High praise for 'dedicated' Green - WHUFC
Alan Curbishley has told Robert Green his chance with England will come
again
21.11.2007

Alan Curbishley has paid tribute to Robert Green and said he just has to
"keep doing what he does" to earn international recognition.

The West Ham United No1 has been among the top-flight's leading goalkeepers
this season but has yet to add to the one England cap he earned back in
2005. Paul Robinson, Scott Carson and David James are all ahead of him in
the current pecking order - meaning Green was not involved in England's 3-2
home defeat by Croatia on Wednesday that confirmed their absence from EURO
2008.

In an interview featured on WHUTV, Curbishley said the 27-year-old just had
to bide his time. "He is not far off that England squad," he said. "I think
everybody knows that. He has got to just keep doing what he does. He can't
do any more." At club level, Green has been instrumental in the run of five
matches unbeaten, memorably saving a last-gasp penalty to earn a 0-0 draw at
Portsmouth and producing heroics in the 3-1 home win against Sunderland

Despite regularly stealing the spotlight with his matchday contributions,
Curbishley said Green, who moved to east London from Norwich City in January
2006, was not one for personal glory. "He is a big character in terms of
size and stature," the manager said. "But he is quiet, he gets on with it
and I have never seen someone work as hard in training. He is totally
dedicated to becoming the best he can be."

Curbishley added that Green was a major factor in the survival fight last
season, acknowledging that, upon taking charge in December, he had first to
give him and his then rival Roy Carroll a chance to impress. "After about
four or five games I bought Rob back and he has been there ever since. His
performances not just in that run-in but since he came back into the side
and this season have been superb." Green will get the chance to underline
his credentials again this Sunday, when Tottenham Hotspur - featuring
Robinson in goal - come to the Boleyn Ground.

Ljungberg helps Sweden to finals - WHUFC
Sweden will be captained at EURO 2008 by Freddie Ljungberg
21.11.2007

Freddie Ljungberg is to captain Sweden to the finals of EURO 2008 after the
Scandinavian nation secured their spot on Wednesday night.

Ljungberg had a key role in a 2-1 home victory against Latvia, making the
decisive goal for Kim Kallstrom to score the winner just before the hour
mark. Sweden's progress came at the expense of George McCartney's Northern
Ireland, although their 1-0 defeat in Spain dashed any hopes they had.
England will also not be at the finals after a 3-2 defeat by Croatia at
Wembley confirmed their elimination.

While Sweden will rightly celebrate, Ljungberg will quickly switch his focus
to playing his part for West Ham United against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
He will hope that two full international matches in four days - he also
figured in the 3-0 defeat in Spain on Saturday - will have added to the
fitness gained at Chadwell Heath in recent weeks.

"I am looking forward to coming back, after the international games, to West
Ham," Ljungberg said. "Our next game is a local derby against Spurs and
important to both clubs in a number of ways." Meanwhile, James Collins and
Danny Gabbidon both played their part in a creditable 0-0 draw for
already-eliminated Wales against Germany in Frankfurt.

Elsewhere, it was a disappointing evening for striker Henri Camara's Senegal
after they went down 3-0 to Morocco in a friendly while right-back John
Pantsil was on the bench as hosts Ghana won a four-team tournament with a
4-2 defeat of Benin.

Curbs cheered by fit-again duo - WHUFC
Alan Curbishley has positive news on the progress of Scott Parker and Dean
Ashton
21.11.2007

Alan Curbishley has revealed that Scott Parker and Dean Ashton are
continuing to make great progress.

The pair each scored in a training ground practice match against Southampton
reserves on Wednesday, with young midfielder Tony Stokes hitting a hat-trick
in a 5-0 victory that also featured Richard Wright and Nigel Quashie.
Curbishley, who is preparing for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday,
said: "We are really pleased. It looks like one or two of them are coming
back.

"Deano has got back a little bit quicker than we thought but he has come
back strong enough to play a full 90 minutes. He scored and got through it
OK and Scott Parker, who has worked so hard that he is now on the right
track, is looking strong again and he played the whole 90 minutes and
scored.

"We know how much work they have put into it. I am hopeful that one more
game next week will be enough for them to really be considered but by this
weekend one of them might be involved or even both of them." Striker Ashton
has not played since picking up a knee strain in the 1-0 defeat at Aston
Villa, although the club has since embarked on a five-match unbeaten run,
while midfielder Parker has not figured because of his own knee problem
suffered on 29 September.

To add to the positive news, Curbishley added that midfielders Hayden
Mullins and Mark Noble were both getting closer. "Hayden came off against
Bolton [on 4 November] with a bruised foot and never made the Derby game [on
10 November] but he is back in full training and Mark, who had a hernia
operation on the Friday before we played Derby, was back in and running a
week after. He has managed to get the last two days in."

The manager was also keen to remind of the achievement of those who had done
the job in recent weeks, emphasising the contribution of players like
Jonathan Spector and Carlton Cole, along with the general resilience in the
camp. He added: "Players have played out of position and also we have had to
change during games. I am delighted with what the players have done -
absolutely delighted. For me the players deserve a lot of credit for the
points total we have taken and to get to the quarter-final of a cup. The
squad has stood firm."

Duo return - KUMB
Filed: Wednesday, 21st November 2007
By: Matthew O'Greel

Scott Parker and Dean Ashton are both in contention for this weekend's clash
with Tottenham. The duo played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against
Southampton this afternoon - won 5-0 by the Hammers - and emerged unscathed.
Also playing in the game was Nigel Quashie, who has been out of action since
March. West Ham face Tottenham at the Boleyn Ground this Sunday, with Alan
Curbishley's side seeking to break into the top eight of the Premier League.
Tottenham are currently four points behind United in 14th place, just three
points ahead of the drop-zone.

Williams eyes Ephraim capture - SSN
Colchester boss keen on Hammers youngster
By Lewis Rutledge Last updated: 21st November 2007

Colchester boss Geraint Williams has admitted he is considering a move for
Hogan Ephraim in the January transfer window. Ephraim spent last season on
loan at Layer Road but is now back at West Ham. He is out of contract in the
summer and has been linked with a £500,000 switch to Colchester. "Hogan was
with us last year and he is a player we liked a lot," said Williams. "We're
always looking to improve the squad and Hogan is a player who could do that.
He's certainly one we are looking at." Colchester defender John White is
focused on breaking back into the team but admits he may have to leave if
opportunities do not arise. The 21-year-old has made just three appearances
this season due to the emergence of George Elokobi. "I haven't been in this
situation much before and I'm learning as I go along," he told the
Colchester Gazette. I just want to play football and if it's not happening
here then eventually I would have to think about moving on. My main aim is
to carry on playing for Colchester and if I can't get there then maybe it
will time to move on. But for now, I'm working to get back into that first
team."

