Tony Gale believes that new arrival Craig Bellamy will be a huge success at
Upton Park. The Welsh striker - signed last week in a £7.5million deal from
Liverpool - impressed on his debut against Czech side Sigma Olomouc on
Tuesday evening, and the former Hammers defender insists that Alan
Curbishley has pulled off a real coup. "I think it's a great signing for the
Club," says Galey. "Craig is the type of player I call a haemorrhoid - a
real pain in the backside!
"He is pacy, aggressive, and doesn't stop working - a nightmare for
defenders. Back when I was playing, I used to hate playing against David
Speedie, and Craig is very similar. "He is permanently at you, hassling and
trying to sniff out a chance, and when he gets in behind he can be very
dangerous. "We've got two strikers in Deano and Bobby who love facing up to
the play with their back to the goal, now we've got that other option of a
pacy forward who is lethal over 10-15 yards. "We've got him at the right
time, too. Craig has got to the stage of his career where he needs to be
playing regular football and perhaps get rid of that reputation that
precedes him. "I think he was frustrated by the lack of opportunities at
Liverpool last season, but there can be no doubting the level of his
ability, and the chance to be the main man at West Ham will hopefully bring
out the best in him. "I also think the fans will love him," adds Galey. "He
plays as though his life depends on it, and that will go down well at Upton
Park. If he can add a few more goals to his game, then he will be a huge
success.

Joorabchian hits out at West Ham - BBC
Carlos Tevez's adviser Kia Joorabchian has criticised West Ham's conduct
over the Argentine's proposed transfer to Manchester United. With the move
of the 23-year-old forward deadlocked, Joorabchian made his critical
comments in a statement. It read: "Over the last six months West Ham have
made repeated promises and assurances, which they have not acted upon or
performed." If United do sign Tevez, he might not join before the transfer
window closes. Joorabchian's statement continued: "It's time for these
inconsistencies to be brought to an end. "We see no alternative but to bring
the true circumstances to the attention of a higher authority to aid a rapid
conclusion to this issue."
United chief executive David Gill has expressed his confidence that Tevez
will eventually become a United player. But he said: "Hopefully the case
will be heard on an expedited basis but we are not sure whether we will have
him signed in time for the new season. "It may take up to two weeks for the
body to be formed, all the paperwork has to be put together and then the
case has to be heard. "Even given that timetable we hope by the time the new
season kicks off, Carlos will be training at Carrington."
With Fifa set to look at the transfer after they were asked by both United
and West Ham to intervene, it is understood the authorities Joorabchian
refers to are both the FA and the world governing body. Tevez was in
Manchester on Tuesday but West Ham refused permission for him to have a
medical at Old Trafford.
A special 'Dispute Resolution Chamber' will be set up by Fifa, possibly
within a fortnight, to effectively determine who currently owns Tevez - West

season. The latest twist in the ongoing tale has seen the Premier League
champions, and West Ham United, ask Fifa's Dispute Resolution Chamber to
arbitrate on the issue. The stumbling block to Tevez's move to Old Trafford
continues to revolve around his registration, with The Hammers holding his
playing registration and Kia Joorabchian his economic rights. United have
expressed their confidence that the matter will end with the Argentine being
part of Sir Alex Ferguson's squad in the coming campaign. And Tevez, who is
heading off on holiday after an Old Trafford medical was blocked, is also
hopeful he will be a Red Devil before the close of the transfer window. "I
am not interested whether Fifa enter into this or not, but I do want a
positive solution to allow me to move to Manchester United in the same way
Javier Mascherano joined Liverpool in January," said Tevez in the Daily
Mirror. "I see this as only a money problem between clubs. I want West Ham
to close the deal so I can play for Manchester United. "I have fulfilled the
orders of my agents (MSI) and after the final of the Copa America I have

