but late goals from Danny Rose and Harry Kane
pegged Sam Allardyce's men back and ensured the points would be shared.

Tactically speaking - Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pocchetino has opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation in all 12 Barclays
Premier League fixtures played by Tottenham Hotspur this season.
The system sees Spurs play a high-tempo game where they press high,
aggressively and often when out of possession, and pass the ball quickly and
accurately when they have it.
Spurs are a young, energetic team who do not give their opponents a moment's
peace when in possession. They press from the front, with England centre
forward Harry Kane being supported by three attacking midfielders and two
deeper players, who act as a screen in front of the back four.
Defensively, Spurs are very disciplined and will drop into position quickly
and effectively, with both Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen being strong
in the air and quick across the ground.
The two deep-lying midfielders Eric Dier and Dele Alli receive decent
support from Mousa Dembele, who drops in when Tottenham do not have the
ball.
When they have the ball, Tottenham pass out from the back, with both
deep-lying centre midfielders receiving the ball, either from centre-halves
or directly from goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Both the France captain and Belgian
centre-backs Alderweireld and Vertonghen are comfortable with the ball at
their feet and can distribute accurately over any distance.
Dier, who has successful converted from a defender to a central midfielder
this season, is most likely to drop deep to receive the ball, albeit facing
his own goal.
Alongside him, fellow England new boy Alli has been a revelation as an
all-action central midfield player. The former MK Dons man can tackle and
pass and has an exemplary work-rate.
Going forward, Alli and Dembele both have the ability to bring the ball
forward through the heart of the pitch, pulling opposition players out of
position and creating space for their teammates.
Spurs' front four are talented and versatile. Christian Eriksen is
Tottenham's chief creator, coming in off the left and linking with his
teammates with little give-and-goes and through balls. He is also a threat
with his delivery from set piece situations.
With Kane also preferring to drift out to the left and cut in on his
stronger right foot, Spurs are statistically more likely to attack down that
side of the pitch than anywhere else.
On the right, the left-footed Erik Lamela is suspended. Pochettino will have
to decide who to bring in, with Belgian Nacer Chadli, South Korean Son
Hueng-min and England winger Andros Townsend among the candidates.
Whoever plays, the wide midfielders have a tendency to drift inside,
creating space for Tottenham's attacking full-backs Kyle Walker and Danny
Rose to advance into.
Spurs are also not afraid to go long when the situation demands, with the
left-footed Vertonghen hitting accurate balls in the direction of Harry
Kane. The England striker is comfortable receiving the ball to feet, or to
his chest, allowing him to bring midfield runners into play.

Dicks - Slaven settled in straight away

Julian Dicks has fond memories of playing at White Hart Lane and hopes to be
celebrating another famous win over London rivals Tottenham on Sunday.
The West Ham United coaching assistant was part of the side that came away
with a 1-0 win back in February 1996 when a new Croatian defender called
Slaven Bilic made his debut for the Hammers in north London.
Dicks played his part in the winning goal which was scored by Portuguese
forward Dani and they went on to enjoy a top half finish in the Premier
League.
The big London derby against Spurs is always one of the major highlights for
supporters and Dicks will be hoping for similar celebrations in the away
dressing room when the final whistle blows on Sunday.
Dicks said: "It was a great night for us when we beat them 1-0 and I can
still remember the goal and Slaven making his debut. He played well that
night.
"Danny Williamson played a corner into the box and I volleyed the ball which
Ian Walker could only parry. The rebound hit Dani on the head and the ball
went in.
"As you can imagine we went ballistic because beating Tottenham is always
good, but beating them at White Hart Lane is even better.
"I didn't know anything about Slaven when he first arrived. He trained for a
few days and wasn't anything special !! I am only joking. He fitted in
straight away and you could see his quality.
"It helped that he could speak English. Back then we had a laugh and a joke
in training and he settled in straight away. We had some great characters in
the dressing room at the time and that is what got us through a lot of
games. We had a good team spirit and if you watch the old clips we
pressurised people.
"We were fit enough to do that and that is how the goal came about. We kept
pressurising and that is what led to Dean Austin giving the ball away for a
corner and the goal came from that. We had some good players and it was a
special night.
"You should not have to lift the players for a game like this. They just
need to listen to what the fans are saying and they are special games. For
West Ham it is a big derby and the players know what it means."
Dicks is hoping the team will show their quality once again having recorded
memorable away wins over Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City this season.
The Club suffered a blow when Dimitri Payet was ruled out for three months
with an ankle injury, but the Hammers coach believes this is the chance for
another player to show the management team they should be playing on a
regular basis.
Dicks added: "Losing Dimitri is a massive blow for us. He has been fantastic
for us but these things happen in football and the players who come in have
to do a job.
"There is positive news with Diafra Sakho and Alex Song back in action
because he has been missing for quite a while. He has been back in training
for the last few weeks so we are getting players back.
"We want to stay in the top six and that is the aim for the coaches and
players. It is important that we keep the players fit."

I know all the fans are excited and looking forward to the London derby at
White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Every season this is a big fixture for everyone connected with the Club and
we always have a special game when we play Tottenham.
It is quite clear that we have closed the gap and I know all the fans will
have special memories of our big results over them in the last couple of
years.
We were unlucky when we played Spurs last season, especially the game at
White Hart Lane when we went two goals in front and then conceded a penalty
with the last kick of the game deep into injury time.
It shows how far we have come that we are disappointed not to get anything
from these big games and we go there once again with even more confidence
having recorded such memorable away wins over Arsenal, Liverpool and
Manchester City.
The away victory over Crystal Palace was also a big result for Slaven and
the players because that is not an easy place to go and it shows the quality
we have now got in the squad. We will be hoping for a similar outcome on
Sunday.
We are certainly showing our credentials this season and our job was to
build a squad of players that could compete and make the top four look over
their shoulders.
We are of course saddened by the news that Dimitri Payet will be ruled out
of action for three months and we wish him well in his recovery.
We have talented players who are desperate to get into the squad and I know
we will have another strong line-up and another strong bench for the game
this weekend.
It will not be easy against a Tottenham side who have performed well this
season and have a good squad of players and a good manager. But we got there
full of optimism and confident that we can come away with a positive result.
We have players like Alex Song and Diafra Sakho who are ready to come back
into the squad and that is a big boost for Slaven.
Sakho is an exceptional player and I don't think there is another striker in
the Premier League who covers as much ground as he does. He is not just a
goalscorer and works so hard for the team.
I hope all the fans have a safe trip to Tottenham on Sunday and their
support has been amazing this season. They have exceeded all my
expectations, especially away from home when they have travelled around the
country.
I am sure on Sunday they will be magnificent once again.

Howes eyeing further successes

Highly rated goalkeeper Sam Howes has enjoyed a week to remember, first
celebrating his 18th birthday before playing for the England U19s against
their Dutch counterparts.
Howes put in an assured display in Holland, which saw the Young Lions
recover from a 2-0 deficit to secure a draw thanks to goals from Ryan Ledson
and Tammy Abraham.
Speaking about the positive experience, Howes said: "It was a good test
against Holland, we've played them several times recently and they are
always good games.
"It was a good test for us, one that I think we did well in and passed.
"The team spirit in the squad is really good, it always has been. We know
each other's games inside out and that definitely helps when coming to
playing games. To come back from 2-0 down, away in Holland, is clearly a big
achievement."
Alongside Howes in the England squad was teammate Reece Oxford who made his
U19s' debut in a 5-1 win over Japan.
Looking across the England teams it has clearly been a good time for young
players, from Dele Alli's wonderstrike at Wembley to Duncan Watmore's
heroics in the U21s.
Howes continued to speak of his pride at being part of a new wave of English
talent: "It's very exciting to be involved. There's a lot of talent in the
England youth teams. There are a lot of players doing well in the Premier
League or out on loan in the lower leagues in the U21, U20 and U19 so you
can see the quality.
"In the U19s, there's a lot of talent. And we're being pushed as hard as we
can, it's tough but that's the best way to learn and develop. If we continue
on this path, then hopefully we'll all be successful.
"The whole squad is full of top class players, there's a reason why they are
the best in England and we all jel together well. All the boys are doing
well for their clubs, scoring goals and keeping clean sheets so it's looking
positive for English football really.
"The main difference between club football and international is the
preparation. Obviously, with England you don't get the same amount of time
to prepare, with clubs you can prepare for weeks and even months. Against
Holland, we only had three days to prepare and organise a structure."
Having returned to his beloved Hammers, Howes has gone straight back into
training with the first team at Chadwell Heath.
While the shot-stopper has been involved with the senior side for some time
now, the novelty of training alongside Adrian and Darren Randolph clearly
has not worn off yet.
"It's really good, I'm really enjoying it. To be training regularly with the
likes of Adrian, Daz (Randolph) and Rafa (Spiegel) is fantastic.
"To work with Chris Woods all the time is also fantastic, he's a great
mentor, of course having played for England himself he's a role model and
his advice will benefit me in the long term.
"There are little areas where he has helped me to tighten up my game; I've
definitely improved under him."
Howes' concentration is now fully focused of the U18's encounter with
Norwich City on Saturday 21 November at Little Heath.
The young Hammers have been in superb recently, winning eight of their last
ten games.
Looking ahead to the game with the Canaries, Howes said: "The boys are on a
good run at the moment; hopefully we can string a few results together, the
best is yet to come from us as a team but also individually."

Early bird Manu set for Spurs

If West Ham United net an early goal in Sunday's Barclays Premier League
derby at Tottenham Hotspur, the man most likely to score it is Manuel
Lanzini.
The Argentine has form in that department, making a habit of scoring big
goals in the opening minutes of big matches.
Lanzini, after all, is the man who needed just three minutes of his first
Barclays Premier League start to score the opening goal in West Ham United's
stunning 3-0 victory at Liverpool in August, reacting smartly to stab in an
Aaron Cresswell cross-shot.
The 22-year-old certainly hit the ground running that afternoon at Anfield,
just as he did on his debut for the Club against UEFA Europa League rivals
Astra Giurgiu in Romania at the start of August, when he found the net in
the fourth minute.
When it comes to lightning starts, though, he has managed even better. To be
precise, in May 2013, he hit the fastest goal in the history of Argentinian
football's biggest fixture – the 'Superclásico' between Buenos Aires rivals
River Plate and Boca Juniors.
He has the details imprinted in his memory, and they come out one by one:
"At the Bombonera. Forty-three seconds. It was a header."
Lanzini was 20 at the time he struck that historic goal in an eventual 1-1
draw at Boca's stadium and he adds: "It was magical. It was my first
official goal against Boca and to go into the history books in such a big
game is really magical. Scoring the quickest goal in history of the
'Superclásico' at the Bombonera is something you dream about and luckily it
actually happened to me.
"The next year we went back there and won 2-1 and I scored again," he
continues. "There were only Boca fans in the stadium as away fans can't go
to games in Argentina and to witness that silence was lovely."
So, if you are heading to White Hart Lane or planning to watch Sunday's game
on television, make sure you take your seat for kick-off, or else you might
well miss another magical moment from the Hammers' early bird!

James Tomkins believes West Ham can still keep up their scoring form without
Dimitri Payet against Tottenham on Super Sunday. Payet has made an instant
impact since moving to the Premier League, scoring five times so far, but is
ruled out for the trip to White Hart Lane after picking up an ankle injury
against Everton on November 7 that will keep him out for three months, while
Enner Valencia is also out. West Ham have scored 23 times in 12 Premier
League games this term, only failing to score in one match, and Hammers
defender Tomkins believes the squad is strong enough to cope without two of
their key players, citing Manuel Lanzini as another key contributor this
season. "It's unfortunate Enner and Dimi have got injured because they're
two important players for us - they're game changers," he told Sky Sports.
"Manu has done brilliantly for us already this year, and he looks a real
spark on the pitch. He can change the game in a minute - you saw what he did
against Everton, and that's what he does every day in training. "There's
people like him, Mauro [Zarate], and Andy [Carroll] who offers a completely
different threat.
The Payet problem
We look at how much of a blow Dimitri Payet's injury is for West Ham and how
they might replace him. "I still think there are goals in abundance, but
it's a massive loss." West Ham go into Sunday's clash level on points with
Tottenham, only behind Mauricio Pochettino's men on goal difference. After
their victory at Arsenal on the opening day, the Hammers have gone on to win
at Liverpool and Manchester City, and Tomkins is aiming for another big win
away to one of the league's big sides. "That first win gave us the
confidence to go and beat the likes of Liverpool and City. I think it set
the stall out, and the big teams are starting to fear us. "We're still
getting confidence from that. We know we've beaten teams of that stature, so
on our day I think we can beat anyone in the league. It's just a matter of
consistency, really. "When we get the fixtures at the start of the year, I'd
be lying if I said it's (Tottenham) not the first one you look for. They're
big games, and massive for the fans. "With the away wins we've had so far,
to top it off with a win against Spurs, it wouldn't get much better than
that. "Everyone knows, on our day, we can do it, but it's just a matter of
putting it into practice and doing it on the day.
"City was a massive one after the two we'd had before, but I think from the
fans' point of view it would be the best one yet."