Curbishley - Green is close - SSN
Hammers boss believes stopper is close to England recall
By James Dall Last updated: 21st November 2007

West Ham United boss Alan Curbishley does not believe Robert Green is far
off earning himself a recall to the England side. Green has earned just a
single cap for his country - back in 2005 against Colombia - despite
demonstrating some impressive form at club level. Furthermore, questions
have been asked of Paul Robinson's recent shaky displays, with many calling
for Green to be used by boss Steve McClaren. But McClaren chose to overlook
the 27-year-old for England's recent set of qualifiers, opting to go with
Robinson, Scott Carson and David James as his trio of shot-stoppers.
Curbishley, though, is confident the former Norwich City keeper is close to
securing a recall. "He is not far off that England squad. I think everybody
knows that. He has got to just keep doing what he does. He can't do any
more," he told the club's official website. The Hammers manager also praised
Green's character, while hailing his impressive recent form. "He is a big
character in terms of size and stature. But he is quiet, he gets on with it
and I have never seen someone work as hard in training. He is totally
dedicated to becoming the best he can be," Curbishley added. "His
performances since he came back into the side this season have been superb."

Graham Paddon Remembered - West Ham Online
Billy Blagg - Wed Nov 21 2007

Norwich City players will be wearing black armbands and dedicating a
minute's silence in their next home game to commemorate the life of Graham
Paddon, who passed away suddenly at the criminally low age of 57 on November
19th. Paddon played 340 games, scoring 37 goals for the Canaries in two
periods with the club.

However, its not just East Anglians who will be mourning this week. In 1975
and 1976, Graham Paddon was a lynchpin of the Hammers side that won the FA
Cup before progressing to the final of the Cup Winner's Cup at the Heysel
Stadium, Brussels. In fact, Paddon's contribution to the final in Belgium
was crucial as he struck a stunning goal in Frankfurt in the semi-final to
give West Ham a crucial away advantage that they were able to build on back
at Upton Park, eventually sending out the much-fancied German side 4-3 on
aggregate to progress to the final.

In the 1975 FA Cup final at Wembley, against Bobby Moore's Fulham side, it
was Paddon's rasping shot that Peter Mellor fumbled to allow Alan Taylor to
score one of his brace that day.

Paddon's contribution to the cup-winning side side was probably more than
the sum of its parts; the fact of the matter was a midfield with Paddon,
Bonds and Brooking (supplemented by the underrated Pat Holland) was
beautifully balanced on all sides of the pitch. Paddon's lethal left foot
being responsible for setting up or scoring many fine goals. In fact,
Paddon's arrival from Norwich - in a swap deal that rid us of the useless
Ted McDougall - had helped save West Ham from relegation in the 1973 / 74
season so his dedication to the cause of his adopted club probably goes even
beyond his celebrated cup exploits.

But any eulogy to Graham Paddon cannot go without mention of the cultured
midfielder's addition to the buccaneering spirit of any 1970's side. Flowing
locks and a fearsome beard with socks rolled down - no shinpads - cemented
Paddon's status as a tireless worker and committed club man.

At a time when left-footed players are rare - let alone ones of Graham
Paddon's calibre - this is a sad lost to the history of the game. Also, when
'heroes' are made and broken on the back of one or two good or bad games it
serves us well to remember a player who was an invaluable member of a side
that really won something.

The thoughts of West Ham fans will be with Graham's family this week and, if
it is any consolation, may of us will be wiping a tear away at the memory of
a stunning 30 yard shot - still one of my favourite ever goals - in
Frankfurt in 1976.

RIP Graham.

Saints Reserves took a Hammering as they went down 5-0 in today's closed

Stewart Henderson was not totally unhappy with the display though as his
young side played well between the two penalty areas.

However the much more experienced Hammers were stronger in both boxes as
they defended well and had a greater cutting edge in attack.
The home side included four full internationals in Richard Wright, Dean
Ashton, Scott Parker and former Saints midfielder Nigel Quashie.

Adam Lallana hit a post for Saints in the opening minute before Ashton
scored the opener with a towering header.
Henderson said: "We fixed up this game hoping Darren Powell and Alex Ostlund
might be fit and get a run-out - but it was not to be.

"We lacked a bit of experience and they had plenty of it - but it was still
a very useful exercise for our young lads.
"We probably had 65 per cent of possession and knocked the ball around very
nicely at times in midfield.

"But they had more threat than we did in front of goal and took their
chances well against a young defence.
"I was very pleased with the way we passed the ball but we gave some soft
goals away and lacked a sense of danger. But it was a very good work-out."

Saints Res: Poke, Hatch, James, Gillett, Lancashire, Davies, Thomson,

Injury list easing for Spurs meeting - Newham Recorder
21 November 2007

AFTER four months of unmitigated disaster with injuries at Upton Park, there
finally seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel.

Not for the likes of Julien Faubert and Kieron Dyer of course. They will be
spending Christmas with their feet up and beginning their comeback plans in
the new year.

But for the rest of the squad, fitness beckons, and that means one or two
selection headaches for manager Alan Curbishley going into Sunday's showdown
with near neighbours Spurs at Upton Park.

Striker Dean Ashton is set for a return on Sunday. So is Swedish
international winger Freddie Ljungberg as well as midfielders Hayden Mullins
and Mark Noble.

Scott Parker, who has played just 45 minutes of Premier League football for
the Hammers, is back in training after his frustrating knee injury problems,
while striker Bobby Zamora, who has missed the last 11 games since injuring
his knee at Bristol Rovers in the Carling Cup, is also looking for a return
in the next two or three weeks.

Former Arsenal star Ljungberg is desperate to return to action, not least
because Sunday's game is against Spurs.

He has the small matter of helping Sweden to get the point they need against
Latvia tonight (Wednesday) to qualify for Euro 2008 at the expense of George
McCartney's Northern Ireland, but then he is looking towards the weekend.

"I am happy to be back to full strength. I feel strong and have had lots of
time to recover," he said. The last week at West Ham felt good and I have
had great support from our rehab staff.

