Eidur Gudjohnsen's father and agent, Arnor, insists he son will not be
returning to the Premiership next season. The Icelandic ace has been
strongly linked with a move back to England, after failing to really hit the
heights with Barcelona - since his move to Catalunya two years ago. However,
Gudjohnsen senior feels the likes of Newcastle, West Ham, Portsmouth and
Sunderland can forget about making an offer for his son. "He hasn't been
thinking about coming back to England at all," he told the Sunday Sun. "He
really wants to make amends for the last six months at Barcelona, which have
been difficult for him. "He wants to do better there next season having now
learned how Spanish football is. "Of course, you never know what is going to
happen, and it is flattering that clubs like Newcastle are linked with him.
"But the fact is I have not heard anything from any clubs in England, and
Ediur wants to stay where he is."

Carlos Tevez claims he has no preference about where to play next season,
and admits his future will be decided by Kia Joorabchian. Hammers chairman
Eggert Magnusson has expressed his desire to keep the Argentine at Upton
Park, but he has been strongly linked with a move away. Real Madrid are
believed to be lining up a big-money move for Tevez this summer and he
admits the prospect of playing at the Bernabeu is appealing. But he insists
he is unsure where he will end up, although he would like to see West Ham
benefit from the deal. "Moving to Madrid would be exciting but I don't mean
anything by that," Tevez told the News of the World. "I would like to play
for an important European club. "That's what I told my agent and Kia
Joorabchian, who is in charge of my transfer. "But the priority is what
suits West Ham, they have always treated me well. "There isn't one club
which appeals more than any other."
Tevez had a slow start to his Premiership career but was inspirational in
the last few weeks of the season as West Ham secured top flight survival.
And he admits that he has hugely enjoyed his time at West Ham and has no
great desire to leave. "I'm very happy with The Hammers, they've been
marvellous to me," he explained. "I'll never forget the last match of the
season that we won away to Manchester United at Old Trafford when our fans
chanted 'Argentina, Argentina'. "It made a huge impression on me."

Aston Villa are leading the race for England Under-21 captain Nigel
Reo-Coker, who has submitted a transfer request at West Ham. The Hammers are
reportedly keen to slap an £8million price tag on the 23-year-old, who has
fallen out with manager Alan Curbishley due to a breakdown in contract
negotiations. Villa boss Martin O'Neill has a transfer warchest available
this summer but believes the valuation on Reo-Coker is too high. However, he
may be able to persuade West Ham to accept a lower fee in order to push
through a transfer for the want-away midfielder.

Charlton are hoping to kick off an auction among Premiership clubs for
striker Darren Bent and want the bidding to start at £12million. The

CARLOS TEVEZ insists he would love to stay in England as the fight for his
signature hots up. The Argentina star, 23, believes Chelsea, Liverpool and
Real Madrid are battling it out to snatch him from West Ham. Tevez has a
buy-out clause of £40million in his contract with tycoon Kia Joorabchian,
who owns the hitman's transfer rights and is looking to bank at least £30m.
And the Hammers hero admits he has been seduced by the passion of the
Premiership as he waits for his future to be resolved. Tevez said: "I still
don't know where I will play next season. "Chelsea and Real Madrid have
been talked about but I still don't know where I'll go. I'm staying calm and

BIRMINGHAM CITY are reported to have had a £2million bid rejected for West
Ham's Paul Konchesky. West Ham want £4million for the former Charlton

What happened is that English football has more pace and technique I always
knew I would have to be pretty physical to compete against opposing
defenders that I would come up against.
Q what is the biggest surprise for you about English football?
A seeing the fans so close to the pitch close enough to reach out and touch
the players I was not used to anything like that in Argentina.
you could not play in Argentina without the fences or grills there would be

A it was a big surprise for me because I recognised at once we had some very
good players I think that the fault lay with the entire team me included.
because we did not expect to be fighting for survival down near the

Q was it a problem for you when Javier Mascherano was transferred to
Liverpool in midseason?
A it was hard finding myself on my own Mascherano is not only a terrific
team mate but he and I have been great friends since we played together in
Argentina's under 20 squad and then later with Corinthians in brazil.
but going to Liverpool was the best thing that could have happened to him he
was not happy at West Ham United I could see it in training he was really
depressed because there was no place in the team for him.
I was thrilled he got to the champions league final we had been friend ever
since we were picked put by the argentine federation aged 14 I am very happy
at the way he finished the season with Liverpool.
Q how did the fans at Upton park respond to you?
A the people are terrific you can go out and they respect your privacy it
has been five years since I have been able to do a simple thing like that.
I can take my daughter out in the park very few people come up to you not
like in Argentina where they really get in your face England is a different
world.
you have a lot more peace people do not get worked up as much as they do
back home!
Q why do you think they took to you like they did?
A because I play with my heart on my sleeve as that is the sort of person
that I am I think that the West Ham United fans appreciated it that I gave
101 per cent.
Q why did you jump in to the crowd when you scored against T*******m?
A it was just that the West Ham United fans had been brilliant even though
Javier did not play much they always cheered him in the warm up or during
the game.
then they used to chant my name for me to be brought on as a substitute
until the manager gave in!
the way that I went to the crowd was a big thank you for the brilliant
support that they had gave to me personally.
Q what about the future will you stay at West Ham?
A I do not know I am very very happy at the hammers they have been
marvellous to me I will never ever forget the last match of the season that
we won away at old Trafford when our fans chanted Argentina! Argentina!
for someone like me who had a relative who fought in the Malvinas and who
knows the feeling that existed after the war it was incredible to hear that
chant.
I was amazed that I could be a idol for English teams it made a huge
impression on me.
Q do you expect to move on to a big club on the continent? maybe real Madrid
if the rumours are true?
A moving to real Madrid would be exciting but I do not mean anything by that
I would like to play for a important European club.

Q one of the first visits you made you returned to Buenos Aires was to visit
Diego Maradona how was he?
A everyone wishes Diego all the best when you are a successful footballer

Luke Young will join West Ham this summer 12 months after his £5millon move
to Upton park was wrecked when he failed a medical. Young's old Charlton
Athletic's boss Alan Curbishley is ready to steal the right back from the
man who made him a hammer former West Ham chief Alan Pardew. One time
England defender young has been unsettled since curbs left the valley a
source close to young 26 said Luke was gutted when he failed a medical on a
knee problem and is delighted that the hammers are interested in him again.

Aldridge to sue in Tevez row.
PAUL Aldridge is threatening to take legal action in the fall-out from the
Tevez-gate row with the Premier League. The former West Ham chief executive
is appalled he was never called to give evidence to the Independent
Commission that fined West Ham £5.5m - yet he claims his reputation has been
tarnished by the fall-out from that enquiry. Aldridge, who spent 10 years as
Hammers' chief executive, said: "I've instructed a specialist libel lawyer
to act on my behalf. Until the publication of the enquiry's findings my
integrity had never been questioned." The key issue is a meeting between
Aldridge and PL chief executive Richard Scudamore. Both men agreed it was a
private, off-the-record meeting. Yet Scudamore referred extensively to this
meeting in his evidence to the enquiry and said he had made it clear to
Aldridge he would be unable to ignore any disclosures of rule breaches. A
Premier League spokesman said: "The matter is in the hands of our lawyers.