West Ham's Enner Valencia facing another four weeks on the sidelines

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic says Enner Valencia is facing another four
weeks on the sidelines as his injury problems continue. Valencia has already
missed three months of the season after suffering an ankle injury against
Astra in the Europa League qualifier in July. He returned in October against
Watford but suffered another ankle injury after coming on as a substitute in
the 1-1 draw with Everton prior to the international break. Dimitri Payet
has already been ruled out for three months, although surgery has been ruled
out for the French playmaker, and Bilic admits Valencia now faces another
spell on the sidelines. Bilic said: "We had another blow with Enner
Valencia. We were without him since Astra and he came on against Everton and
was really good. "To be without him again is a massive blow. His injury
looks like four weeks, which is not that long, but long enough."
West Ham have surprised many with their enterprising start to the season and
are in sixth place after only one defeat in their last nine. Speaking ahead
of Sunday's game against Tottenham, which you can see live on Sky Sports,
Bilic is keen to curb expectations, saying: "It's November and December
when things can change around, but we are approaching this period with our
eyes wide open. "We are in a good position, but it's only a start. It's good
to have a good amount of points and you are confident."
Bilic is also without another star man - Dimitri Payet - for the trip to
White Hart Lane but Diafra Sakho returns to the squad this weekend. The
manager said: "You don't have to be West Ham manager to say he is really
important. Dimitri Payet is our best player. "His impact on not only us but
the Premier League is huge. He is very important in terms of scoring goals,
assets or keeping the ball. We are going to miss him. It was simply a very
bad tackle. He is irreplaceable. "That is why he is Payet, he is one of
those players making the team better 50 per cent. It is a question mark to
me to see how we will look without him. "We have a lot of quality players
and the players have to step up and do more for us to feel his absence less
than huge. It is a big blow. It'll be nine, 10 or 12 weeks. I have spoken to
him a few times and he is a very strong character."

WHO SHOULD REPLACE PAYET?

So, our midfield maestro won't be with us for three months. Somehow we'll
have to learn to do without him, which is going to be difficult bearing in
mind the number of goals he scores and the number of assists he has to his
name. It's a bitter blow. It will also be a test of Slaven Bilic's
management because it's not obvious how to deal with Payet's absence. Does
he move Lanzini to Payet's position? That would be the most obvious thing to
do, but for a player at the top of his game, might it affect him too much?
Should Alex Song be brought into the starting line-up, thereby giving
Kouyate the opportunity to move forward more, or should Michail Antonio
finally get his chance, either in Payet's position or replacing Lanzini if
he should replace Payet? I don't know if Moses has ever played the Payet
role, but that might also be worth looking at.
So many options, and I suppose that's something to be grateful for, but what
would you do? I think I'd take the risk and bring in Antonio. He must be
chomping at the bit. Let's hope he is a revelation!

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic insists he wouldn't even let his dogs support

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic says he does not hate Spurs – but joked he would
not even let his dogs support them. The Croat is already a legend at Upton
Park following a career that has seen him star as a player and now manager.
But he insists he will not be placing any particular importance on Sunday's
trip to White Hart Lane, even though he will be checking whether his pet
dogs are still wearing their claret and blue collars. He barked: "I don't
feel any dislike towards Spurs. No. "But they are a London club. It means a
lot to the fans because you have all West Ham fans working with Spurs fans.
"It is a good thing when you win because you can't wait to go to work and
tease them or whatever. If you lose, it's not very pleasant. "In my
apartment, we are all West Ham. I don't think my dogs are Spurs fans, but I
will check it. This morning they looked at me a little bit differently!"
West Ham have not lost in the last three visits to Tottenham. And Bilic, who
made his Hammers playing debut in a 1-0 White Hart Lane win in 1996, added:
"Spurs know we are a club that can harm them. It would not be the first
time. Last year, they got away with a draw. "It was a great game for West
Ham, 2-0 and then 2-2 in the last second. It means more for us, but not just
for the Spurs game. "We are confident now because we know whoever we play,
if we are good, we have a chance. "We will approach the game with that
knowledge that if we are on top of our game we have a good chance."
West Ham will miss star player Dimitri Payet, who is out for three months
after injuring his ankle against Everton in a challenge with James McCarthy.
Bilic said: "You don't have to be West Ham manager to say he is really
important. Dimitri is our best player. "His impact on not only us but the
Premier is huge. "He is very important in terms of scoring goals, assists or
keeping the ball. "We are going to miss him. It was simply a very bad
tackle. He is irreplaceable. "He is one of those players making the team
better 50 per cent. I question how we will look without him."

Spanish shot-stopper shares surname with popular lager San Miguel and aims
to get a round in if Slaven Bilic's team keeps up their good record against

Keeper Adrian has promised to get the drinks in if West Ham beat bitter
rivals Tottenham this weekend – and the beer will have his name on it. The
Spanish stopper's full name is Adrian San Miguel but he decided long ago to
kick the booze – off his shirt at least. "If you put San Miguel on the back
then it looks like you don't have a serious name to play football," he said.
"Everyone knows San Miguel for the beer. "I like my surname but Adrian is my
name on the pitch and on my shirt. "I can promise that if we beat Tottenham
– and it will be a difficult game because they are playing well at home –
then I will buy San Miguel for everyone."
Adrian bought a round of beers for the press after West Ham beat Spurs three
times in the 2013-14 season and is hopeful they can do it again at White
Hart Lane on Sunday. The Hammers are flying high under Slaven Bilic after
winning at Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City and beating Chelsea at
home so don't expect them to be intimidated by Spurs. Opponents are taking
West Ham and Adrian very seriously as they look to say goodbye to Upton
Park with a memorable final season at their spiritual home.
Adrian has been a major part of their start to the season and says he loves
his "special" connection with the fans. "We are enjoying our last season at
Upton Park, we need to have a really good final season," he said. "It's
really big for the players as well as the fans and the club. It's a really
big motivation. "We are starting to move to a big new stadium for a modern
West Ham United. "If anyone had looked at our fixtures at the start of the
season they would have said what a tough start it was away from home. "But
we have got amazing results against big teams and now we have their respect
as well as the respect of the people in England. "The fans have always been
super to me. It's difficult when you move from abroad to have a special
relationship with the fans. They like English players – it's like in Spain
where they like the Spanish players. "But I feel really proud because West
Ham fans have been amazing from the moment I arrived and they help me adapt
to the team. They have backed me and that gives you confidence on the pitch,
it makes you feel stronger and more powerful on the pitch."
Adrian insists the difference this season is that West Ham have a squad that
can cope with injuries to players like Dimitri Payet and Enner Valencia.
"We have to look for the bench now because there are other players with
quality but with different names," said Adrian. "The squad is much stronger
this year." Adrian moved to West Ham in 2013 after taking advice from former
Liverpool No.1 Pepe Reina and, with David De Gea at Manchester United,
Spanish keepers are well represented in the Premier League. His wife Tamara
– who teaches English to foreign students – taught him the language and he
believes the whole experience has made him a better keeper even if he finds
some traditions difficult. Adrian added: "Everyone can see the Spanish
keepers are at a really good level. When you play games you get experience.
When you feel the No.1 for your team, you get more confidence and feel more
comfortable on the pitch. "Playing games over Christmas is normal here but
for a lot of foreign players it's hard. It might be their first season and
they bring their family over – and yet they're playing football. "I love
playing football but you also need a little break to enjoy with your family
and friends, especially when you are out of your country. "And the weather
here is very different!"
Adrian reckons that, Joe Hart apart, the best keepers are all foreign. Joe
Hart is a good English keeper and in great form," he said. "But otherwise
Petr Cech is amazing and has had an amazing career. Keepers don't score
goals but they win you points. "Cech does that for Arsenal, he is fantastic.
Hugo Lloris is great, David De Gea too - for me they are surely the top
four."

Hammers wait on offer for winger

West Ham are waiting for Norwich City to make their feelings known on a
permanent Matt Jarvis switch to Carrow Road.
City boss Alex Neill is known to be keen to get a deal done but is holding
fire until the former Wolves man returns from a knee injury.
The £9 million Hammers signing has made a good start to life with Premier
League newcomers who currently sit in 15th position and should they remain
as a Premier League force a deal is likely to be done.
The Hammers are ready to cut their losses on the player and would accept
around £5 million but aren't expecting the Canaries to make a move in
January.
A well placed source inside Upton Park told us: " If they stay up and he
has a good season, they are bound to look at it but we would probably do any
business at the end of the season although he has done well so you never
know."
Jarvis was injured in the last match against Manchester City but is expected
back early next month.

Carroll and the 'missus' well settled in Essex

In recent weeks Hammer Andy Carroll has been linked to a return to the North
East.
It has become the dullest repeat story for months that he could be on his
way back to his home town of Newcastle under different managers.
More recently it's been reported he could move to his home town's arch
rivals, Sunderland and rejoin Sam Allardyce.
In my personal view neither of these paper stories are true for the simple
reason that the player is very settled in Essex.
Mr Carroll seems to have put his wild partying days behind since meeting his
Billi Mucklow and getting engaged last November. The couple bought a house
together in Essex last December dubbed 'Carroll Castle' and Billi gave birth
to their first child Arlo in June this year.
Andy and Billi's new circle of friends and support network are Essex based
and Billi's Bikram Yoga studio business is also based in Loughton, Essex. I
am told the young family would be reluctant to move away from London.
After a £17m transfer fee and basic wages of £85,000 per week many will say
Andy Carroll owes us big time.
He will never be our number one striker while Sakho is fit and will need to
be content with sitting on the bench waiting for his chance as an impact sub
when Bilic's sees fit.

French National Anthem at WHL

West Ham fans will join with Tottenham Hotspur supporters in singing the
French National Anthem at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
The Premier League has told all clubs to ensure that they play the anthem
before all games this weekend and it brought immediate support from inside
the club.
Manager Slaven Bilic immediately declared: "We are sorry for all the people
who died and for their families. We are proud that before every game the
Marseillaise will play."
ClaretandHugh is delighted that the PL have made the move at the end of a
week where all our minds are preoccupied with the Paris terrorist attack.
That West Ham should be involved ahead of a game involving our fiercest
rivals is great and gives us all the opportunity – wherever we are coming
from – to accept that some things are bigger than local rivalries.
We will all be joining in as we remember that horrendous night in Paris.

Irons send a message to Serie A "target"

West Ham sent a message to AC Milan's Keisuke Honda this morning after the
29 year old after he had made it clear he wouldn't leave the Italian outfit
unless told he wasn't wanted. Honda has been regularly linked with a move to
the Irons after struggling to land a place with the San Siro based Serie A
outfit. However, even should he be made available ClaretandHugh has learned
the Irons hold no interest in him and were told: "I think we are quite well
stocked in that area with Payet and Lanzini." A source added: "This player
has been regularly linked with us but there is little money available and
even if there were it would be used in other areas."
The Japanese international had told Nikkan Sports: "I won't leave Milan of
my own desire. "Unless they tell me they don't want me here, I'm not moving.
I'm certainly not going to be the one running away. Our source said: "He's a
decent player but not one we will be pursuing."