Carlos Tevez's representatives have accused West Ham of making misleading
public statements about the player. The Argentine's proposed move to
Manchester United has been held up after a dispute between West Ham,
Manchester United and Tevez's agent Kia Joorabchian. Tevez arrived in
Manchester on Tuesday to undergo a medical, but West Ham refused permission
for the medical to go ahead and the player has now gone away on holiday with
his future still up in the air. The wrangle over his ownership rights
continues with West Ham claiming they own Tevez, while Joorabchian's Media
Sports Investment group say they own the economic rights of the player.
Manchester United have asked Fifa to intervene to try and resolve the
dispute, while West Ham have also referred the matter to football's world
governing body. Joorabchian has now also revealed he plans to take the
affair to Fifa and the Football Association to try and sort out the wrangle
and he has accused West Ham of lying over what they are saying about Tevez.
In a statement released by the businessman's lawyers, Joorabchian said:
"Press statements both today and over last few weeks are wholly inconsistent
with the real circumstances and the situation presented to us by West Ham
concerning Carlos Tevez. "We as a company have patiently kept away from the
issues including West Ham in order to give the club the opportunity to
resolve the matter in a legal and agreeable way acceptable to all parties.
"West Ham have consistently provided private assurances while at the same
time making contrary statements to the public at large. "We can no longer
allow these inconsistencies to continue unaddressed.
"During his time at West Ham Carlos Tevez performed at a high standard. He
was voted Hammer of the Year by the club's fans. "There was a period at the
end of last year when Carlos had the opportunity to leave the club and yet
he decided to stay to successfully help West Ham survive in the Premier
League.
"We wish to make clear that at all times it has been our intention to find
an amicable solution and Carlos Tevez has, at no time, acted improperly in
relation to his move to Manchester United Football Club as he was given
permission via his representatives to talk to other clubs to reach an
amicable agreement.

New signing Julien Faubert has provided West Ham United with an injury
scare. The France international picked up an injury during the club's 1-0
friendly defeat to Sigma Olomouc on Tuesday. Faubert was substituted after
35 minutes of the game in Austria after suffering an Achilles problem. The
winger will undergo tests on the injury on Wednesday to ascertain the full
extent of the damage. There are fears that the knock will be serious enough
to force Faubert out of the start of the new Premier League season. If the
injury does prove to be serious, it will be a second blow for Faubert, whose
move to Upton Park has been criticised by France national team coach Raymond
Domenech.

Manchester United are going to Fifa in an attempt to secure the signing of
Carlos Tevez from West Ham United. The Argentina international is currently
in Manchester as he waits to undergo a medical with the Premier League
champions. West Ham have prevented the tests taking place after talks
between the two clubs failed to bring about a resolution to the impasse. The
Hammers insist no offer has been made for Tevez, although The Red Devils
have expressed their optimism that a deal can be arranged. The problem
centres on the striker's contractual situation, with West Ham seemingly
holding his playing registration and his agent Kia Joorabchian holding the
economic rights. Only last week, Fifa confirmed it would be prepared to
intervene in the matter, if asked to by any of the parties involved. The Red
Devils have now taken the issue in to their own hands and have called on
world football's governing body to wade into the complex affair. Chief
executive David Gill has confirmed the club have requested that Fifa's
Disputes Resolution Chamber arbitrate on the case.

David Gill remains confident Manchester United can complete the signing of

Premier League champions failed to reach a deal with West Ham United on
Tuesday. It could take several weeks for the issue to be resolved by Fifa,
raising the possibility of the window shutting before the transfer is
finalised. But United chief executive Gill is upbeat about the prospect of
Tevez being in Sir Alex Ferguson's plans for the new season. "We're very
confident, as is the player, that the situation will be resolved in favour
of Tevez," Gill told reporters. "He will then be free to achieve his, and
our, wish to join United. "Hopefully the case will be heard on an expedited

FIFA have been asked to intervene in the transfer row surrounding Carlos
Tevez's proposed move to Manchester United. Reds chief executive David Gill,
speaking at a press conference in Seoul where the league champions are
currently on tour, told reporters: "There have been a lot of discussion
with the Premier League, West Ham [United] and Maurice Watkins over the last
few days. "The player and West Ham will take the case to the FIFA Dispute
Resolution Chamber. We're very confident, as is the player, that the
situation will be resolved in favour of Tevez. He will then be free to
achieve his, and our, wish to join [Manchester] United. "Based on what we've
seen, and the discussions we've had over the last few weeks, we're very
confident this will be resolved and that he will be a major of Sir Alex's
squad this season."
FIFA stated recently that they were powerless to intervene in domestic
transfers. However given the intense media interest in the Tevez saga it may
decide to relax that ruling on this occasion.