"I am looking forward to coming back, especially with the next game being a
local derby against Tottenham, which is very important to both teams."

With Lee Bowyer suspended, Curbishley must decide between Ljungberg and
Nolberto Solano for the right winger's spot.

The Peruvian has been in South America on World Cup duty, playing in their
excellent 1-1 draw with Brazil in Lima, and it will depend on how quickly he
recovers from the flight, as to whether Curbishley gives him a starting
berth.

McCartney was expected to begin training today (Wednesday) as he prepares
for Sunday's game. The manager is keen to have the Northern Irishman back
and fit, as he has so little cover in the left back position.

Another player vying for a spot against Spurs is defender James Collins, who
revealed his frustration at the lack of chances he has had for the Hammers
this term.

After playing alongside Danny Gabbidon in Wales' 2-2 draw with the Republic
of Ireland on Saturday, he said: "This season has been a nightmare for me.

"At the end of last season I was playing the best football of my career and
now I have kept getting niggly injuries that have kept me out for weeks at a
time."

Collins seems to have slipped behind Gabbidon in the pecking order at Upton
Park, but with Anton Ferdinand currently otherwise engaged, as well as
having a hamstring injury, he is still an important member of the squad.

Curbishley must decide whether to stick with the bulk of the players who did
so superbly at Derby County two weeks ago, or restore his more experienced
players to the starting line-up.

The answer he is likely to come up with, will be a mixture of the two.

Ashton should start in place of the unlucky Luis Boa Morte, while Mullins
should also return, but it might be too soon for Noble and that may mean a
call-up for Parker or a move for Solano into central midfield, with
Ljungberg out on on the right.

We shall see.

Make or break for internationals - WHUFC
The conclusion of EURO 2008 qualifying takes place tonight across Europe
21.11.2007

Freddie Ljungberg and George McCartney will find out tonight which one of
them will have a chance of playing at next summer's EURO 2008 finals.

Ljungberg will make it to Switzerland and Austria if Sweden, under his
captaincy, get a point at home to Latvia in Solna. Should the Scandinavian
nation lose, then McCartney's Northern Ireland can make it with victory away
to already-qualified Spain - although the left-back will be absent as he
continues his recovery from an ankle injury.

Elsewhere tonight, there will be no West Ham United representation as
England take on Croatia at Wembley needing a point to progress. However,
both Robert Green and Dean Ashton will be hoping for a positive result as
they look to play their way back into international contention over the
coming months. Defensive duo James Collins and Danny Gabbidon are with Wales
who, despite elimination already, will be looking to sign off in style in
Germany.

Further afield, John Pantsil's Ghana continue their preparations for hosting
January's African Cup of Nations with the final of a four-team tournament
against Benin. Henri Camara, who scored at the weekend in a 3-2 defeat of
Mali, is with Senegal for their friendly against Morocco. In South America,
Nolberto Solano will miss Peru's 2010 World Cup qualifier in Ecuador because
of suspension.

Collison a winner with Wales - WHUFC
Jack Collison was again involved in a victory for Wales Under-21s on Tuesday
night
20.11.2007

Reserve-team captain Jack Collison was back in action for Wales Under-21s as
they achieved a dramatic 4-2 success against France in Cardiff.

Despite Les Bluets' perennial strength at this level - they have reached the
semi-finals four times in the last eight editions of the U21 European
Championship - they were undone by a thrilling fightback from Brian Flynn's
side. Wales went into the qualifier for the 2009 finals in Sweden on the
back of Saturday's 4-0 win against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Wrexham, when
Collison crowned his debut with a superb solo strike that saw him surge past
three midfielders, play a one-two and then round the visiting goalkeeper to
score.

With Collison again energetic in midfield on Tuesday, Wales took the lead
just before half-time through Manchester City's Ched Evans after a mistake
by captain Younes Kaboul, the Tottenham Hotspur centre-half. However, France
fought back and scored in the 73rd and 77th minutes through a penalty from
AC Milan prodigy Yoann Gourcuff and a fine second from Dimitri Payet.

Yet Wales refused to give in and Evans drew the home side level from the
penalty spot before taking the lead almost immediately afterwards when
substitute Mark Bradley struck from close range. Evans then completed his
hat-trick in added time with his second penalty of the night. The victory
leaves Wales two points behind qualifying Group 10 leaders Romania and
France, with one and two games in hand respectively.

Wales, who are bidding to reach the finals of this competition for the first
time although would still have to overcome the play-offs should they
progress from the group, are next in action on 6 February when they go to
last-placed Malta. Collison will hope to be involved again but there is
already talk of him attracting the attention of senior-team manager John
Toshack. The midfielder also had support from club-mate Craig Bellamy, the
Wales captain, who was watching from the stands on a chilly evening at
Ninian Park.

Spence leads England to victory - WHUFC
Academy centre-back Jordan Spence captained the Young Lions to a friendly
win
20.11.2007

Jordan Spence played a captain's role as England Under-18s recorded a 2-0
home friendly victory against Ghana in Gillingham on Tuesday night.

The 17-year-old West Ham United centre-back was part of a strong rearguard
display that kept the African side at bay while goals towards the end of
each half from Daniel Welbeck and Daniel Drinkwater did the damage. The
Young Lions could also afford to miss a penalty two minutes after their
opener through Nana Ofori-Twumasi, the Ghana-born full-back who moved to
England when he was ten, but the result was never in doubt.

Nine of the England set-up were involved in the U17 World Cup finals in late
summer, when Spence led his country to the quarter-finals. Ghana reached the
last four of that competition in Japan, underlining the significance of
Tuesday's performance. Spence has actually already represented England at
U19 level as well, helping them last month to qualify for next year's elite
qualifying round for the 2008 European Championship.

Etherington eager for Tottenham - WHUFC
A strong squad and the visit of a former club will motivate Mathew
Etherington this weekend
20.11.2007

Matthew Etherington is expecting manager Alan Curbishley to have a "little
bit of a headache" over team selection when his former club Tottenham
Hotspur visit on Sunday.

The likes of Scott Parker, Freddie Ljungberg and Dean Ashton are among the
fit-again players hoping to be involved this weekend, but Curbishley will
also be well aware of the commitment and contribution of those that have
taken the club to five games unbeaten. Etherington is among that number,
having already scored three times in eleven league games and excelled in a
left-sided partnership with George McCartney.