Hello,
I hope you are looking forward to our encounter with Tottenham Hotspur this
weekend, as it'll be my first taste of this particular London derby, I
certainly am!
Talking to the lads who have been here for a while, you can tell how
important it is to everyone at the Club.
There's a special atmosphere around the training ground whenever the big
games come round and I am confident we will more than rise to the occasion.
Going back to the international break, it was clearly a very special moment
for me personally. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that helping the boys to
qualify for the European Championships next summer is my career highlight.
I owe a lot to everyone at West Ham United who has helped me since I joined,
I truly believe I wouldn't have been given my opportunity at international
level if I hadn't made the step up to the Premier League.
It's always been a dream of mine to play at a major international
tournament; I remember watching the Euros and World Cups at home, so I am
delighted to be going to France next summer.
As you can imagine, Ginge is buzzing about the idea too!
Having progressed through the play offs we're in the lowest pot so we're
going to get a difficult group.
I haven't really had time to look at the potential combination of teams we
might get but they're all going to be good teams and we'll look forward to
playing whoever we're drawn against.
Last Monday, it was a great atmosphere; it was the loudest the Aviva have
been for a while, if at all. The noise levels kept on going up and up, it
was amazing.
We knew we had to keep it tight, focus on our jobs and that's exactly what
happened. We got an early goal which helped massively.
At the final whistle, Martin O'Neil didn't have much of an opportunity to
say much afterwards because of the celebrations. To be fair, everyone had to
return to their Clubs pretty quickly so nothing got out of hand but it was a
nice moment. Once that had calmed down a bit he just said welcome and
congratulated everyone.
It's definitely the highlight of my career so far, qualifying for the
European Championships; it doesn't get much better than that.

Payet - We can achieve something really special

Dimitri Payet is already dreaming about his return to first-team action in
the New Year and would love to help West Ham United qualify for Europe as
they prepare to move into the new Stadium. Payet has been ruled out for
three months with an ankle injury, but with the team enjoying an impressive
start to the campaign, the France star sees no reason why they cannot cement
their place in top six during his absence. Manuel Lanzini has been a
revelation for the Club following his arrival back in the summer while Mauro
Zarate and Michail Antonio are pushing hard for a first-team place. With
Alex Song also ready to make a return to first-team action, Slaven Bilic has
plenty of options to choose from while Payet begins his journey back to full
fitness. The former Marseille midfielder will be keeping a close eye on
results over the next few weeks and hopes to play his part in making this a
special final season at the Boleyn Ground. Payet said: "It would be
fantastic if we could qualify for Europe next season. The season is very
long and we have many games coming up in a short space of time which could
be crucial. I hope to come back with the team still on track to achieve
something really special this season. "With the new Stadium next season that
will be a huge step forward for the Club in terms of it's history. I signed
a long-term deal here to be part of this project and if West Ham qualify for
Europe that will be fantastic for everyone at the Club. "But we should also
not put too much pressure on ourselves and I speak from experience knowing
that to do well in Europe it requires a whole host of things and you need
lots of energy throughout the Club. "You need to bring in new players and
have a bigger squad to cope. If we do it we need to make sure that we do it
in the right way and not rush it. "I have full confidence in my team-mates.
There have been many injuries and suspensions since the start of the season.
Every time a player has had to come into the team they have done very well
and have even won some games. I am very confident that the team can do well
without me and that the coach can find a solution to carry on this good run.
"They are very good players and even if when I was not playing they were
still performing at 100 per cent. That is what a team is about and everyone
needs to perform at their best. Manuel and Mauro are very good players and I
have no doubts they will perform well in my absence and bring the team
exactly what it needs."

Ladies keeper up for prestigious award

West Ham United Ladies' Indian international goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan is
hoping to be named the 2015 Woman in Football winner at Thursday night's
Asian Football Awards at Wembley Stadium.
Chauhan attracted plenty of mainstream publicity both in the UK and India
when she joined the Hammers back in August as she became the first Indian
woman to feature at FA Women's Premier League level in England.
Now, just over three months later and Chauhan has been nominated for the
Woman in Football award at the third annual Asian Football Awards and she
was extremely thankful to everyone that made it possible.
"It's a huge honour for me and I'd like to thank the Asian Football Awards
for considering me for this award," said Chauhan. "Also to all the
supporters that voted for me and, of course, to West Ham United for
promoting this nomination as it really helped me make it into the final
list."
The 22-year-old has been nominated for the award alongside Tanvie Hans and
Monica Sharma of Fulham FC Ladies and London Bari LFC captain Sabah Mahmoud
and, should Chauhan come away with the award, she is hoping that her success
will help towards the next generation of female footballers back in India.
"I think football is growing back in India, continued Chauhan. "Being from
India where we don't have any professional league or league structure as
such, it's a big deal and more importantly for me now as I feel like I have
more responsibility because I'm representing my country and I'm being like a
role model for the people that are interested.
"It's great that I'm in a position where I can inspire young talent and
young girls to consider football as a career in the future."
Chauhan, who most recently represented India at senior level during the 2014
Asian Games in South Korea, was studying a Business Management Masters at
Loughborough University when her football career took its most famous step
and she now feels like she is adapting to English football well.
"It's been a big step up for me as I was playing for Loughborough University
last season and this is definitely a higher level to that," she added. "It
obviously took a while to adjust but I think I'm doing really well now.
"There is much better co-ordination and communication within the team now
and we can hopefully get more good results during the rest of the season."
Off the pitch though, Chauhan has been interviewed by a number of media
outlets about her journey from BBC London and BBC Asian Network Radio to the
Times of India and India Today, which was a reaction she didn't expect at
all.
"It obviously feels great and I wasn't expecting any of this but since I
joined West Ham, the news has gone viral on social media and I'm
continuously being interviewed by all the major newspapers and news channels
back in India and here in the UK.
"I've been interviewed by the BBC too where I recently went on air for the
BBC Asian Network and now I've been nominated for the Asian Football Awards
so it's all very positive and it's overwhelming for me.
"It feels great that all the struggle and the hard work was worth it because
more people are starting to know about me and my journey which is great."
During a recent visit to Upton Park for the Premier League game against
Everton, Chauhan and her West Ham Ladies team mates Katie Bottom, Natalie
Strange and Amy Gullefer got the chance to meet West Ham Joint-Chairman
David Gold, who offered his support and admitted that he would love Chauhan
to take home Thursday's award.
"We are very supportive and would love her to win as that would be fantastic
and anything that we can do to help, that's what we will do," revealed Mr
Gold. "We are always hoping that women's football will grow and become more
popular and sometimes it's like we will have to win the World Cup or
something to generate interest, but for someone to possibly win an award
like this, that would be fantastic and it all give impetus to women's
football."

the award nomination.

Mauro Zarate is eager to secure the bragging rights when West Ham United
travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Not only does the No10 know how much
this London derby means to Hammers supporters, but he is also keen to get
one over fellow Argentines Mauricio Pochettino and Federico Fazio.
For a player who has already played in derby matches in Buenos Aires for
Velez Sarsfield, Birmingham for Birmingham City, Rome for Lazio and Milan
for Internazionale, Sunday's trip to White Hart Lane holds no fears. "We
need to win again and this is a perfect match for us because it's a derby
and it's away, so I think we have to do the perfect match to win," Zarate
told West Ham TV. "Obviously I know – we all know – how important this is to
the fans. They always want us to win against Tottenham and we will do our
best to win the match. "I know Pochettino and also Fazio, as we played
together when we won the Under-20 World Cup [in 2007]. Pochettino is a good
manager and is doing really well. "They have many good players and we have
many good players, so it will be a nice match."
Zarate will be one of those called upon to make up for the absence of
Dimitri Payet, who has been ruled out until 2016 with a high ankle sprain.
The South American has the talent to both create and score goals, as he has
done already this season, and he is ready to add to those he has netted in
wins over Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Chelsea at White Hart Lane. "Injuries
are always really bad, but even more when they are injuries to important
players," he continued. "Dimitri is an important player for us, so we have
to do our best [in his absence]. "If I am needed to play, I am always ready
to start. We are ready to win and to come back to the good way. Like I told
you before, it is a perfect match for us. "I hope I can score again like I
did against Chelsea!"

Tottenham are eleven games unbeaten in the League, there must be a good
atmosphere around White Hart Lane?
"It's been a good start to the season for Spurs but I don't think the fans
are getting too carried away just yet. They've been unlucky not to win a
number of games this season and instead have come away with a draw that
could cost them dearly if they are fighting for that Champions League place
come May.
"Having said that they do look threatening going forward and now Harry Kane
is back scoring goals there seems to be no stopping him which is thoroughly
pleasing the fans."
Which players have stood out for you so far this season?
"It has to be Dele Alli at the moment. Coming from MK Dons and only 19,
there was a bit of uncertainty about how he'll get on at first but he's
thrown himself straight into it. He's shown a lot of confidence and as well
as threatening the opposition. That has been backed up by getting called up
by the England squad.
"His performance on Tuesday against France shows how much of an exciting
prospect he is for English football. He's soon become a favourite of the
fans and his partnership with Son in the midfield has been something that
has naturally fallen into place."
What is Mauricio Pochettino's standing with the fans like?
"Mauricio Pochettino has been impressive this season, he had a quite a tough
job last season balancing the squad with the amount of fixtures they had.
But this season he's displayed passion on the touchline which fans always
want to see and it looks as though he's dedicated to bring through young,
English players.
"Thankfully that really seems to be working for him. He's focussed on
playing attacking football and he stuck by Kane- a move which has really
pulled off in recent matches."
Is there are a particular Tottenham v West Ham United derby that stands out
for you?
"Tottenham winning 4-3 in injury time against West Ham in 2007 was a
memorable game. Spurs coming back from being 3-2 down with a couple of
minutes left to play was just unbelievable."
What have you made of West Ham this season?
"We've covered every West Ham game this season on BBC Radio London and I
have to say they have been one of the most exciting teams in the Premier
League– you never know what is going to happen.
"Their win over Chelsea has to be one of the stand-out matches so far. It's
such a shame that Dimitri Payet is out injured because he's really added
another dimension to the West Ham team, making chances out of nowhere with
style and creativity."
What is your prediction for the score of Sunday?
"One of the hardest matches to call because both sides have struggled
holding onto a lead this season but I think it will end up 2-1 Tottenham. I
think West Ham will struggle without Payet dominating play and I think the
Spurs' England boys will be fired up after Tuesday to get a win at White
Hart Lane."

Hello everybody,
We have a few matches coming up against clubs which I have personal
connections with, starting with the trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday,
then home games with my old manager Tony Pulis' West Bromwich Albion and
another of my old clubs, Stoke City.
It will be a tough game. As good a start as West Ham United have made this
season, Spurs have as well. They've got a good team with lots of young
players in it, so they're full of energy.
I've seen a bit of Spurs and I've been impressed with them, to be honest.
I've also been impressed with West Ham, so I think it'll be an entertaining
game.
The loss of Dimitri Payet is massive for the Hammers, so it will be
interesting to see how we cope without him.
That said, this is the best West Ham squad I have seen in a long, long time
so there are players there who can come in do a very good job. Payet was the
X factor in the team and has something a little bit special, but the squad
has some very good players in it.
Manuel Lanzini has been superb this season and I'm sure he will step up to
the plate. I've been really impressed with him. He looks a brilliant
footballer and the goal he scored against Everton was top-drawer the way he
caressed it into the top corner. It was a top, top goal.
He has been doing it for the team all season and he will take on a pivotal
role as the creator in the team.
West Ham have done well at White Hart Lane in recent years and, while some
people not agree, I think it helps when you have got results at certain
stadia in the past.
Obviously this is a different Spurs team, but I'm sure those West Ham
players who played in those games will take those memories into Sunday's
game and be inspired by them.
As for Spurs, I think the main threats will come from Dele Alli and Harry
Kane, to be honest. Harry is scoring goals again and his hold-up play is
very good. His touch is good and he is strong, so he'll be a big threat.
Dele Alli has also been very impressive. I didn't think he would be able to
make the step up to the Premier League – and international football – so
quickly, to be honest, but to be fair to him he looks like a complete
midfielder. He can tackle and score goals and is one of the best midfielders
about at the minute.
Those are the main two Spurs players that West Ham will have to keep an eye
on, in my view.
I'm certainly looking forward to watching the game and seeing how Slaven
Bilic sets his team up to beat Spurs and I'm sure you all are too!

Aaron Cresswell is hoping for better luck than last season when West Ham
face London rivals Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday. West Ham earned
just a point from two meetings against Spurs last season, losing 1-0 at home
thanks to a 93rd-minute Eric Dier strike before surrendering a two-goal lead
in the last 10 minutes at White Hart Lane, with Harry Kane grabbing a
96th-minute equaliser. Spurs are fifth in the table this season on 21
points, ahead of West Ham on goal difference. "When the fixtures come out
the Tottenham games are one of the ones we look for first," West Ham
defender Aaron Cresswell told the club's website. "Last season I think we
were the better side and were unlucky not to win."