Yossi Benayoun has tipped the Hammers to break into the European spots this
year, a week after signing for Liverpool. The Israeli midfielder, speaking
from Liverpool's training camp in Switzerland last night said that he
believes Alan Curbishley's side are ready to push on - despite the horrors
of last season. And he attributed the problems of last season to the many
'behind the scenes' changes which occured during the last 12 months at Upton
Park. "Ssometimes teams change, sometimes managers change and sometimes the
owners change. But everything in one season was too much," he said. "When we
got to the FA Cup final in 2006 we thought we would be a better team the
next season. But suddenly we started falling and couldn't stop. We were
lucky to prove our ability at the end of the season. "To win seven from
nine showed how strong the squad was."
Benayoun spent two years with the Hammers before making a £4.5m switch to
Anfield last week.

Julien Faubert could miss the start of the season as West Ham United's
summer injury jinx struck yet again. Faubert - making only his second start
for the Hammers in Austria against Sigma last night - is understood to have
sustained an injury to his achilles ten minutes before the break in last
night's 1-0 defeat.
The 23-year-old is set to undertake a scan tomorrow in order to determine
the extent of the injury. The Achilles tendon is the largest tendon in the
human body, and is a common injury amongst sports men and women. The worst
case scenario - a complete rupture - could see the French winger out for
three to four months. * Dean Ashton missed the whole of last season after
suffering pre-season injury whilst training with England.

It is understood those authorities are both the FA and FIFA. FIFA have been
called in to end the deadlock surrounding Tevez's move to Old Trafford. Both
West Ham and Manchester United believe only FIFA can break the impasse over
the player's ownership, which has held up the proposed £30million-plus
transfer.
Joorabchian, and his company MSI, claims to own Tevez's economic rights,
while West Ham insist the striker is contracted and registered with them.
The Premier League have demanded West Ham must receive the bulk of the
transfer fee if they are to sanction the move. The league have now been
asked to send the case to FIFA - a move welcomed by Joorabchian, who is
ready to show documentary evidence he claims proves West Ham gave permission
for the deal to go ahead. FIFA will be asked for their dispute resolution
panel or players' status committee to step in and decide whether Tevez is
fully bound by his existing contract with West Ham or not. Joorabchian's
decision to adopt an aggressive stance over the issue is understood to have
been prompted, in part at least, by reports which emanated from West Ham
yesterday that the club had refused permission for Tevez to undergo a
medical at Manchester United.
He was also anxious to ensure Tevez does not get painted as the villain of
the piece by confirming the striker turned down moves away from Upton Park
in January. It is understood two leading European clubs were interested. One
of those is believed to have been Juventus.