Speaking on WHUTV, the winger said: "The players that have come in have done
well and we have got some quality to come back, some very good players. It
will give the manager a little bit of a headache about what to do but it is
a good headache for him to have. I am sure we will all be geared up for
Tottenham."

The 26-year-old will have extra motivation for wanting to be at his best,
having played 45 times for Tottenham between January 2000 and August 2003
prior to his move to east London. "It is a game that has some meaning," he
said. "I always look forward to the games against Tottenham. I am sure the
fans do and the players do as well. We know what it means to the fans."

Etherington added that the 5-0 victory at Derby County before the
international break had only helped the positive mood in the camp. "We will
be going into the game full of confidence and knowing we are more than
capable of getting the three points," he said. Spurring him on as well will
be that realisation that more and more players are going to be competing for
starting spots.

"Obviously I know I need to play well week in, week out and I like to think
I have started the season quite well," he added. "It is good for me
personally but if I don't do well then I know I am going to get pushed out
of the team. I have got Kyel Reid behind me and Luis Boa Morte can play
there as well. There is good competition for places and that is what you
want at a Premier League club. It just shows that we are pushing on in the
right direction."

Spence set for Tuesday date - WHUFC
Jordan Spence is on England duty again, much to Tony Carr's delight
14.11.2007

Jordan Spence's year to remember will continue when he figures for England
Under-18s on Tuesday in a home friendly against Ghana.

The 17-year-old centre-back has already represented England U19s, helping
them last month to qualify for next year's elite qualifying round for the
2008 European Championship but has reverted to the younger age group for the
20 November fixture.

Spence, who captained his country to the U17 World Cup quarter-finals in
late summer, will follow defensive partner James Tomkins and midfielder
Junior Stanislas on Young Lions duty this month, with his team-mates playing
in last week's 1-0 U19 friendly defeat in Germany. After his satisfaction
over Stanislas and Tomkins, West Ham United academy director Tony Carr was
delighted Spence had also been called.

"Jordan also deserves his call-up," Carr said. "He's been in excellent form,
he was terrific alongside James in the reserve match [against Arsenal last
week] and has already got some good international experience under his belt.
This is another step in the right direction for him."

The Ghana game promises to be a tough test, with the African nation
including 14 of the players that got to the semi-finals of the U17 World
Cup, one step further than Spence's England. The match, to be played at
Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium, kicks off at 7pm. Check out WHUTV for
regular youth and reseve-team highlights and interviews.

Footballer assault jury goes out - BBC

The jury trying Premier League footballer Anton Ferdinand over an alleged
attack outside a nightclub has retired to consider its verdict. The West Ham
defender admits punching Emile Walker but told Snaresbrook Crown Court it
was in self-defence, fearing a friend was about to be attacked. The incident
took place outside the Faces nightclub in Ilford, east London on 2 October
last year. Ferdinand, 22, denies a charge of assault occasioning actual
bodily harm. The player, from Mottingham, south-east London, has also
pleaded not guilty to a charge of affray. On trial with him is Edward
Dawkins, 28, of Beckton, east London, who also denies the same two charges.

Collison impresses - KUMB
Filed: Tuesday, 20th November 2007

Jack Collison has been praised by Welsh under-21 boss Brian Flynn following
his international debut at the weekend.
Collison made his first appearance in a Welsh shirt when he represented the
under-21s in their 4-0 win over Bosnia at the weekend - a performance he
capped with a goal. And Flynn heaped praised upon his latest recruit, adding
that should he continue to impress a full international debut wouldn't be
too far away. "Jack was outstanding on his debut and scored a great goal,"
he said. "He is already in John Toshack's thoughts for a move up to the
seniors but has been told he has to get himself into West Ham's first team
first. "There is stiff competition for him there but he has to have
targets. He has been in their squad a couple of times recently, and we are
hearing good things from West Ham about how soon he might make the
breakthrough."
Collison struck four minutes from time in Saturday's win over Bosnia to help
keep the Welsh under-21s European Under-21 Championship qualification hopes
alive. Watford-born Collison qualifies to play for the Welsh though his
gradfather.

Collins reveals frustration - KUMB
Filed: Tuesday, 20th November 2007
By: Matthew O'Greel

James Collins has admitted that he is growing increasingly frustrated by his
injury situation. The Welsh centre-half - who recently rejected the
opportunity to return to former club Cardiff on loan - has been restricted
to just four appearances this season due to a succession of niggles. However
after returning to action at the weekend for Wales' 2-2 draw with Ireland he
is looking forward to getting back to full fitness and fighting for a first
team spot at Upton Park. "This season has been a nightmare for me," he
admitted. " At the end of last season I was playing the best football of my
career. Now I keep getting niggly injuries that have constantly kept me out
for weeks at a time.
"I can't get myself into a run of games but hopefully this spell with Wales
will be the start of a good spell for me."
Wales face Germany in their final European Championship qualifier tomorrow
night. Collins is set to be joined in the side by Danny Gabbidon and former
Hammer Freddie Eastwood, who now plays for Wolves in the Football League
Championship. Meanwhile, Geroge McCartney has been ruled out of Ireland's
make or break clash with Spain. Irish boss Nigel Worthington had hoped to
include the United full-back in his squad but has been told by club doctors
that he is not fit enough to be considered for selection.

Ephraim on his way? - KUMB

Reports this morning claim that West Ham have agreed to sell England youth
international Hogan Ephraim to Colchester United. Islington-born Ephraim -
who is yet to make a first team appearance for the Hammers - is understood
to be on his way to the North Essex club for a fee in the region of
£500,000. The highly-rated young striker spent six months on loan at Layer
Road last season where he made 21 appearances for the Us. This season he was
farmed out to QPR (13 appearances, 2 goals) before returning to West Ham
last week after spending three months at Loftus Road. Meanwhile, another
former Hammer confirmed a switch to Colchester earlier this week - former
liaison officer Sue Page. The popular Sue, who worked for the Hammers for
over 25 years has been named Colchester's new Head of Commercial Operations.
I felt that I needed a new challenge," she told cu-fc.com. "My time at West
Ham was a happy one but this is a new beginning for me and I'm really

Lee Bowyer Boost For West Ham - premiership latest
Tue, 2007-11-20 15:15.

West Ham United midfielder Lee Bowyer has returned to training following his
hernia operation he had after playing a starring role against Derby County.
The international break provided the right opportunity for the Hammers to go
ahead with the surgery as Bowyer had admitted he had been playing through
the pain barrier as there were host of other injured team-mates. Hammers
physio George Cooper said: "It's a good sign that things went well. He will
build up to speed throughout this week and begin full training next week."
The 30-year-old England international will miss Sunday's derby clash with
Tottenham but could be back in the Saturday week's derby at Chelsea.