I don't believe West Ham will do much business in the January transfer
window. If any. I suspect there may be one or two outgoing players, but if
we are to make any signings let's do one big one and leave it at that. I've
got no suggestions as to who it might be or in what position, but we should
give up on signing average players. We have cover in every position now, so
if we have money to spend, let's spend it on one top notch player.
I hate to say this but I do think we should sell James Collins in January.
Sam Allardyce is rumoured to want him at Sunderland, and in my opinion we
should let him go for a decent fee. The reason I hate to say it is because
he has been immense for us and I love his bulldog spirit. However, he's 32
and in the last year of his contract. In January we could probably get up to
£2 million for him. In addition, we have Ogbonna to cover for Tomkins and
Reid, who are clearly the first choice pairing, and we also have Reece
Burke, who is on loan at Bradford and by all accounts has been their player
of the season so far. We also have Kouyate and Joey O'Brien who can both
play in central defence if needed.
So what does everyone think. Should be bid farewell to the Ginger Pele? I
feel awful even asking the question.
UPDATE: As someone points out in the comments, we also have Reece Oxford and
Doneil Henry. From what I have seen of Henry he is a top quality player.

Aaron Cresswell insists he is not worrying about being kept out of the
England picture. The West Ham left-back, who has attracted the attentions of
reigning champions Chelsea and current leaders Manchester City in the
transfer market, has impressed at Upton Park but has so far been snubbed by
Roy Hodgson. Cresswell, 25, has played 50 games for the Hammers being signed
from Championship Ipswich last year. And he is set to start for West Ham
against Spurs this weekend. He said: "I never really look at it like I
should be in the squad. "I don't compare myself to the players that are in
the squad. I just concentrate on doing my best for West Ham, and hopefully
one day it [England] will happen. "If you ask any pro footballer what their
ambitions are, that would be right up there and a highlight for any player.
"But at the moment I just concentrate on doing my best for West Ham.
"I'm just going to keep my head down and keep working."

Different day same silly story

if I didn't have a calender, diary or a watch I'd know we were approaching
the transfer window via the same old stories doing the same old rounds.
I've read at least three times this week that we are still holding a major
interest in Turkish striker Burak Yilmaz – this is the same Yilmaz whom we
were constantly told in the summer was on the brink of joining us.
The only justification I can see for this story is that apparenty Slaven
Bilic apparently admires him. He also admires Ronaldo and Messi by the way!
They ain't joining either.
However, the Yilmaz story is our there again on any number of sites and in
some cases from the Turkish media.
The fact that at 30 years of age he is priced at anywhere between £10m to
£15 million, depending on which report you read, doesn't appear to have a
rung a bell inside the head of those reporting it.
For goodness sake, he heading towards the twilight of career and has never
played outside of Turkey whilst at the same time West Ham don't have a bean
for transfer dealings at this moment and would have to sell to buy even if
there was interest – which there's not.
Barely a day went by in the summer without this particularly silly rumour
being recycled and if it was ever going to happen it would have happened
then when there was plenty of time for it to take place.
This one isn't on – just needed to put that to bed!

Massive double boost for Irons at Spurs

Angelo Ogbonna is fit and ready to take his place in the Irons team on
Sunday And Alex Song is also available as Slaven Bilic prepares his team in
the absence of Dimitri Payet and Enner Valencia. The Hammers – despite
missing their chief play maker – look in good order otherwise and the £8
million Ogbonna is hoping to force his way back into the team for the big
London derby. And David Gold cleared up any lingering doubts that the former

Speculation that Angelo Ogbonna may have been unable to settle in the UK
since his arrival at West Ham seem entirely unfounded.
Former Hammers scout and academy coach Gianluca Nani had suggested in the
Italia media that the £8 million signing from Juventus may have been unable
to adjust to life in a new country.
But a glance at the central defender's Twitter feed suggests that there is
nothing in the player's mind other than giving the Hammers his entire
support.

Ogbonna has had some injury worries to cope with since arriving at the
Boleyn but club insiders are well impressed with his attitude with one
saying: "Angelo is among the most popular players in the dressing room. It's
nonsense to say he's unsettled."
And as we reported earlier there is no chance of him being loaned anywhere
in January with the same source Telling us: " There's zero chance of that.
"He's been unlucky with injuries, so we haven't seen the best of him, but

him and declared: "I'm fascinated to see how the manager will set the team
up for Spurs. "We have many options now and whilst all the pundits have
explained that Lanzini can play the Payet role, we are about to find out who
will be taking over his job. "It could be Zarate and there may even be a
role now for Michail Antonio – we'll have to wait and see but it really is

Hello,
I hope you are looking forward to our encounter with Tottenham Hotspur this
weekend, as it'll be my first taste of this particular London derby, I
certainly am!
Talking to the lads who have been here for a while, you can tell how
important it is to everyone at the Club.
There's a special atmosphere around the training ground whenever the big
games come round and I am confident we will more than rise to the occasion.
Going back to the international break, it was clearly a very special moment
for me personally. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that helping the boys to
qualify for the European Championships next summer is my career highlight.
I owe a lot to everyone at West Ham United who has helped me since I joined,
I truly believe I wouldn't have been given my opportunity at international
level if I hadn't made the step up to the Premier League.
It's always been a dream of mine to play at a major international
tournament; I remember watching the Euros and World Cups at home, so I am
delighted to be going to France next summer.
As you can imagine, Ginge is buzzing about the idea too!
Having progressed through the play offs we're in the lowest pot so we're
going to get a difficult group.
I haven't really had time to look at the potential combination of teams we
might get but they're all going to be good teams and we'll look forward to
playing whoever we're drawn against.
Last Monday, it was a great atmosphere; it was the loudest the Aviva have
been for a while, if at all. The noise levels kept on going up and up, it
was amazing.
We knew we had to keep it tight, focus on our jobs and that's exactly what
happened. We got an early goal which helped massively.
At the final whistle, Martin O'Neil didn't have much of an opportunity to
say much afterwards because of the celebrations. To be fair, everyone had to
return to their Clubs pretty quickly so nothing got out of hand but it was a
nice moment. Once that had calmed down a bit he just said welcome and
congratulated everyone.
It's definitely the highlight of my career so far, qualifying for the
European Championships; it doesn't get much better than that.

Payet - We can achieve something really special

Dimitri Payet is already dreaming about his return to first-team action in
the New Year and would love to help West Ham United qualify for Europe as
they prepare to move into the new Stadium. Payet has been ruled out for
three months with an ankle injury, but with the team enjoying an impressive
start to the campaign, the France star sees no reason why they cannot cement
their place in top six during his absence. Manuel Lanzini has been a
revelation for the Club following his arrival back in the summer while Mauro
Zarate and Michail Antonio are pushing hard for a first-team place. With
Alex Song also ready to make a return to first-team action, Slaven Bilic has
plenty of options to choose from while Payet begins his journey back to full
fitness. The former Marseille midfielder will be keeping a close eye on
results over the next few weeks and hopes to play his part in making this a
special final season at the Boleyn Ground. Payet said: "It would be
fantastic if we could qualify for Europe next season. The season is very
long and we have many games coming up in a short space of time which could
be crucial. I hope to come back with the team still on track to achieve
something really special this season. "With the new Stadium next season that

Ladies keeper up for prestigious award

West Ham United Ladies' Indian international goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan is
hoping to be named the 2015 Woman in Football winner at Thursday night's
Asian Football Awards at Wembley Stadium.
Chauhan attracted plenty of mainstream publicity both in the UK and India
when she joined the Hammers back in August as she became the first Indian
woman to feature at FA Women's Premier League level in England.
Now, just over three months later and Chauhan has been nominated for the
Woman in Football award at the third annual Asian Football Awards and she
was extremely thankful to everyone that made it possible.
"It's a huge honour for me and I'd like to thank the Asian Football Awards
for considering me for this award," said Chauhan. "Also to all the
supporters that voted for me and, of course, to West Ham United for
promoting this nomination as it really helped me make it into the final
list."
The 22-year-old has been nominated for the award alongside Tanvie Hans and
Monica Sharma of Fulham FC Ladies and London Bari LFC captain Sabah Mahmoud
and, should Chauhan come away with the award, she is hoping that her success
will help towards the next generation of female footballers back in India.
"I think football is growing back in India, continued Chauhan. "Being from
India where we don't have any professional league or league structure as
such, it's a big deal and more importantly for me now as I feel like I have
more responsibility because I'm representing my country and I'm being like a
role model for the people that are interested.
"It's great that I'm in a position where I can inspire young talent and
young girls to consider football as a career in the future."
Chauhan, who most recently represented India at senior level during the 2014
Asian Games in South Korea, was studying a Business Management Masters at
Loughborough University when her football career took its most famous step
and she now feels like she is adapting to English football well.
"It's been a big step up for me as I was playing for Loughborough University
last season and this is definitely a higher level to that," she added. "It
obviously took a while to adjust but I think I'm doing really well now.
"There is much better co-ordination and communication within the team now
and we can hopefully get more good results during the rest of the season."
Off the pitch though, Chauhan has been interviewed by a number of media
outlets about her journey from BBC London and BBC Asian Network Radio to the
Times of India and India Today, which was a reaction she didn't expect at
all.
"It obviously feels great and I wasn't expecting any of this but since I
joined West Ham, the news has gone viral on social media and I'm
continuously being interviewed by all the major newspapers and news channels
back in India and here in the UK.
"I've been interviewed by the BBC too where I recently went on air for the
BBC Asian Network and now I've been nominated for the Asian Football Awards
so it's all very positive and it's overwhelming for me.
"It feels great that all the struggle and the hard work was worth it because
more people are starting to know about me and my journey which is great."
During a recent visit to Upton Park for the Premier League game against
Everton, Chauhan and her West Ham Ladies team mates Katie Bottom, Natalie
Strange and Amy Gullefer got the chance to meet West Ham Joint-Chairman
David Gold, who offered his support and admitted that he would love Chauhan
to take home Thursday's award.
"We are very supportive and would love her to win as that would be fantastic
and anything that we can do to help, that's what we will do," revealed Mr
Gold. "We are always hoping that women's football will grow and become more
popular and sometimes it's like we will have to win the World Cup or
something to generate interest, but for someone to possibly win an award
like this, that would be fantastic and it all give impetus to women's
football."

Mauro Zarate is eager to secure the bragging rights when West Ham United
travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Not only does the No10 know how much
this London derby means to Hammers supporters, but he is also keen to get
one over fellow Argentines Mauricio Pochettino and Federico Fazio.
For a player who has already played in derby matches in Buenos Aires for
Velez Sarsfield, Birmingham for Birmingham City, Rome for Lazio and Milan
for Internazionale, Sunday's trip to White Hart Lane holds no fears. "We
need to win again and this is a perfect match for us because it's a derby
and it's away, so I think we have to do the perfect match to win," Zarate

best to win the match. "I know Pochettino and also Fazio, as we played
together when we won the Under-20 World Cup [in 2007]. Pochettino is a good

Tottenham are eleven games unbeaten in the League, there must be a good
atmosphere around White Hart Lane?
"It's been a good start to the season for Spurs but I don't think the fans
are getting too carried away just yet. They've been unlucky not to win a
number of games this season and instead have come away with a draw that
could cost them dearly if they are fighting for that Champions League place
come May.
"Having said that they do look threatening going forward and now Harry Kane
is back scoring goals there seems to be no stopping him which is thoroughly
pleasing the fans."
Which players have stood out for you so far this season?
"It has to be Dele Alli at the moment. Coming from MK Dons and only 19,
there was a bit of uncertainty about how he'll get on at first but he's
thrown himself straight into it. He's shown a lot of confidence and as well
as threatening the opposition. That has been backed up by getting called up
by the England squad.
"His performance on Tuesday against France shows how much of an exciting
prospect he is for English football. He's soon become a favourite of the
fans and his partnership with Son in the midfield has been something that
has naturally fallen into place."
What is Mauricio Pochettino's standing with the fans like?
"Mauricio Pochettino has been impressive this season, he had a quite a tough
job last season balancing the squad with the amount of fixtures they had.
But this season he's displayed passion on the touchline which fans always
want to see and it looks as though he's dedicated to bring through young,
English players.
"Thankfully that really seems to be working for him. He's focussed on
playing attacking football and he stuck by Kane- a move which has really
pulled off in recent matches."
Is there are a particular Tottenham v West Ham United derby that stands out
for you?
"Tottenham winning 4-3 in injury time against West Ham in 2007 was a
memorable game. Spurs coming back from being 3-2 down with a couple of
minutes left to play was just unbelievable."
What have you made of West Ham this season?
"We've covered every West Ham game this season on BBC Radio London and I
have to say they have been one of the most exciting teams in the Premier
League– you never know what is going to happen.
"Their win over Chelsea has to be one of the stand-out matches so far. It's
such a shame that Dimitri Payet is out injured because he's really added
another dimension to the West Ham team, making chances out of nowhere with
style and creativity."
What is your prediction for the score of Sunday?
"One of the hardest matches to call because both sides have struggled
holding onto a lead this season but I think it will end up 2-1 Tottenham. I
think West Ham will struggle without Payet dominating play and I think the
Spurs' England boys will be fired up after Tuesday to get a win at White
Hart Lane."