Manchester United have written off the prospects of Carlos Tevez completing
his controversial move to Old Trafford in time for next month's Community
Shield meeting against Chelsea. The Premiership champions also fear that the
Argentine's future could remain unresolved when the Premiership kicks off on
Aug 11 following the decision of the player and his club, West Ham, to go to
Fifa in an effort to clarify once and for all the clouded issue of his
ownership. Plans by United to wrap up a deal worth £30 million for the
23-year-old forward early next week have now been ripped up and a proposed
medical examination due to take place in Manchester today has been shelved
because of West Ham's refusal to grant permission. While United remain
confident that Tevez will be their player before the transfer window closes
on Aug 31, the possibility of a protracted hearing at Fifa's disputes
resolution chamber (DRC) has placed a growing question mark over just when a
deal could be finalised. The chamber do not meet again until August 9 - two
days before the start of the season. A West Ham spokesman said: "It now
makes sense for this to be dealt with by Fifa. All parties agree this is the
best way forward and, of course, we'll be involved in helping this to be
resolved as quickly as possible."
United chief executive David Gill, in Seoul, said: "I'm not certain on the
timescale of all this, but I have spoken to our club solicitor, Maurice
Watkins, and he tells us it can take two weeks to arrange for the body to
form and papers on the case to be pulled together."
Tevez will claim that he signed a one-year contract at West Ham with an
option of a further year that has not been taken up by the London club,
theoretically leaving him free to move on. But West Ham are understood to be
ready to counter that argument by insisting they have a four-year contract
with the player.
If Fifa find in Tevez's favour, United will be free to negotiate the terms
of the transfer with Media Sports Investments, the company who own his
economic rights. However, a finding supporting West Ham's case would leave
United to strike a deal with them, and not MSI, to buy out the remainder of
Tevez's contract.
Gill added: "We are very confident the issue will be resolved in favour of
the player and for him to achieve his and our wish to join Manchester
United. Based on what we've seen and the discussions we've had, we're very
confident it will go in Carlos' favour and that he will be part of Sir Alex
Ferguson's squad next season. "Carlos has not undergone a medical and he
will probably now take a well-earned break with his family because the plan,
had he signed for us by now, had always been for him join up with the squad
after we had returned from our tour of Asia. But we remain confident that,
by the time the season starts, Carlos will be training with us at
Carrington."
The chances of the matter being referred to the Court of Arbitration for
Sport (CAS) are high, according to Mick McGuire, deputy chief executive for
the Professional Footballers' Association and an English board member of
Fifpro, who represent players in disputes that go to the DRC. He said: "It
could drag on. But Fifa make the regulations on transfer windows and know
the time frames - you would hope they take that into account. You can take
it to the next stage, to CAS, and that would be the final appeal stage."
Whether a case is suitable for the DRC or a player status committee depends
on the dispute, whether it is club-to-club or player-to-club. McGuire added:
"It's a matter of which avenue is most appropriate. It could be seen as a
dispute between Manchester United and West Ham, or between Tevez and West

Probably not. Fifa's dispute resolution chamber could attempt to determine
who hold the rights but they might only be able to advise. If no agreement
can be found, the affair could be referred to the Court of Arbitration for

5) What is the likely outcome?
Hard to say. West Ham will hold out for a large transfer fee, even if Tevez
signs on loan, while Manchester United and Joorabchian maintain that they
are doing the deal. Tevez is unlikely to sign before the season begins on
Aug 11 and if he fails to move before Aug 31, he would return to West Ham.
6) Could this affect Sheffield United?
No. The Blades maintain they are the injured party and, after failing last
Friday to force new Premier League disciplinary action against West Ham, are
still considering whether to take further action. Sheffield United will
watch with interest, but the best they can expect is compensation. It is
highly unlikely they will be reinstated to the Premiership.

West Ham have been accused of double standards over the handling of Carlos
Tevez. In an angry statement released late last night on behalf of Tevez's
owner Kia Joorabchian, West Ham were accused of failing to act upon
'repeated promises and assurances'. Sportsmail understands there is
explosive documentation held by Joorabchian that, until yesterday, was
likely to remain out of the public domain. Now, with his patience wearing
thin, he says he will bring "the true circumstances" to the attention of
FIFA and the FA. In a statement released by his lawyer Graham Shear,
Joorabchian said: "We as a company have patiently kept away from the issues

WEST HAM were last night accused of making misleading statements over the
Carlos Tevez affair. Kia Joorabchian, who is trying to negotiate the Argie's
move to Manchester United, claimed the Hammers have failed to act upon
"repeated promises and assurances" over the striker's future. And he
insisted he will bring "the true circumstances" to the attention of FIFA and
the FA. In a report released by his lawyers, Joorabchian said: "Statements
are wholly inconsistent with the real circumstances and the situation
presented to us by West Ham concerning Carlos Tevez. "West Ham have
consistently provided private assurances while at the same time making
contrary statements to the public. "We can no longer allow these
inconsistencies to continue unaddressed.
"Over the last six months West Ham have made repeated promises and
assurances which they have not acted upon or performed. "It is now time for