West Ham midfielder Lee Bowyer has resumed light training following the
midfielder's hernia operation. Hammers physio George Cooper said: "It's a
good sign that things went well." He will build up to speed throughout this
week and begin full training next week," Cooper added. Meanwhile Joe Cole is
expecting no favours from his former club-mate Slaven Bilic as England look

Cole was just breaking into the West Ham side when Bilic was a star
performer and the Croatian coach has been tipped to eventually return to
Upton Park as manager. Croatia have already qualified for the finals in
Austria and Switzerland but Cole knows Bilic will want to finish the
campaign with a flourish. Cole said: "Slaven was a big player for West Ham
when I was very young and he'll get his team going on Wednesday. He's a
professional and there'll certainly be no favours from him. "He'll put a
side out there to win the game. Frank (Lampard) knew him more than me and

appreciated at West Ham. He was a really top player and he's proving himself

Inter insist they won't sell Adriano - foxsports
RivalsDM, Updated 1 hour ago

West Ham, Manchester City and Arsenal have been told by Inter Milan
president Massimo Moratti that they cannot sign Adriano in January. Inter
have dismissed speculation linking the Brazil striker with a move away from
the San Siro in the transfer window. The 25-year-old has struggled to make
an impact at Inter over the past two seasons and has fallen down the pecking
order at the Nerazzurri. But even though he has hardly figured under Roberto
Mancini this term, Moratti is not interested in selling a player once
considered one of the world's best. "Adriano will remain at Inter in
January," said Moratti. "I can rule out now any talk of his departure."
Adriano has been linked with a number of clubs in England as well as Sao
Paulo, Flamengo and Santos in his homeland.

Hammers young gun set for fast track - Daily Mail
Last updated at 11:50am on 20th November 2007

Brian Flynn says Collison needs to force himself into the Hammers first team
to boost his chances of a senior Welsh call-up. West Ham midfielder Jack
Collison is already on the fast-track to a full international cap after his
starring performance in Wales Under-21s' impressive 4-0 win over Bosnia on
Saturday. The victory puts the Welsh in with a chance of qualifying for the
UEFA Championship finals, and they will boost those hopes further tonight if
they can beat group favourites France at Cardiff's Ninian Park. Collison,
19, is boss Brian Flynn's latest Welsh discovery, the Watford-born youngster
having a grandfather from the Rhondda. Flynn said: "Jack was outstanding on
his debut and scored a great goal. He is already in John Toshack's thoughts
for a move up to the seniors. "But he has been told he has to get himself
into West Ham's first team. There is stiff competition there for him, but he
has to have targets. "He has been in their squad a couple of times recently,
and we are hearing good things from West Ham about how soon he might make
the breakthrough there. We are confident."
But with Scott Parker, Hayden Mullins, Mark Noble and Lee Bowyer in front of
him, the competition is fierce for Collison. Wales, though, will monitor his
progress and he will certainly come into the reckoning for their senior home
friendly with Norway at Wrexham in February. Flynn's new breed have made
quite an impact this season, with 15 goals in five games and only three
defeats in 13 matches. But he warned: "The trouble is that people are making
us favourites to beat France, and that is unrealistic. They are one of the
best sides at this level in Europe. "But the lads know that to have any
chance of qualifying, these are the games they must win and against teams
better than us."

Flynn, who has called up Wrexham's Marc Williams in place of the injured
Rhys Williams, will not be resorting to using the half-dozen lads in the
senior squad still qualified for the under-21s. He said: "Yes, we have
several lads like Wayne Hennessey, Chris Gunter and Joe Ledley who could
still play for us. But I will always stick with the young players I have now
in my squad, if they get a chance of qualifying for a finals then it is up
to them to achieve it. "Let's face it, England haven't used Wayne Rooney in
their under-21s, although he has been qualified. You must have confidence in
your own lads and stick by them."

Solano aiming for top six finish
By Guardian-series

NOBBY Solano has insisted that a top six Premier League finish is within
West Ham's reach this season. The Peruvian (pictured) has played a key role
in recent weeks - including a fabulous individual display and goal in the
rout of Derby - to ease the pressure on the Hammers well-documented injury
crisis. Up to 13 first team players at a time have been sidelined on the
treatment table, but Solano reckons there is still enough in the locker room
to be able to compete for a European place. "I know we're missing some
important players but we need to believe and trust in the team," he said.
"Unfortunately everybody is not fit but every member of the squad is
important. We have a lot of experience and quality."
Solano, a deadline day transfer from Newcastle, added: "We are thinking
about trying to finish this season well, and with the squad we have
hopefully finish in the top six or eight."

Wales defender James Collins concedes this season has been a "nightmare" for

"It is a good game to be involved in. We can't go there thinking we are

Tributes paid to Graham Paddon - WHUFC
Former West Ham United midfielder Graham Paddon has died aged 57
19.11.2007

Graham Paddon - a member of the 1975 FA Cup-winning side - has died aged 57
at his home in Norfolk.

The Manchester-born midfielder spent three years at West Ham United between
1973 and 1976, making 150 league and cup appearances and scoring 15 goals.
West Ham United manager Alan Curbishley, a former team-mate, paid tribute to
his friend. "Graham was one of the nicest people you could meet," he said.
"At the time I was breaking into the first team, he was an established
player having signed from Norwich. He was a terrific player and every West
Ham fan will remember his cultured left foot. He will be sorely missed."

Paddon was best known for his midfield partnership with Billy Bonds and
Trevor Brooking, playing a key role in the 2-0 defeat of Fulham in the 1975
triumph at Wembley before earning a runners-up medal in the European Cup
Winners' Cup the following year. En route to the 4-2 final defeat by RSC
Anderlecht in Brussels, Paddon scored a stunning 30-yard goal in the 2-1
semi-final first leg loss at Eintracht Frankfurt. He then helped the club
win 3-1 in the home return for a 4-3 aggregate success.

West Ham United assistant manager Mervyn Day played with Paddon in both the
1975 and 1976 finals. He said: "As a member of the same side as Graham, I'll
remember his dynamism, the balance he brought to the side but, above all
else, the ferocity of his left foot in shooting practice. My heartfelt
thoughts go out to his family at this sad time."