Hello everybody,
We have a few matches coming up against clubs which I have personal
connections with, starting with the trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday,
then home games with my old manager Tony Pulis' West Bromwich Albion and
another of my old clubs, Stoke City.
It will be a tough game. As good a start as West Ham United have made this
season, Spurs have as well. They've got a good team with lots of young
players in it, so they're full of energy.
I've seen a bit of Spurs and I've been impressed with them, to be honest.
I've also been impressed with West Ham, so I think it'll be an entertaining
game.
The loss of Dimitri Payet is massive for the Hammers, so it will be
interesting to see how we cope without him.
That said, this is the best West Ham squad I have seen in a long, long time
so there are players there who can come in do a very good job. Payet was the
X factor in the team and has something a little bit special, but the squad
has some very good players in it.
Manuel Lanzini has been superb this season and I'm sure he will step up to
the plate. I've been really impressed with him. He looks a brilliant
footballer and the goal he scored against Everton was top-drawer the way he
caressed it into the top corner. It was a top, top goal.
He has been doing it for the team all season and he will take on a pivotal
role as the creator in the team.
West Ham have done well at White Hart Lane in recent years and, while some
people not agree, I think it helps when you have got results at certain
stadia in the past.
Obviously this is a different Spurs team, but I'm sure those West Ham
players who played in those games will take those memories into Sunday's
game and be inspired by them.
As for Spurs, I think the main threats will come from Dele Alli and Harry
Kane, to be honest. Harry is scoring goals again and his hold-up play is
very good. His touch is good and he is strong, so he'll be a big threat.
Dele Alli has also been very impressive. I didn't think he would be able to
make the step up to the Premier League – and international football – so
quickly, to be honest, but to be fair to him he looks like a complete
midfielder. He can tackle and score goals and is one of the best midfielders
about at the minute.
Those are the main two Spurs players that West Ham will have to keep an eye
on, in my view.
I'm certainly looking forward to watching the game and seeing how Slaven
Bilic sets his team up to beat Spurs and I'm sure you all are too!

and in the last year of his contract. In January we could probably get up to
£2 million for him. In addition, we have Ogbonna to cover for Tomkins and
Reid, who are clearly the first choice pairing, and we also have Reece
Burke, who is on loan at Bradford and by all accounts has been their player
of the season so far. We also have Kouyate and Joey O'Brien who can both
play in central defence if needed.
So what does everyone think. Should be bid farewell to the Ginger Pele? I
feel awful even asking the question.
UPDATE: As someone points out in the comments, we also have Reece Oxford and
Doneil Henry. From what I have seen of Henry he is a top quality player.

Aaron Cresswell insists he is not worrying about being kept out of the
England picture. The West Ham left-back, who has attracted the attentions of
reigning champions Chelsea and current leaders Manchester City in the
transfer market, has impressed at Upton Park but has so far been snubbed by
Roy Hodgson. Cresswell, 25, has played 50 games for the Hammers being signed
from Championship Ipswich last year. And he is set to start for West Ham
against Spurs this weekend. He said: "I never really look at it like I
should be in the squad. "I don't compare myself to the players that are in
the squad. I just concentrate on doing my best for West Ham, and hopefully

Different day same silly story

if I didn't have a calender, diary or a watch I'd know we were approaching
the transfer window via the same old stories doing the same old rounds.
I've read at least three times this week that we are still holding a major
interest in Turkish striker Burak Yilmaz – this is the same Yilmaz whom we
were constantly told in the summer was on the brink of joining us.
The only justification I can see for this story is that apparenty Slaven
Bilic apparently admires him. He also admires Ronaldo and Messi by the way!
They ain't joining either.
However, the Yilmaz story is our there again on any number of sites and in
some cases from the Turkish media.
The fact that at 30 years of age he is priced at anywhere between £10m to
£15 million, depending on which report you read, doesn't appear to have a
rung a bell inside the head of those reporting it.
For goodness sake, he heading towards the twilight of career and has never
played outside of Turkey whilst at the same time West Ham don't have a bean
for transfer dealings at this moment and would have to sell to buy even if
there was interest – which there's not.
Barely a day went by in the summer without this particularly silly rumour
being recycled and if it was ever going to happen it would have happened
then when there was plenty of time for it to take place.
This one isn't on – just needed to put that to bed!

Angelo Ogbonna is fit and ready to take his place in the Irons team on
Sunday And Alex Song is also available as Slaven Bilic prepares his team in

million Ogbonna is hoping to force his way back into the team for the big
London derby. And David Gold cleared up any lingering doubts that the former

Speculation that Angelo Ogbonna may have been unable to settle in the UK
since his arrival at West Ham seem entirely unfounded.
Former Hammers scout and academy coach Gianluca Nani had suggested in the
Italia media that the £8 million signing from Juventus may have been unable
to adjust to life in a new country.
But a glance at the central defender's Twitter feed suggests that there is
nothing in the player's mind other than giving the Hammers his entire
support.

Ogbonna has had some injury worries to cope with since arriving at the
Boleyn but club insiders are well impressed with his attitude with one
saying: "Angelo is among the most popular players in the dressing room. It's
nonsense to say he's unsettled."
And as we reported earlier there is no chance of him being loaned anywhere
in January with the same source Telling us: " There's zero chance of that.
"He's been unlucky with injuries, so we haven't seen the best of him, but
he's a key member of our squad and hopefully will be playing in the first
team soon."

man team. The co chairman has put the despair of losing Dimitri Payet behind
him and declared: "I'm fascinated to see how the manager will set the team
up for Spurs. "We have many options now and whilst all the pundits have
explained that Lanzini can play the Payet role, we are about to find out who
will be taking over his job. "It could be Zarate and there may even be a
role now for Michail Antonio – we'll have to wait and see but it really is
going to be extremely interesting." Addressing the Antonio issue in an
exclusive interview with ClaretandHugh he declared: "People have been
complaining that he hasn't had his chance as though it's a bad thing. "We

Cresswell - We are raring to go

Having marked his 50th Premier League appearance for the Hammers last time
out against Everton, Aaron Cresswell is hoping to build on his outstanding
half-century against Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday. Since joining West Ham
United in June 2014, the left-back has gone from strength to strength; not
only taking the step up to the Premier League in his stride but also being
crowned Hammer of the Year at the end of his debut season. The 25-year-old's
achievement is even more impressive considering that he has reached 50
league games in the quickest possible time, not to mention the fact he has
played every minute of those games. Reflecting on his milestone, Cresswell
said: "It's a nice figure to reach, I didn't actually realise at the time.
"A friend of mine texted me after the game, touch wood I haven't had any
injuries, and hopefully that continues. "I had a similar sort of thing at
Ipswich, I played there for three seasons and I think I only missed six
games in that time. Thankfully through the majority of my career I've stayed
injury free."
While the Hammers have thoroughly enjoyed the left-back's fitness record as
well as his sparkling form, they have not been so lucky with Cresswell's
teammates Dimitri Payet and Enner Valencia. With both attack minded players
set for a spell on the side-lines, Cresswell conceded their absences would
be keenly felt: "These things happen in football, it wasn't the best of
tackles (on Payet). At the same time, Enner has had no luck and he's out
injured again. When these things happen you just have to keep your head
down, work even harder and come back strong.
"We haven't had a game since Dimi's injury, so we haven't had to change
formation or style yet. I'm sure that's what the manager has been thinking
about a lot. Training wise, we're still buzzing about, we've done quite well
this season so we're confident and we're all looking forward to the
Tottenham game. "Obviously it's not nice to see players get injured, their
teammates and fellow professionals. For us, we have to get on with our jobs
and be s professional as possible."
Having enjoyed a few days rest and recuperation over the international
break, the defender is now raring to go with rivals Tottenham Hotspur in his
sights. Cresswell, a confident character by nature, firmly reiterated his
belief that the Hammers' have every chance of coming away from White Hart
Lane on Sunday afternoon with all three points. "When the fixtures come out
the Tottenham games are one of the ones we look for first. Last season I
think we were better side and were unlucky not to win. It's just one of
things where we were the better side over 90 minutes but couldn't quite see
it out. "Both games last season we were unlucky, even the penalty in the
last minute, Adrian almost saved it, but that went against us too. "We know
it'll be a tough game, every game is but our away form has been terrific so
far, apart from the Watford game. Across 38 games every team is going to
struggle in one or two. I thought we bounced back well against Everton and
were unlucky not to get the three points. "We know that if we play to our
best we have a very good chance, and that breeds a lot of confidence."

You played alongside Alex Song in the friendly with Crystal Palace last
week, how much of a boost is it to have him back?
"It's a huge boost. He's a great player, with a lot of experience, and
someone who can break things down but also makes things happen. It's a great
addition to the squad, especially as we've already started the season so
well. For him to come back into the squad is massive."
You mentioned his experience, he's played for Arsenal and Barcelona, how
important is that experience?
"It's invaluable. You need quality in depth and he certainly has that. We
have a great squad as it is, his return will push them to be even better and
that will push us up higher the league."
We've had some bad news with injuries recently, but that gives players like
yourself an opportunity?
"Definitely, Dimitri getting injured is a great loss as well as Enner. Their
absence gives other players the chance to become to star of the club and
allow them to show what they can do.
"Dimitri has been absolutely superb so far so he will be greatly missed.
It's time for the other boys to step up and show what they can do."
And you for personally, you must be chomping at the bit to show what you can

injury update – in association with Spire Roding Hospital...
Hello everyone,
We will start with Dimitri Payet, who has suffered a significant high ankle
sprain, or syndesmosis injury, to his left leg.
After consulting the specialist on Monday, the ankle specialist decided not
to operate on Dimitri, which is good news. The bad news is that he will
still be out for 12 weeks if all goes to plan.
Dimi is an intelligent, experienced football player with a good body
awareness and understands the biomechanics of the injury he has suffered. He
is a top professional and positive about the rehabilitation period ahead.
The first phase is to let the body heal and it is important that his high
ankle sprain is given the ability to scar. The ligaments are damaged and
need to get strong again, and this is done by allowing scar tissue to
develop.
For two weeks, he will be using the boot to keep the joint in a certain
position, allowing the body to heal without straining the injured ligaments.
Enner Valencia has suffered a high ankle sprain to his right leg. He is
going through an immobilisation period of two weeks at present and we will
reassess the situation at the end of this period.
We have some positive news regarding Diafra Sakho, who has returned to full
training following his recovery from a quadriceps injury suffered ahead of
the Watford game. Diafra will be available for Sunday's game at Tottenham
Hotspur.
Pedro Obiang will join training this week after recovering from the thigh
injury he suffered in training before the Watford away match.
Alex Song came through his first game in six months against Reading. It was
a success and he had no reaction from a medical point of view.
He is training fully with the squad for several weeks now and is getting
closer to making his return to the Premier League.
We are coming to the end of the international break. James Collins returned
after playing 45 minutes for Wales in good health, while we all congratulate
Darren Randolph on helping Republic of Ireland to qualify for EURO 2016.
Unfortunately, Darren picked up minor knock and will miss a few days off
training.
Cheikhou Kouyate had a very long haul flight to and from Madagascar, where
Senegal drew 2-2, and he then captained his country and scored in a 3-0 in
in the second leg.
So I'm pleased to report that everyone is looking forward to Sunday's big
game with Tottenham. Let's hope we can get another fine away win.