Both clubs have called for FIFA to try to end the stalemate. They believe
only the game's top brass can break the stalemate over the 23-year-old's
ownership, which has held up the planned £30million-plus transfer.
Joorabchian, and his company MSI, claims to own Tevez's economic rights,
while West Ham insist the striker is contracted and registered with them.
Earlier a West Ham spokesman, referring to FIFA stepping in, said: "All
parties agree this is the best way forward and we will be involved in
helping this be resolved as quickly as possible." Tevez jetted into
Manchester on Tuesday for a proposed medical yesterday — but the Hammers
blocked it, claiming they had not given permission. Old Trafford chief
executive David Gill insisted: "It might take up to two weeks for the FIFA
body to be formed to hear the case. I am still confident that Carlos will

squad players? You don't know football then. Think that West Ham are being
pricks over Tevez or that they have no legal rights over the player? You're
a West Ham hater! Yes. You. You're a West Ham hater for thinking that a club
that signs a potentially damaging contract and then lies to the Premier
League AND is punished in April, not in January when the issue was
discovered, was leniently treated.
You're a West Ham hater for thinking that they won't make the top 6 or top 8
next season (Having Craig Bellamy in your team does NOT guarantee you
European football, mind you - it just guarantees that there will be
fighting). You're a West Ham hater for thinking that - because all West Hams
DO have law degrees, are intimately familiar with the legal issues at stake
and furthermore are not biased, AT ALL. Quite frankly, this whole "the world
is against us" bullshit is a childish excuse to deal with the real issues.
I'm up for debate and I'll discuss anything, anywhere, with anyone. But if
your best defense is that because I disagree with you I'm influenced by
third-rate media (who I thoroughly despise, mind you) or that I support a
big club so I'm arrogant, then yes, you're going to get the same tripe that

launched a stinging attack on the Hammers. Accusing the Upton Park outfit of
being two-faced, the Iranian-born businessman said: "West Ham have
consistently provided private assurances while at the same time making
contrary statements to the public at large." Things came to a head yesterday
after talks between United, West Ham, Joorabchian and the Premier League
failed to settle the issue. Now FIFA will have the final say on one of the
most controversial transfers in recent history. But Joorabchian turned the

Tevez is desperate to join United and he and Joorabchian are contesting West
Ham's claim that they have the striker tied to a four-year deal. The
Argentina star insists he only joined them on a one-year contract, with an
option to extend, which he claims was never taken up.Positive Tevez said: "I
want a positive solution to allow me to move to Manchester United in the
same way Javier Mascherano joined Liverpool in January. "I am very grateful
to West Ham. The club and the fans are sensational but when it comes to
football, I believe a good transfer will be good for them. "I would like the
deal completed so I can go on holiday full of peace and calm. But I am
convinced I will play for Manchester United next season."
If FIFA decide in Tevez's favour, United will be free to negotiate a deal
with Joorabchian to sign the 23-year-old. Any transfer would be scrutinised
by the Premier League. But if FIFA find in favour of West Ham and decide
that Tevez is under contract, United would then have to begin the process of
negotiating a transfer free with the Hammers in order to sign him. United
chief executive David Gill, speaking on the club's pre-season tour of the
Far East, said he remained confident FIFA will find in Tevez's favour and