Paddon leaves behind his wife Sandra and three children - Guy, Jenny and
Heather. Either side of his time at the Boleyn Ground, Paddon had two spells
with Norwich City - making 340 appearances- while he also played for
Coventry City, Millwall and the US side Tampa Bay Rowdies. As a coach, he
worked for Stoke and Portsmouth and he also acted as a scout for Liverpool,
Derby County and Leicester City.

Community matters for Curbishley - WHUFC
Alan Curbishley has been highlighting the club's firm commitment to helping
others
19.11.2007

Alan Curbishley has spoken of the importance of community work to West Ham
United - both in reaching out to fans and also in attracting talented young
players.

In a special interview featured today on WHUTV, the manager underlined his
firm commitment to Creating Chances, the Premier League's flagship community
programme. Curbishley was speaking after taking part in a presentation to
coaches who had been training for their Level 1 accreditation, a course run
in partnership with Havering Adult College which gives them valuable skills
to share in the wider community.

Curbishley revealed there was a commitment throughout the club to highlight
such worthy initiatives and that such an approach dated back to when he was
a player at the Boleyn Ground in the 1970s and even before that to his own
childhood. "I remember going to a local school and during the week West Ham
players would come in and coach us," he said. "They were encouraged to do it
and we are trying to bring that back.

"The club is really demanding that the players get involved in the community
and it is part and parcel of being at a football club," said Curbishley. "We
have been saying to our players in the last year or two - 'you don't just
play for West Ham, you work for West Ham'. The community is a big part of
it, because out there is firstly our new generation of fans and secondly
some of them fans may become footballers. We have got to do our best to
promote that and do our best to try and get that to happen."

One such fan that lived the dream and became a West Ham United player was
Mark Noble, and Curbishley emphasised the young midfielder's importance both
on and off the pitch. "I think every club needs some homegrown talent and I
don't think it is any coincidence that the biggest-selling shirt in our club
at the moment is Mark Noble. The fans can have an affinity with him, can
appreciate him and he knows what they are about. He is one of them."

While Curbishley has been highlighting the efforts made to train up young
community coaches - which you can see in action on WHUTV - his players have
been getting out and about to highlight other worthy causes. The most recent
of these was when Craig Bellamy and Kieron Dyer visited a special school
scheme. Click here to read more about it and check out Sunday's matchday
programme for a special feature.

# Havering Adult College has been working with West Ham United since 2003 to
help members of the local community gain their Level 1 coaching badge. The
course begins with an induction at the Boleyn Ground, features three
practical sessions with a club coach, classroom sessions, emergency first
aid, two practical assessment days and finally a child protection workshop.
All learners are supported with any literacy or numeracy needs. For more

Ladies hit 12 past Reading - WHUFC
An emphatic weekend performance saw Carly Roache lead from the back
19.11.2007

West Ham United 12-0 Reading Royals

West Ham United Ladies romped to their record league victory on Sunday
against a valiant Reading side at Harlow Town.

The emphatic FA Premier Women's League South victory surpassed the club's
previous best scoreline - an 11-0 success against Collier Row back in 1994
in the Greater London Regional Women's League. Katy Ling and Tracy Duxbury
both registered their first hat-tricks for the club with Sam Pittuck adding
two. The remaining goals came from Natalie Grafton, Clare Rogers and Dani
Hoy and - to compound a miserable day for the visitors - an own goal in the
final minute.

Manager Tony Marshall said: "Whilst the score speaks for itself, you have to
give credit to the visitors, they have obviously had a lot of internal
problems and have lost a lot of players. They came here with a very young
side that have been thrown in at the deep end. They never gave up, so many
times a team on the end of a drubbing get frustrated and the game turns
nasty. There were never any signs of this happening and the Reading girls
just kept on trying to play their football.

"I think that they may have accepted that it may be a tall order to avoid
relegation this season, but I am sure that if this group of girls continue
to show the character that they showed today that they would be back within
a season or two. They did not win any points today or score any goals but
they won a lot of friends and we all wish them well."

Marshall also paid tribute to the professionalism in his side. "The whole
team impressed me but Sam Pittuck was superb today," he said. "Katy Ling
showed some tremendous quality in front of goal and with her build up play
and, at the back, Carly Roache personified composure." The team are next in
action on Sunday when they travel to Cornwall to take on Newquay at the home
of Truro City FC. "We have come on in leaps and bounds just in the last
month and we will be travelling down in the right spirit," Marshall added.

West Ham United: Toni Monro, Carly Roache, Jess Barling (Dani Hoy), Clare
Rogers, Grace Coombs, Lauren White, Sam Pittuck (Chelsea Fowler), Katy Ling,
Tracy Duxbury, Lindsay Morgan (Natalie Grafton).

Collins bemoans 'nightmare' - SSN
Defender frustrated by injuries
By Lewis Rutledge Last updated: 19th November 2007

James Collins is hoping his injury problems have finally cleared up so he
can establish himself in the West Ham side again. Collins played his first
full 90 minutes in a month as Wales drew 2-2 with Republic of Ireland on
Saturday.
He has been sidelined with a calf problem and there has been speculation
suggesting he will be a transfer target for Fulham in January. Collins is
looking forward to facing Germany in a Euro 2008 qualifier on Wednesday and
is then looking to get more regular football under his belt. He said: "This
season has been a nightmare for me. At the end of last season I was playing
the best football of my career and now I have kept getting niggly injuries
that have constantly kept me out for weeks at a time. "I can't get myself
into a run of games but hopefully this spell with Wales will be the start of

involved in. We can't go there thinking we are going to get a real beating,
there would be no point in even travelling if that was the case."
Collins believes the game against Germany is important even though Wales
cannot qualify for Euro 2008. He explained: "We have our confidence restored
now and we are looking to get a good result but we are really looking
towards the next World Cup qualifying campaign now. "We aim to get as much
experience from this game in Germany as we can. We did pretty well away to
the Czechs and we battered Slovakia, so we know we can produce good results
against better countries."

WHUFC v Spurs - A Turning Point? - West Ham Online
Pee Wee - Mon Nov 19 2007

The game at home to Spurs last year was in my mind the turning point of our
season. Tevez breaking his duck, Quashie getting injured and Noble starting
every game from thereon in are some of the factors.

However important those factors were i think the reaction of us the fans
that should not be under estimated. If the likes of NRC were to be believed
the players had been trying their hardest all season and when 'you're not
fit to wear the shirt' was sung, it was unjustified.