Valencia - I hope to be back as soon as possible

Enner Valencia has vowed to make a return to first-team action as quickly as
possible and hopes to play a major role for West Ham United in 2016.
Valencia was forced to miss the start of the season after he was injured
during the Europa League game agains AFC Astra Giurgiu and only made his
return to action against Watford at the end of October.
But the Ecuador international suffered more heartbreak in the next game when
he came on as a substitute against Everton and damaged his ankle following a
challenge with Seamus Coleman.
After seeing a specialist this week, Valencia was told he would be ruled out
of action until the start of the New Year, but the 26-year-old says he will
be doing everything to come back sooner.
Valencia said: "Thank God the injury isn't quite as bad as initially
thought. I hope to be back as soon as possible.
"I was worried when the injury happened. When I clashed with the Everton
player I feared it might be the same problem (as before) but it wasn't, it
was a minor ligament issue.
"I'm following all the doctor's advice and despite wearing a boot, my aim is
to get back as soon as possible.
"The first injury I suffered here was the first serious injury in my career,
it was very tough but I was very impressed by how good the medical team are
here.
"They do an amazing job and I was able to return three weeks earlier than
expected. Now more than ever I need to put my faith in them, continue to
work hard and hopefully not get many injuries in the future."
Valencia has been overwhelmed by the support that his team-mates, the
medical staff and the fans have showed towards him this season and hopes to
repay their faith by coming back and producing his best form for the Club.
Valencia added: "It definitely helps. The people have been incredibly
understanding - the board, the fans, the staff and of course my teammates.
"Being injured is the worst thing that can happen to a footballer so having
all this support is really fantastic. It's helping me have a quicker
recovery.
"I have received so many supportive messages recently on my social media
profiles, saying things like 'I hope you get back soon' and 'We would like
you back as soon as possible'. The support has been absolutely fantastic so
I would like to thank them for that."
Valencia was gutted to see his team-mate Dimitri Payet also ruled out for
three months with an ankle injury, but hopes the team will be able to cope
without both of them and can continue their impressive start to the
campaign.
"Dimitri has been having a spectacular season so far, he has been one of the
best players in the Premier League. His injury is a very unfortunate thing
to happen. We all wish him the best and hope he gets back as soon as
possible.
"I haven't had the chance to play so much this season but Dimitri has played
every game and he's been the main man. The Club did make some very good
signings this summer so I think there are players who can come in and do
well and keep our form going."

West Ham United playmaker Dimitri Payet is relieved he will not have to
undergo surgery on the injured ankle that has ruled him out for three
months. The France international, who has scored five goals in 12 Premier
League appearances this season, suffered the injury in the 1-1 draw with
Everton on November 7. He told the West Ham website: "It has been a week
since I sustained the injury. I am doing well. It is a long period but I am
looking forward to making a return to action. "Of course it is a big relief
for me that I will not need an operation. I speak from experience and having
had a couple of operations, it is not an easy thing to cope with. It is good
news on that front but it doesn't change the time that it will take me to
recover."
Payet's injury means Michail Antonio could make just his second league
appearance of the season when West Ham tackle Tottenham in their Sky Live
Super Sunday match this weekend. He is keen to take the chance to prove his

Hammers get hands-off warning from Cherries

West Ham have been warned off making any sort of move for Bournemouth winger
Matt Ritchie. The Irons are just one club that has tracked the 26 year old
along with West Brom, Manchester United and Stoke but Cherries boss Eddie
Howe insists he's not for sale. And ClaretandHugh was told this evening:
"We've scouted him – he's a good player."
But Howe insisted on Sky Sports News the club wasn't looking to sell the
player but added all bids would be considered on their merits.y'Matty's
(Ritchie) a good player so it's not a surprise to me he's linked to the top
clubs,' Howe told Sky Sports News. 'We'd have to see that (a bid) on its
individual merit, but certainly we're not looking to sell him. 'Matt Ritchie
on form and playing well is a threat to anybody. Whenever any of our players
gets linked, it's not welcome by us. 'We're not a selling club and we
certainly want to keep the squad together if we can in January and not the
other way.' The 26-year-old Ritchie signed for the south coast club from
Swindon in a £400,000 deal in January 2013, and has gone on to make over 100
appearances under Howe.

Hammers set OS season tickets target

West Ham have confirmed for the first time that they hope to increase season
ticket holders from the current 26,000 at the Boleyn Ground to between
35,000 and 40,000 season ticket holders at the Olympic Stadium.
If West Ham achieve their upper 40,000 season ticket holder target at the
Olympic Stadium it means few tickets will be available for general sale at
the newly transformed stadium. With at least 3,000 seats reserved for away
supporters for Premier League games and another 3,600 seats reserved for
corporate members, around 7,400 would be left for general sale but many of
these may be given away free of charge of part of the club's agreement with
Newham council to provide up to 100,000 tickets to local residents.
Former Arsenal director now West Ham's commercial director, Felicity Barnard
revealed that the season ticket target in an interview at a recent brand
conference which can be seen below.
"We are moving to 35,000, hoping to get to 40,000 (season tickets),
obviously with season tickets gone that allows us to have a much more fluid
match by match experience and they are going very well so we are on track to
make those numbers, absolutely. In hospitality we are doubling from 2,000 to
4,000 and we sold out in all but one lounge, so we are very pleased" Barnard
told the interviewer.

Olympic Stadium transformed to car race track

The Olympic Stadium which has seen Athletics and the Rugby World Cup this
year has been transformed once again into a race track ahead of the Race of
Champions event this weekend.
The Race Of Champions is an annual end-of-season contest which has been held
for over 25 years. It brings together the world's greatest drivers from
motor sport's major disciplines – including Formula 1, World Rally, Le Mans,
MotoGP, Nascar, IndyCar and the X-Games and let's them battle head-to-head
in identical machinery.
In recent years ROC has visited the Stade de France in Paris (2004-2006),
London's Wembley Stadium (2007-2008), the 'Bird's Nest' Olympic Stadium in
Beijing (2009), Düsseldorf's Esprit Arena (2010-2011), the Rajamangala

Payet in Paris at time of attacks

Injured Dimtri Payet has revealed he was in Paris at the time of the
terrorist attacks. The 28-year-old French man has said he is pleased that
the England game against France was allowed to take place at Wembley tonight
and hopes that sport can help bring everyone together. Payet told WHUFC.com:
"It is a very difficult time. I was in Paris over the weekend and I was very
close to everything that happened." "The support that sport can provide in
this case and with many important sporting figures showing their support has
helped for the game to take place.
"I have seen photos of Wembley in red, white and blue which is very special.
Aside from the match itself, it is going to be a very emotional evening." On
Sunday the player posted a message in French on twitter and instagram
saying "All my thoughts to the victims of these heinous crimes. Rest in
peace, and all my support to their families. Pray that men find the reason

Premier League in match day security talks

Premier League bosses have issued a statement in which they discuss the
present siutation regarding security measures which may surround the weekend
fixtures and and any requirements going forward. ClaretandHugh approached
the PL this morning and was given the following statement which we trust
will come as an assurance to fans. It reads: "We are actively engaged with
our security advisers and the appropriate authorities, including the Home
Office and senior representatives from the Police, to assess current
security guidance to Premier League clubs. There is a club meeting later
this week where a full security briefing will be given. Following that,
further guidance will be issued to the clubs as well as a public statement
so fans are fully aware of what to expect when arriving at stadiums."

event that that will long live in the memory of those who crowded into the

was there for the football but I saw many English people who I think were
there for an event and the show of solidarity between the French and our
folk was great. "There were many English kids wearing French shirts and
carrying French flags and I found myself in the 'wrong end' alongside the
visiting fans who at times were chanting for England. They were in great
spirits "There was a real show of force from armed police but it's a tribute
to the security at football staiums that these people have never got in. "Ok
there have been acts of war but what brings it home to you so strongly is
that the people who died were doing what we do – eating, drinking and having
a good time. "It was good to be a part of it and good to see England win."

Zarate agent may be busy!

Mauro Zarate's agent is apparently attempting to organise a transfer back to
Italy for his client say the Italian media. The 28-year-old has made three
starts and scored two Premier League goals for the Hammers so far this
season but he is reportedly keen on moving in order to find increased
playing time. According to GazzettaTV, Zarate's agent has been in
preliminary contact with Hellas, Verona, Genoa and and Torino as he seeks a
club interested in signing his client before the January transfer window.
Zarate previously played in Serie A while on loan at Lazio from Birmingham
City but he struggled after the deal was made permanent for around £14
million in 2009. The Argentine also made 22 appearances, scoring twice,
while on loan with Inter Milan from Lazio. Whether this all just talk in an
attempt to unsettle the player remains to be seen. Zarate has previously
been touted around other clubs while still a West Ham player. On that
occasion the player denied the agent acted on his behalf and denied he was
his adviser.

Aaron Cresswell is refusing to worry about the fact that England
international duty has so far passed him by. With France beaten last night,
the brilliant left back – now having played a remarkable 50 games since his
arrival from Ipswich – has only West Ham on his mind. He said: "I never
really look at it like I should be in the squad. don't compare myself to
the players that are in the squad. I just concentrate on doing my best for
West Ham and hopefully one day it will happen. If you ask any pro footballer
what their ambitions are, that would be right up there and a highlight for
any player. "But at the moment I just concentrate on doing my best for West
Ham. I'm just going to keep my head down and keep working."

Spurs goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris has admitted he needs to he needs
to refocus and recover ahead of the Irons visit on Sunday. And the France
goalkeeper declared himself 'emotionally drained'as he prepares to take off
the Hammers. With over 60 per cent of the Spurs squad having been on
international duty the Hammers certainly have the edge in terms of fitness,
preparation and emotional stability. Lloris said: "We have to thank the
English for the reception they gave us, for their support (at Wembley). What
they did for us was very strong, very moving. It was big of them. "The last
three days, with the preparations we've had, had clearly taken something out
of us. But the result wasn't the most important thing about this evening. It
was secondary. "Now we have to go back to our clubs, every one of us,
refocus and recover. There will be better days than this ahead, for all of
us."

TURKISH STRIKER TO ARRIVE IN JANUARY?

The speculation regarding incoming and outgoing January transfer deals has
already began. One report that particularly caught my eye was that linking
West Ham with a move for prolific Galatasaray striker, Burak Yilmaz. Yilmaz
has a very good strike rate in Turkish football, having scored 77 times in
133 appearances for Galatasaray and notched 58 goals in 93 matches for,
former club, Trabzonspor. We know that Slaven Bilic is an admirer of the
player and there were strong rumours that last summer West Ham made an
unsuccessful £3.5m bid for the striker's services. At 30 year's of age,
Yilmaz is probably ready for a last big move to the Premier League and it
has been reported that he is in the final year of his contract with
Galatasaray. So under these circumstances it is possible that the Turkish
club will seek to cash in with a cut-price deal this winter.
However, he is not the only striker that we are being linked with. There
have also been numerous reports suggesting that West Ham are interested in
signing Roma's Ivory Coast international striker, Seydou Doumbia. Doumbia is
currently on loan at CSKA Moscow, who are also reported to be interested in
striking a permanent deal. He has certainly been in good form during his
spell on loan, having scored 8 goals in 15 appearances (in all competitions)
to date. Doumbia only joined Roma last January, but his form in Serie A was
disappointing, only scoring 2 goals in 13 matches. Hence the advent of the
loan deal, but it is strongly rumoured that Roma wish to cut their losses in
January. It has not been reported whether the current loan deal gives CSKA
Moscow first option to sign the player permanently.
Interestingly, we have also been linked once again with Islam Slimani of
Sporting. Readers will recall that West Ham were originally linked to
Slimani in 2014, prior to the World Cup Finals, when it was reported that we
had agreed a deal to sign the striker for £6m. However, we delayed closing
the deal (for whatever reason). And after he starred for Algeria, in that
summer's WC, his valuation subsequently soared. Even these latest reports
quote a fee of approximately £15-18m. As such, I very much doubt that the
club would be in a position to pay that sort of fee (plus wages) in January,
unless there was a significant outgoing deal acting as a catalyst. What does
make sense is recruiting Slimani as cover/competition for Sakho. Indeed,
Slimani's style of centre-forward play is much more akin to that of Sakho,
having the ability to lead the line, work the channels, hold up the ball,
bring others in to play and finish (including strength in the air). The 27
year old has scored a total of 31 goals in 75 appearances for Sporting and
18 goals in 40 matches for Algeria. Could David Sullivan surprise us all by
cashing in on Andy Carroll and using the fee/wages freed to bring in
Slimani?
Another potential deal that could have mileage, is that linking us with a
loan move for 29 year old Japanese international play-maker, Keisuke Honda.
Honda is currently out of favour at AC Milan, having failed to impress in
Serie A, scoring just 9 goals in 56 games. He has also only started on four
occasions in this current campaign and a loan move would definitely benefit
the player as well as his club. Readers may well recall Honda establishing a
major reputation whilst playing for CSKA Moscow, including some impressive
creative displays in the Champions League. If the player can recapture that
sort of form then he would be a valuable addition. Is it not likely that
Bilic would seek to bring in another play-maker to cover for Lanzini and the
rehabilitation and return of Payet? We shall see?
Elsewhere, there have also been rumours aplenty on possible outgoing deals.
Aside from the Collins and O'Brien to Sunderland and 'Liverpool want to
steal Lanzini' conjecture, both Zarate and Ogbonna have been linked with
moves back to Serie A. In Zarate's case, agents have allegedly reported that
the player is unhappy with his playing time at West Ham and they are
consequently exploring options for a January move. Amongst those options are
said to be Torino, Gerona and Hellas Verona. Similarly, a public statement
by former West Ham Director of Football, Gianluca Nani, has sparked
speculation that Ogbonna could return to Italy. In the latter case, it is
thought that Florentina are interested in signing the Italian international
centre-back.
The probability is that business will be minimal in January, with the
acquisition of an extra play-maker on loan the most likely option. However,
there is always the possibility that an outstanding player could suddenly
become available (such as one of Bilic's former charges at Beskitas) and the
club will resultantly transact some major transfer business. We will
probably be actively looking to secure outgoing deals for Collins, O'Brien
and Jarvis to free up some wage money and (if possible) secure a transfer
fee. I do not think the Ogbonna move is likely, but someone like Zarate
could possibly go to facilitate another striker deal. I suppose the big
unknown factor is Andy Carroll and how the club would respond to an
acceptable offer by the likes of Newcastle United or Sunderland? One thing
is certain, potential suitors can forget about getting Carroll on the cheap.
I would imagine it would take at least a bid in the region of £10-12m to
tempt the club. Alternatively, perhaps nothing will happen until the summer
window, if at all?
Finally, it is Spurs up next this Sunday and hopefully we are more than
ready for them. We need Lanzini to effect a smooth, and effective,
transition to the central play-maker role and the other midfielders to step
up to compensate for the considerable loss of Payet. In particular, it may
prove to be a case of what we lose in guile, skill and vision being
compensated for by strength, power and pace! In particular, we definitely
need Kouyate to have a big game and for Song/Obiang and Antonio to play a
role in the match. It is time to prove that we are very far from a 'one man'
team! I am sticking with my call (made last week) of a 1-2 away victory for
the Hammers. COYI!