Manchester United's players were mobbed on arrival in South Korea yesterday,
but, increasingly, their pre-season tour to Asia is being dominated by the
man who isn't there. The proposed signing of Carlos Tévez from West Ham
United is on hold because of numerous legal complications, with the English
champions told yesterday that a resolution may not be reached until the
final days of the August transfer window – or possibly even beyond.
After talks between the clubs on Tuesday ended without an agreement on the
transfer, it emerged yesterday that the clubs requested that the matter be
passed on to Fifa's dispute resolution chamber for mediation, with Tévez and
his "owner", Kia Joorabchian, eager to secure a move to Old Trafford.
David Gill, the United chief executive, said in Seoul yesterday that he was
"very confident this will be resolved in favour of the player and he will be
free to achieve his wish", but the transfer seems highly unlikely to proceed
within the time frame that Sir Alex Ferguson, the manager, had envisaged.
Fifa, the game's world governing body, said yesterday that "if a complaint
is submitted, our legal department will take a look at it and see whether we
are the competent authority to deal with the matter", with Gill forecasting
that even that process may take a fortnight.
Gill suggested that Tévez may be free to train with United before the
Barclays Premier League season begins on August 11, but there are growing
concerns that the issue could take substantially longer because of the
complications surrounding the relationship between the Argentina forward,
Joorabchian and West Ham.
Tévez, Joorabchian and, by extension, United believe that the player is free
to leave West Ham because of a get-out clause in the contract that he signed
on arrival last August from Corinthians, the Brazilian club. West Ham, on
the other hand, claim that he signed a four-year contract.
United's hope is that the player's registration with West Ham will
effectively be cancelled, as happened with Javier Mascherano, his fellow
Argentine import, when he joined Liverpool in January. But one difference is
that the East London club were willing to offload Mascherano, whereas they
may be prepared to go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne in
the dispute over Tévez.
"Hopefully, the case will be heard on an expedited basis, but we are not
sure whether we will have him signed in time for the [start of the] new
season," Gill said. "But based on the discussions we've had over the last
few weeks, we're confident this will be resolved and that Tévez will be a
major part of Sir Alex's squad this season."
Even without Tévez, Ferguson and his players received a rapturous welcome at
Seoul's Incheon airport yesterday before a match against FC Seoul tomorrow.
Park Ji Sung, South Korea's most celebrated player, is not fit to
participate in the tour – and could be out until the new year with cruciate
ligament damage, suffered in March – but his presence among the travelling
party has without question brought an extra dimension to United's appeal in
a country where football is suddenly rivalling baseball in the popularity
stakes.
It is another stamp in the passport for the rest of United's globe-trotters
and, while Ferguson, at 65, has seen it all before, he professes to be
energised and ready for his 34th season as a manager. "I will never set a
date to retire," he said. "I tried that some years ago and made a mistake.
When you get to my age, you have to consider your health. That's something
you can't control, but I feel good."
So, too, does Edwin van der Sar, the oldest of United's players. The
goal-keeper admitted being "disappointed" with his form at the end of last
season and was also embarrassed during the 2-2 draw with Urawa Red Diamonds
in Saitama on Tuesday, when he was wrong-footed by a swerving shot from
Hideki Uchidata, but he dismissed suggestions that age was catching up with
him at 36, even if it is not yet clear whether he will continue playing when
his contract expires next summer.

Fifa. Both clubs have agreed that mediation by football's world governing

negotiations which have held up the Argentinean forward's move to Old
Trafford. Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said last week that he
expected the transfer to be completed "in a matter of days" after various
administrative hold-ups were settled – a view echoed by the owner of Media

Joorabchian continues to claim ownership of the striker, despite the
Hammers' claims that they have "torn up" the agreement with the businessman
that allows him to retain ownership of the player's rights. And because of
what Old Trafford chief executive David Gill has called the
"overcomplicated" nature of the deal, Fifa have now been asked to step in.
"There have been a lot of discussions with the Premier League, West Ham and
[Manchester United's lawyer] Maurice Watkins over the last few days," Gill
said at a press conference in Seoul today. "Now the player and West Ham will
take the case to the Fifa dispute resolution chamber. We're very confident,
as is the player, that the situation will be resolved in favour of Tevez so
that he will then be free to achieve his, and our, wish to join United."
West Ham today blocked the Red Devils' attempts to perform a medical on
Tevez in preparation for a move, saying the player was still under contract
to them and that no deal between the clubs has been agreed. But Old Trafford
bosses claim to have concluded negotiations with Tevez's representatives at
MSI over personal terms for the move to go ahead. A decision is expected
soon, according to Gill, who added he was "very confident" of having the
matter resolved before the season curtain-raiser – the Community Shield – at
Wembley Stadium on August 5th.

Man United's troubled signing of Carlos Tevez seems to be heading for even
more instability; now AC Milan want him! (Gazzetta dello Sport) Apparently
the Argentine ace is already set for a medical in Manchester (could already
be happening), but with West Ham seemingly not too keen on the fact that a
player they own is somehow being sold without their agreement.
Now Champions League winners Milan are butting their noses in. This could
and will probably run and run and any decision is bound to upset one party
or another, be it the Hammers, Kia Joorabchian or Man United. Personally I
hope that at the end of this whole saga and that Kia crawls back under the
stone from whence he came. He is symptomatic of all that is bad with the
game, he and his ilk, be they agents or representatives, are sucking the
game dry with their 10% cuts and phoney transfer dealings and the sooner
they are booted out of the game, the better. Tevez to know which shirt to
wear by the end of August - NAY.