Although i'm not one for booing or singing songs like that i do realise that
the fans have few opportunities to show their frustration and after the
games at Bolton and Reading – well, they weren't fit to wear the shirts.

What the Spurs game proved was – the results that we had during the season
wasn't the major problem it was the effort and the performances. I think for
the first time that year the players realised that if they put the effort in
then we would respond by giving them our full support. I remember at the
final whistle after snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, the chorus of
Bubbles was immense – it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and
i'm not ashamed to admit, i filled up.

Much has been said of the atmosphere –or the lack of, at The Boleyn this
season and it's true it hasn't been great. The best has been against
Arsenal, again a game we lost but put in the effort we expect from every
player in Claret and Blue.

Well now we look forward to Sunday and a match against arguably our fiercest
rivals – in this division at least. I would hate it if this game kick
started their season like it did ours last year and i really think a win
over this lot can give us (players and Fans) that we can kick on to great
things this season.

Much has been said recently by players such as Ashton and Lucas Neill about
the positive effect the fans have on the players. The old cliche about the
fans being the 12th man can be proved true but it is up to every single one
of us on Sunday. So join in the songs, sing, shout, cheer and chant to the
top of your voice - if you sit in a quieter area of the ground like me - all
the more reason to stand up shout and scream - you might look a cock but
hopefully it will spur (pun intended) others around you to give the team the
vocal support it both needs and deserves.

Let's show our team what we are all about, let's show them we're behind
them, let's show them we appreciate the efforts they have made with a
weakened squad – and let's show the Tottenham fans what REAL support is.

COME ON YOU IRONSSS!!!!!

FA Cup winner Graham Paddon dies - Telegraph
By Martin Smith
Last Updated: 1:11am GMT 20/11/2007

Graham Paddon, who died suddenly at home in Norfolk yesterday aged 57, made
290 League appearances in two spells for Norwich City, yet he achieved his
greatest period of success during three years sandwiched in between with
West Ham.

When he arrived in December 1973 in the deal that took Ted MacDougall in the
opposite direction, West Ham were in serious relegation trouble; by the time
he rejoined Norwich in November 1976, he had an FA Cup winner's medal and
had played in a European Cup-Winners' Cup final.

1975: Graham Paddon (r) receives an award with Trevor Brooking at Upton Park
in his West Ham days
Paddon played in a midfield that included Billy Bonds and Trevor Brooking,
and latterly Alan Curbishley, the current manager. Paddon, the man with the
fair hair and the trademark 1970s moustache, was by no means overawed or
outshone by the more illustrious names around him. Indeed he was an
important part in the jigsaw that Ron Greenwood and John Lyall put together
after the glory days of the mid-Sixties.

Having helped West Ham keep their place in the old First Division in his
first season there, he ended his second at Wembley. Indeed, it was his shot
that Peter Mellor, the Fulham goalkeeper, spilled, allowing Alan Taylor to
nip in and score his second goal in West Ham's 2-0 victory.

The following season Paddon would score the important away goal, a stunning
30-yard drive, in the first leg of the semi-final in the Cup-Winners' Cup
against Eintracht Frankfurt that enabled West Ham to return home under the
Upton Park lights just 2-1 in arrears. On a famous night, Brooking scored
twice as West Ham went through to the final 4-3 on aggregate. He was also
part of the team who twice equalised in the final against Anderlecht in the
Heysel Stadium, but ultimately lost 4-2.

Curbishley said yesterday: "Graham was one of the nicest people you could
meet. He was a terrific player and every West Ham fan will remember his
cultured left foot." Curbishley's assistant, Mervyn Day, who played in goal
in both finals, added: "I'll remember his dynamism, the balance he brought
to the side but, above all else, the ferocity of his left foot in shooting
practice."

Paddon, Manchester-born, had joined Norwich from Coventry City, where he
started his career. He played in Norwich's promotion-winning team in 1972,
and was in the side beaten by Tottenham in the following year's League Cup
final.

In his post-playing days he was assistant manager at both Portsmouth and
Stoke, as well as acting as a scout for Derby, Liverpool and Leicester. He
leaves a wife, Sandra, and three children.

Collison tipped for bright future - TeamTalk

West Ham midfielder Jack Collison is on the fast-track to a full
international cap after starring for Wales Under-21s in the win over Bosnia.
The 4-0 victory puts the Welsh in with a chance of qualifying for the UEFA
Championship finals, and they will boost those hopes further on Tuesday
night if they can beat group favourites France at Cardiff's Ninian Park.
Collison, 19, is boss Brian Flynn's latest Welsh discovery, the Watford-born
youngster having a grandfather from the Rhondda. Flynn said: "Jack was
outstanding on his debut and scored a great goal. He is already in John
Toshack's thoughts for a move up to the seniors. "But he has been told he
has to get himself into West Ham's first team. There is stiff competition
there for him, but he has to have targets. "He has been in their squad a
couple of times recently, and we are hearing good things from West Ham about
how soon he might make the breakthrough there.

Cole expects no favours from Bilic - TeamTalk

Joe Cole is not expecting any favours from his former West Ham team-mate
Slaven Bilic in England's do-or-die clash with Croatia on Wednesday. Cole
was just breaking into the Irons side when Bilic was a star performer and
the Croatian coach has been tipped to eventually return to Upton Park as
manager. Croatia have already qualified for the finals in Austria and
Switzerland but Cole knows Bilic will want to finish the campaign with a
flourish. He said: "Slaven was a big player for West Ham when I was very
young and he'll get his team going on Wednesday. He's a professional and
there'll certainly be no favours from him. "He'll put a side out there to
win the game. Frank (Lampard) knew him more than me and played with him for
a few years at West Ham. "Slaven was well liked and well appreciated at West
Ham. He was a really top player and he's proving himself as a manager as
well."
Cole is aware the threat Croatia, who defeated England 2-0 earlier in the
campaign, could pose at Wembley and they are defending an unbeaten record in
their group. He said: "I didn't play in the game in Croatia but Eduardo da
Silva up front is a threat and they keep the ball well. They're a very good
technical team and very good at home. "They'll come to Wembley and maybe
relax and try to knock the ball around. But it's all about us, really. We
have to perform as we know we can. "Apart from 10 minutes in Russia, we've
done very well for the last six months or so since the summer draw with
Brazil at Wembley. "We've found a style of play that has suited us. There's
a belief there. We've performed for the last 10 games and we want to keep
that going."
Cole believes the slice of luck England received via Israel's win over
Russia was overdue after some of the heartache they have suffered in past
tournaments. He said: "I know it can be a cruel game at times but you get
what you deserve. "England have been notoriously unlucky at times in the
past in major tournaments so maybe we're getting a little bit back now. "If
we qualify, we will have deserved to qualify. It's all about how we play on
Wednesday night. Let's not forget that this is a big game and let's not get
over-excited because Israel beat Russia."