Dimitri Payet has revealed that he does not require an operation on the
ankle injury that has ruled him out of action for at least three months. The
28-year-old, who joined the Hammers from Marseille on a free transfer in the
summer, suffered the injury during West Ham's recent 1-1 draw with Everton
after a challenge with James McCarthy. Payet's extended absence will come as
a blow to Slaven Billic's side given that the Frenchman's early form has
helped the club climb to sixth place in the Premier League table. It was
initially feared that Payet would have to undergo surgery to help repair the
damage to his ankle but he is glad to have avoided such a scenario. "Of
course it is a big relief for me that I will not need an operation," he told
the club's official website. "I speak from experience and having had a
couple of operations, it is not an easy thing to cope with. "It is good news
on that front but it doesn't change the time that it will take me to
recover. "It has been a week since I sustained the injury. I am doing well."
Payet also praised the support that he has received in the early stages of
his spell on the sidelines and is already focusing his efforts on a return
to action in the New Year. "The support has been fantastic from my

West Ham United and Everton have both been placed on alert after top
transfer target Keisuke Honda admitted he is unhappy with his current role
as a bench player. The Japanese international has been frustrated by his
lack of playing time for AC Milan this season and he could be set to make a
move to the Premier League at the turn of the new year.
The Hammers were dealt a blow when playmaker Dimitri Payet suffered a long
term injury, ruling him out for three months which could have an adverse
effect on the East London side's campaign. Now Slaven Bilic is believed to
be on the look out for additions in January and Honda, 29, is thought to fit
the bill. The Upton Park side have made an impressive start to the campaign
having already beaten Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal, and will be

West Ham are set to sign 17-year-old goalkeeper Pablo Vasquez, who has
recently been on trial at the club. The Spaniard was released by Sevilla
after nagging injury concerns and began playing for his local side in
Nervion. A report from Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo (via Inside
Futbol), says that the Hammers' staff were so impressed by Vasquez during
his trial, they've offered him a contract. However, it looks likely that
Vasquez won't be moving to London immediately and instead he will join up
with his new team-mates for the beginning of the 2015/16 season. Obviously,
Vasquez will come in and join up with the West Ham youth development
programme and won't be competing with Adrian or Darren Randolph for first
team recognition immediately. However, the aim will be to prepare him to
eventually be in a position where he can put pressure on those two and
eventually force his way into Slaven Bilic's plans

Having marked his 50th Premier League appearance for the Hammers last time
out against Everton, Aaron Cresswell is hoping to build on his outstanding
half-century against Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday. Since joining West Ham
United in June 2014, the left-back has gone from strength to strength; not
only taking the step up to the Premier League in his stride but also being
crowned Hammer of the Year at the end of his debut season. The 25-year-old's
achievement is even more impressive considering that he has reached 50
league games in the quickest possible time, not to mention the fact he has
played every minute of those games. Reflecting on his milestone, Cresswell
said: "It's a nice figure to reach, I didn't actually realise at the time.
"A friend of mine texted me after the game, touch wood I haven't had any
injuries, and hopefully that continues. "I had a similar sort of thing at
Ipswich, I played there for three seasons and I think I only missed six
games in that time. Thankfully through the majority of my career I've stayed
injury free."
While the Hammers have thoroughly enjoyed the left-back's fitness record as
well as his sparkling form, they have not been so lucky with Cresswell's
teammates Dimitri Payet and Enner Valencia. With both attack minded players
set for a spell on the side-lines, Cresswell conceded their absences would
be keenly felt: "These things happen in football, it wasn't the best of
tackles (on Payet). At the same time, Enner has had no luck and he's out
injured again. When these things happen you just have to keep your head
down, work even harder and come back strong.
"We haven't had a game since Dimi's injury, so we haven't had to change
formation or style yet. I'm sure that's what the manager has been thinking
about a lot. Training wise, we're still buzzing about, we've done quite well
this season so we're confident and we're all looking forward to the
Tottenham game. "Obviously it's not nice to see players get injured, their
teammates and fellow professionals. For us, we have to get on with our jobs
and be s professional as possible."
Having enjoyed a few days rest and recuperation over the international
break, the defender is now raring to go with rivals Tottenham Hotspur in his

injury update – in association with Spire Roding Hospital...
Hello everyone,
We will start with Dimitri Payet, who has suffered a significant high ankle
sprain, or syndesmosis injury, to his left leg.
After consulting the specialist on Monday, the ankle specialist decided not
to operate on Dimitri, which is good news. The bad news is that he will
still be out for 12 weeks if all goes to plan.
Dimi is an intelligent, experienced football player with a good body
awareness and understands the biomechanics of the injury he has suffered. He
is a top professional and positive about the rehabilitation period ahead.
The first phase is to let the body heal and it is important that his high
ankle sprain is given the ability to scar. The ligaments are damaged and
need to get strong again, and this is done by allowing scar tissue to
develop.
For two weeks, he will be using the boot to keep the joint in a certain
position, allowing the body to heal without straining the injured ligaments.
Enner Valencia has suffered a high ankle sprain to his right leg. He is
going through an immobilisation period of two weeks at present and we will
reassess the situation at the end of this period.
We have some positive news regarding Diafra Sakho, who has returned to full
training following his recovery from a quadriceps injury suffered ahead of
the Watford game. Diafra will be available for Sunday's game at Tottenham
Hotspur.
Pedro Obiang will join training this week after recovering from the thigh
injury he suffered in training before the Watford away match.
Alex Song came through his first game in six months against Reading. It was
a success and he had no reaction from a medical point of view.
He is training fully with the squad for several weeks now and is getting
closer to making his return to the Premier League.
We are coming to the end of the international break. James Collins returned
after playing 45 minutes for Wales in good health, while we all congratulate
Darren Randolph on helping Republic of Ireland to qualify for EURO 2016.
Unfortunately, Darren picked up minor knock and will miss a few days off
training.
Cheikhou Kouyate had a very long haul flight to and from Madagascar, where
Senegal drew 2-2, and he then captained his country and scored in a 3-0 in
in the second leg.
So I'm pleased to report that everyone is looking forward to Sunday's big
game with Tottenham. Let's hope we can get another fine away win.

Valencia - I hope to be back as soon as possible

Enner Valencia has vowed to make a return to first-team action as quickly as
possible and hopes to play a major role for West Ham United in 2016.
Valencia was forced to miss the start of the season after he was injured
during the Europa League game agains AFC Astra Giurgiu and only made his
return to action against Watford at the end of October.
But the Ecuador international suffered more heartbreak in the next game when
he came on as a substitute against Everton and damaged his ankle following a
challenge with Seamus Coleman.
After seeing a specialist this week, Valencia was told he would be ruled out
of action until the start of the New Year, but the 26-year-old says he will
be doing everything to come back sooner.
Valencia said: "Thank God the injury isn't quite as bad as initially
thought. I hope to be back as soon as possible.
"I was worried when the injury happened. When I clashed with the Everton
player I feared it might be the same problem (as before) but it wasn't, it
was a minor ligament issue.
"I'm following all the doctor's advice and despite wearing a boot, my aim is
to get back as soon as possible.
"The first injury I suffered here was the first serious injury in my career,
it was very tough but I was very impressed by how good the medical team are
here.
"They do an amazing job and I was able to return three weeks earlier than
expected. Now more than ever I need to put my faith in them, continue to
work hard and hopefully not get many injuries in the future."
Valencia has been overwhelmed by the support that his team-mates, the
medical staff and the fans have showed towards him this season and hopes to
repay their faith by coming back and producing his best form for the Club.
Valencia added: "It definitely helps. The people have been incredibly
understanding - the board, the fans, the staff and of course my teammates.
"Being injured is the worst thing that can happen to a footballer so having
all this support is really fantastic. It's helping me have a quicker
recovery.
"I have received so many supportive messages recently on my social media

West Ham United playmaker Dimitri Payet is relieved he will not have to
undergo surgery on the injured ankle that has ruled him out for three
months. The France international, who has scored five goals in 12 Premier
League appearances this season, suffered the injury in the 1-1 draw with
Everton on November 7. He told the West Ham website: "It has been a week
since I sustained the injury. I am doing well. It is a long period but I am
looking forward to making a return to action. "Of course it is a big relief
for me that I will not need an operation. I speak from experience and having
had a couple of operations, it is not an easy thing to cope with. It is good
news on that front but it doesn't change the time that it will take me to
recover."
Payet's injury means Michail Antonio could make just his second league
appearance of the season when West Ham tackle Tottenham in their Sky Live
Super Sunday match this weekend. He is keen to take the chance to prove his
worth. He said: "Definitely, Dimitri getting injured is a great loss as well
as Enner [Valencia], but their absence gives other players the chance to
become a star of the club and allow them to show what they can do. "Dimitri

West Ham have been warned off making any sort of move for Bournemouth winger
Matt Ritchie. The Irons are just one club that has tracked the 26 year old
along with West Brom, Manchester United and Stoke but Cherries boss Eddie
Howe insists he's not for sale. And ClaretandHugh was told this evening:
"We've scouted him – he's a good player."
But Howe insisted on Sky Sports News the club wasn't looking to sell the
player but added all bids would be considered on their merits.y'Matty's
(Ritchie) a good player so it's not a surprise to me he's linked to the top
clubs,' Howe told Sky Sports News. 'We'd have to see that (a bid) on its
individual merit, but certainly we're not looking to sell him. 'Matt Ritchie
on form and playing well is a threat to anybody. Whenever any of our players

Hammers set OS season tickets target

West Ham have confirmed for the first time that they hope to increase season
ticket holders from the current 26,000 at the Boleyn Ground to between
35,000 and 40,000 season ticket holders at the Olympic Stadium.
If West Ham achieve their upper 40,000 season ticket holder target at the
Olympic Stadium it means few tickets will be available for general sale at
the newly transformed stadium. With at least 3,000 seats reserved for away
supporters for Premier League games and another 3,600 seats reserved for
corporate members, around 7,400 would be left for general sale but many of
these may be given away free of charge of part of the club's agreement with
Newham council to provide up to 100,000 tickets to local residents.
Former Arsenal director now West Ham's commercial director, Felicity Barnard
revealed that the season ticket target in an interview at a recent brand
conference which can be seen below.
"We are moving to 35,000, hoping to get to 40,000 (season tickets),
obviously with season tickets gone that allows us to have a much more fluid
match by match experience and they are going very well so we are on track to
make those numbers, absolutely. In hospitality we are doubling from 2,000 to
4,000 and we sold out in all but one lounge, so we are very pleased" Barnard
told the interviewer.