West Ham accept Colchester offer for Ephraim
tribalfootball.com - November 19, 2007

West Ham United prospect Hogan Ephraim is signing permanently with
Colchester. The Sun says Colchester have agreed a £500,000 fee with West Ham
to buy Ephraim. The striker, 19, whose loan spell at QPR has expired, was a
hit with the U's last term and owner Robbie Cowling will splash out in
January.

Curbishley: West Ham fans love local lad Noble
tribalfooball.com - November 19, 2007

West Ham boss Alan Curbishley isn't surprised by the popularity of local lad
Mark Noble. He told WHUTV: "I think every club needs some homegrown talent
and I don't think it is any coincidence that the biggest-selling shirt in
our club at the moment is Mark Noble. The fans can have an affinity with
him, can appreciate him and he knows what they are about. He is one of
them."

West Ham want Makelele - Sportigo
Mon, Nov 19, 07 13:57
Mark Apostolou

Chelsea's veteran French midfielder Claude Makelele has admitted he's unsure
of his future at the club beyond the end of this season (L'Equipe), and
apparently this uncertainty has alerted West Ham boss Alan Curbishley.
Makalele, 34, has found himself short of first-team action under Grant and
has found his appearances with the national side suffering as a result.

The former Real Madrid and Marseille battler said: "Will I go on after my
contract in 2009? I don't know. It will depend on my desire and my physical
condition. I will go on as long as I can. I will first take stock after Euro
2008."

How would Hammers fans feel about a move for a player who has won national
titles in three countries? Sure, he is a bit long in the tooth but he still
seems able to do a good job even at the highest level. I think he would be a
good signing for the Upton Park side.

George McCartney ruled out of Spain game - Telegraph
By Malcolm Brodie
Last Updated: 1:11am GMT 20/11/2007

George McCartney, the West Ham defender, has been ruled out of Northern
Ireland's clash with Spain at Las Palmas tomorrow. He missed Saturday's 2-1
victory over Denmark at Windsor Park with an ankle injury but had planned to
join up with the party in Gran Canaria yesterday. West Ham medical staff
decided the 26-year-old could not start training for another 48 hours,
however, and opted to keep him at home for further treatment. Cardiff's Tony
Capaldi or Fulham's Chris Baird could take over, while Bristol City winger
Ivan Sproule appears the obvious stand-in for Keith Gillespie, who is
suspended. Nigel Worthington, the manager, has also to decide whether to
recall Burnley's Kyle Lafferty, after a one-match suspension, or retain
Cardiff's Warren Feeney, who hit the equaliser and made a big impact against
the Danes. Raymond Kennedy, Irish FA president, said they would be making
representations to Uefa for David Healy to be recognised after establishing
a Euro qualifying record with 13 goals in this campaign. Kennedy said: "It's
an amazing achievement considering the big names there are with major
nations."
Healy has scored 33 goals in 61 internationals and 1982 World Cup hero Gerry
Armstrong says the 50 mark could be reached if he avoids injuries and
suspensions. Meanwhile a large group of fans from Northern Ireland, on their
way to the match against Spain, were evicted from their plane at Madrid
because they were drunk and disorderly. A total of 153 passengers had to
leave the midnight flight to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, when 64 passengers
were alleged to have caused mayhem in the cabin. The Iberia Airlines crew
could not make them take their seats and the captain ordered everyone off. A
company spokeswoman said: "We let the other passengers leave and arranged
later flights for 60 of the fans who apologised, but four fans who refused
to say sorry were refused boarding passes."
Wales face a potential striker crisis going into their final Group D
qualifier against Germany in Frankfurt tomorrow.
Already robbed of Craig Bellamy with a groin problem, they now have fitness
doubts about Wolves' Freddy Eastwood, their lone striker in Saturday's 2-2
draw with the Republic of Ireland. Derby forward Robert Earnshaw trained
yesterday for the first time in almost a week after recovering from illness
and is unlikely to be ready in time. So John Toshack could be forced to
field either David Cotterill, who has started only three games for Wigan, or
Jermaine Easter, the Wycombe forward on loan at Plymouth. Wales are also
without Gareth Bale and Carl Robinson while Jason Koumas is suspended.

Club mourning Graham Paddon - WHUFC

Graham Paddon - KUMB
Filed: Monday, 19th November 2007
By: Matthew O'Greel

Former Hammer Graham Paddon has died at the age of just 57. Manchester-born
Paddon died suddenly at his home earlier today. He spent three years at West
Ham under both Ron Greenwood and John Lyall during the 1970s and went on to
make 151 appearances in claret and blue. Greenwood signed the midfielder
from Norwich City in 1973 for £170,000. He went on to play in West Ham's
most important games of that period including the 1975 FA Cup Final and the
1976 Cup Winners Cup Final before rejoining Norwich following West Ham's 1-0
defeat at Carrow Road in November of that year. Paddon will probably be best
remembered by Hammers fans for the 30-yard screamer he scored against
Eintract Frankfurt in the away leg of the Cup Winners Cup semi-final which
proved vital to United's progression to the final. Born in 1950, Paddon
began his professional career with Coventry City. After making just five
appearances for the Sky Blues, Ron Saunders paid £25,000 to take him to
Norwich in 1969. Paddon was part of the City side that won promotion to the
(old) First Division for the first time in their history in the 1971/72
season. He joined the Hammers a year later in a cash plus player deal that
saw Ted MacDougall sign for City.
After returning to Norwich in 1976, Paddon went on to make a total of 350
appearances for the club before departing for Millwall in 1981, having also
spent some time in the US playing in the now defunct NASL with Tampa Bay
Rowdies alongside other aging English pros such as Rodney Marsh. After only
five games for Millwall, Paddon went to Hong Kong where he ended his playing
days with Eastern AA. Brief spells in coaching with Portsmouth, Stoke and
Derby were to follow.

KUMB's condolences go to Graham's partner and three children.