Olympic Stadium transformed to car race track

The Olympic Stadium which has seen Athletics and the Rugby World Cup this
year has been transformed once again into a race track ahead of the Race of
Champions event this weekend.
The Race Of Champions is an annual end-of-season contest which has been held
for over 25 years. It brings together the world's greatest drivers from
motor sport's major disciplines – including Formula 1, World Rally, Le Mans,
MotoGP, Nascar, IndyCar and the X-Games and let's them battle head-to-head
in identical machinery.
In recent years ROC has visited the Stade de France in Paris (2004-2006),
London's Wembley Stadium (2007-2008), the 'Bird's Nest' Olympic Stadium in
Beijing (2009), Düsseldorf's Esprit Arena (2010-2011), the Rajamangala

Payet in Paris at time of attacks

Injured Dimtri Payet has revealed he was in Paris at the time of the
terrorist attacks. The 28-year-old French man has said he is pleased that
the England game against France was allowed to take place at Wembley tonight
and hopes that sport can help bring everyone together. Payet told WHUFC.com:
"It is a very difficult time. I was in Paris over the weekend and I was very
close to everything that happened." "The support that sport can provide in
this case and with many important sporting figures showing their support has
helped for the game to take place.
"I have seen photos of Wembley in red, white and blue which is very special.
Aside from the match itself, it is going to be a very emotional evening." On
Sunday the player posted a message in French on twitter and instagram
saying "All my thoughts to the victims of these heinous crimes. Rest in
peace, and all my support to their families. Pray that men find the reason

Premier League bosses have issued a statement in which they discuss the
present siutation regarding security measures which may surround the weekend
fixtures and and any requirements going forward. ClaretandHugh approached
the PL this morning and was given the following statement which we trust
will come as an assurance to fans. It reads: "We are actively engaged with
our security advisers and the appropriate authorities, including the Home
Office and senior representatives from the Police, to assess current
security guidance to Premier League clubs. There is a club meeting later
this week where a full security briefing will be given. Following that,
further guidance will be issued to the clubs as well as a public statement
so fans are fully aware of what to expect when arriving at stadiums."

ClaretandHugh's historian Nigel Kahn was at the England v France match – an
event that that will long live in the memory of those who crowded into the
stadium following the Paris terror attack. Nige is a "tough old cookie " –
having been brought up on stories of the bombings suffered by the 2nd World
War bombings suffered in the area. And he declared: "It never occurred to me
not to go – you simply go about your business but it was an odd night. "I
was there for the football but I saw many English people who I think were
there for an event and the show of solidarity between the French and our
folk was great. "There were many English kids wearing French shirts and
carrying French flags and I found myself in the 'wrong end' alongside the
visiting fans who at times were chanting for England. They were in great
spirits "There was a real show of force from armed police but it's a tribute
to the security at football staiums that these people have never got in. "Ok
there have been acts of war but what brings it home to you so strongly is
that the people who died were doing what we do – eating, drinking and having
a good time. "It was good to be a part of it and good to see England win."

Zarate agent may be busy!

Mauro Zarate's agent is apparently attempting to organise a transfer back to
Italy for his client say the Italian media. The 28-year-old has made three
starts and scored two Premier League goals for the Hammers so far this
season but he is reportedly keen on moving in order to find increased
playing time. According to GazzettaTV, Zarate's agent has been in
preliminary contact with Hellas, Verona, Genoa and and Torino as he seeks a
club interested in signing his client before the January transfer window.
Zarate previously played in Serie A while on loan at Lazio from Birmingham
City but he struggled after the deal was made permanent for around £14
million in 2009. The Argentine also made 22 appearances, scoring twice,
while on loan with Inter Milan from Lazio. Whether this all just talk in an
attempt to unsettle the player remains to be seen. Zarate has previously
been touted around other clubs while still a West Ham player. On that
occasion the player denied the agent acted on his behalf and denied he was
his adviser.

Lloris 'emotionally drained' ahead of Irons

Spurs goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris has admitted he needs to he needs
to refocus and recover ahead of the Irons visit on Sunday. And the France
goalkeeper declared himself 'emotionally drained'as he prepares to take off
the Hammers. With over 60 per cent of the Spurs squad having been on
international duty the Hammers certainly have the edge in terms of fitness,
preparation and emotional stability. Lloris said: "We have to thank the
English for the reception they gave us, for their support (at Wembley). What
they did for us was very strong, very moving. It was big of them. "The last
three days, with the preparations we've had, had clearly taken something out
of us. But the result wasn't the most important thing about this evening. It
was secondary. "Now we have to go back to our clubs, every one of us,
refocus and recover. There will be better days than this ahead, for all of
us."

TURKISH STRIKER TO ARRIVE IN JANUARY?

The speculation regarding incoming and outgoing January transfer deals has
already began. One report that particularly caught my eye was that linking
West Ham with a move for prolific Galatasaray striker, Burak Yilmaz. Yilmaz
has a very good strike rate in Turkish football, having scored 77 times in
133 appearances for Galatasaray and notched 58 goals in 93 matches for,
former club, Trabzonspor. We know that Slaven Bilic is an admirer of the
player and there were strong rumours that last summer West Ham made an
unsuccessful £3.5m bid for the striker's services. At 30 year's of age,
Yilmaz is probably ready for a last big move to the Premier League and it
has been reported that he is in the final year of his contract with
Galatasaray. So under these circumstances it is possible that the Turkish
club will seek to cash in with a cut-price deal this winter.
However, he is not the only striker that we are being linked with. There
have also been numerous reports suggesting that West Ham are interested in
signing Roma's Ivory Coast international striker, Seydou Doumbia. Doumbia is
currently on loan at CSKA Moscow, who are also reported to be interested in
striking a permanent deal. He has certainly been in good form during his
spell on loan, having scored 8 goals in 15 appearances (in all competitions)
to date. Doumbia only joined Roma last January, but his form in Serie A was
disappointing, only scoring 2 goals in 13 matches. Hence the advent of the
loan deal, but it is strongly rumoured that Roma wish to cut their losses in
January. It has not been reported whether the current loan deal gives CSKA
Moscow first option to sign the player permanently.
Interestingly, we have also been linked once again with Islam Slimani of
Sporting. Readers will recall that West Ham were originally linked to
Slimani in 2014, prior to the World Cup Finals, when it was reported that we
had agreed a deal to sign the striker for £6m. However, we delayed closing
the deal (for whatever reason). And after he starred for Algeria, in that
summer's WC, his valuation subsequently soared. Even these latest reports
quote a fee of approximately £15-18m. As such, I very much doubt that the
club would be in a position to pay that sort of fee (plus wages) in January,
unless there was a significant outgoing deal acting as a catalyst. What does
make sense is recruiting Slimani as cover/competition for Sakho. Indeed,
Slimani's style of centre-forward play is much more akin to that of Sakho,
having the ability to lead the line, work the channels, hold up the ball,
bring others in to play and finish (including strength in the air). The 27
year old has scored a total of 31 goals in 75 appearances for Sporting and
18 goals in 40 matches for Algeria. Could David Sullivan surprise us all by
cashing in on Andy Carroll and using the fee/wages freed to bring in
Slimani?
Another potential deal that could have mileage, is that linking us with a
loan move for 29 year old Japanese international play-maker, Keisuke Honda.
Honda is currently out of favour at AC Milan, having failed to impress in
Serie A, scoring just 9 goals in 56 games. He has also only started on four
occasions in this current campaign and a loan move would definitely benefit
the player as well as his club. Readers may well recall Honda establishing a
major reputation whilst playing for CSKA Moscow, including some impressive
creative displays in the Champions League. If the player can recapture that
sort of form then he would be a valuable addition. Is it not likely that
Bilic would seek to bring in another play-maker to cover for Lanzini and the
rehabilitation and return of Payet? We shall see?
Elsewhere, there have also been rumours aplenty on possible outgoing deals.
Aside from the Collins and O'Brien to Sunderland and 'Liverpool want to
steal Lanzini' conjecture, both Zarate and Ogbonna have been linked with
moves back to Serie A. In Zarate's case, agents have allegedly reported that
the player is unhappy with his playing time at West Ham and they are
consequently exploring options for a January move. Amongst those options are
said to be Torino, Gerona and Hellas Verona. Similarly, a public statement
by former West Ham Director of Football, Gianluca Nani, has sparked
speculation that Ogbonna could return to Italy. In the latter case, it is
thought that Florentina are interested in signing the Italian international
centre-back.
The probability is that business will be minimal in January, with the
acquisition of an extra play-maker on loan the most likely option. However,
there is always the possibility that an outstanding player could suddenly
become available (such as one of Bilic's former charges at Beskitas) and the
club will resultantly transact some major transfer business. We will
probably be actively looking to secure outgoing deals for Collins, O'Brien
and Jarvis to free up some wage money and (if possible) secure a transfer
fee. I do not think the Ogbonna move is likely, but someone like Zarate
could possibly go to facilitate another striker deal. I suppose the big
unknown factor is Andy Carroll and how the club would respond to an
acceptable offer by the likes of Newcastle United or Sunderland? One thing
is certain, potential suitors can forget about getting Carroll on the cheap.
I would imagine it would take at least a bid in the region of £10-12m to
tempt the club. Alternatively, perhaps nothing will happen until the summer
window, if at all?
Finally, it is Spurs up next this Sunday and hopefully we are more than
ready for them. We need Lanzini to effect a smooth, and effective,
transition to the central play-maker role and the other midfielders to step
up to compensate for the considerable loss of Payet. In particular, it may
prove to be a case of what we lose in guile, skill and vision being
compensated for by strength, power and pace! In particular, we definitely
need Kouyate to have a big game and for Song/Obiang and Antonio to play a
role in the match. It is time to prove that we are very far from a 'one man'
team! I am sticking with my call (made last week) of a 1-2 away victory for
the Hammers. COYI!

been boosted after the club revealed they are willing to listen to offers
for the player. The Hammers had a bid rejected for the Turkish international
in the summer and are already lining up a second offer in the January

targets have increased with the news the Turkish outfit are unable to rule
out selling the forward. Hammers boss Slaven Bilic has been linked with

as a bench player. The Japanese international has been frustrated by his
lack of playing time for AC Milan this season and he could be set to make a

WEST HAM SET TO SIGN NEW GOALKEEPER

West Ham are set to sign 17-year-old goalkeeper Pablo Vasquez, who has
recently been on trial at the club. The Spaniard was released by Sevilla
after nagging injury concerns and began playing for his local side in
Nervion. A report from Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo (via Inside
Futbol), says that the Hammers' staff were so impressed by Vasquez during
his trial, they've offered him a contract. However, it looks likely that
Vasquez won't be moving to London immediately and instead he will join up
with his new team-mates for the beginning of the 2015/16 season. Obviously,
Vasquez will come in and join up with the West Ham youth development
programme and won't be competing with Adrian or Darren Randolph for first
team recognition immediately. However, the aim will be to prepare him to
eventually be in a position where he can put pressure on those two and

Michail Antonio has opened up on his patient wait for a West Ham chance that
may arrive after Dimitri Payet's injury. 4 The former Nottingham Forest
winger has had to watch West Ham's impressive start from the sidelines
haivng made just one appearance since his summer switch to the Premier
League. His late introduction in their memorable 2-1 win at Manchester City
is his only Hammers run out to date but with Payet's injury there is a
vacancy in Slaven Bilic's side that Antonio will hope to fill. And ahead of
Sunday's London derby with Tottenham Antonio revealed he always expected a
wait for his chance. "When I joined, I knew it wasn't going to be easy to
break through and stake my claim in the Premier League," he told the club's
official website. "It's one of those things where I need to wait and bide my
time. "I've been part of quite a few derbies. They are always great matches
to be involved with so I can't wait to be involved in the Tottenham v West
Ham derby."
