International round-up
WHUFC.com

West Ham United's birthday boy Dimitri Payet scored another terrific
free-kick on Tuesday night, though this time wearing the blue of France, as
his side beat Russia 4-2. The midfielder, celebrating his 29th birthday,
entered the field of play at the Stade de France during the second half with
Les Blues 2-1 up. Two minutes later, he was on the scoresheet, curling an
unstoppable effort into the top-left corner from a dead-ball. And though
Russia pulled one back, Payet helped restore the hosts' two-goal advantage
as he set-up Kingsley Coman for their fourth. It caps a superb week for
Payet in which manager Didier Deschamps has been full of praise for the
playmaker.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Darren Randolph was a first half substitute as he
replaced an injured Rob Elliot in the Republic of Ireland's 2-2 draw with
Slovakia. After falling behind, Randolph's side took the lead through two
penalties, scored by Shane Long and James McClean, however a Paul McShane
own goal levelled the game.

Victor Moses played but could not help Nigeria to a result against Egypt, as
they fell 1-0 in African Cup of Nations qualifying.

There was a win for Cheikhou Kouyate's Senegal in qualifying, however, as
they were 2-1 winners over Niger.

Later on Tuesday evening, Enner Valencia's Ecuador side take on Colombia in
their FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Finally, young Hammers goalkeeper Sam Howes was an unused substitute as
England U19s beat Spain 2-0 away from home.

The Big Interview - Adrian
WHUFc.com

Adrian had an eventful time at Mark Noble's Testimonial match on Easter
Monday. The West Ham United goalkeeper was beaten by a Craig Bellamy
wonder-strike, ran the length of the pitch to put the Hammers 2-1 up, then
returned to fire a spot-kick high over the crossbar in a penalty shootout.
With the fun and games of the Testimonial now behind him and his teammates,
Adrian went on to tell West Ham TV that attention has now turned to
Saturday's Barclays Premier League visit of Crystal Palace and the challenge
for a place in the top four.

Adrian, what a fantastic day for the Club on Monday!

"Yes, it was a fantastic Testimonial. In fact, it was the first Testimonial
that I have played in. It was amazing, because all the fans and the players
were involved in an emotional game. I think the occasion was really, really
good."

There were some good goals, but none more so that yours, running 100 metres
with the ball before scoring!

"Yes, you have to be a little bit funny with the players and I think the
fans enjoyed the game! They let me score, too! I thought when I was in the
middle of the pitch 'Is anyone going to tackle me?' but all I was trying to
do was make a little fun and I think it worked!"

Your strike was too much for David James...!

"Yes, probably! It was good for me!"

Then we had the penalty shootout and the gloves came off but this time,
unlike against Everton, we had the wrong result!

"This time I didn't have a great result but I did it just to give a little
emotion to the penalty shootout and also I'd scored one goal before, so I
was probably not concentrating a little bit!"

Normally it is you that is saving the penalties, but this time it was Mark
Noble's friend Robert Hatton who took centre-stage, saving three!

"I was impressed, of course, and I told him 'You must have been training all
the week before to save three penalties!' It's good for him because it's a
good sensation to save a penalty at Upton Park. At the end of the day, I
think it was a great day."

It was nice to have a little break, including a trip home to Seville for you
and your family, but now we have to concentrate on the Barclays Premier
League and Saturday's home game with Crystal Palace?

"Yes, we have a great game on Saturday here again. We are in a great
position and we have a chance to win the three points here again at home and
we need to give 120 per cent like we did before the international break. I
think we are playing well and showing a good performance and are in a great
moment."

From the Terraces - Joe Difford
WHUFC.com

Fan blogger Joe Difford looks at the Hammers players in international
action...

Last week Mark Noble's England exclusion made all the headlines after what
has been the best season of his career so far, but the skipper was in action
in his star-studded testimonial on Monday, which he certainly wouldn't have
traded for a cap. For others, they were more fortunate, and were pulling on
their national team jerseys over the long Easter weekend, hoping to maintain
their impressive club form, but remain injury-free as we approach the most
important eight games in the history of our club. Dimitri Payet finally
earned a recall to the France side after what has been a magnificent first
season in the Premier League in claret and blue, and he did not disappoint.
The magic number 27 was handed a start on his return to international
action, forcing Dutch 'keeper Jasper Cillessen into a good save in the
opening few minutes. Payet remained at the centre of the action throughout,
clipping the outside of the post later on, before setting up Paul Pogba, but
the Juventus man missed his header. Payet was hugely influential in what
turned out to be France's winning goal late on, as he played through
Manchester United's Anthony Martial, who set Blaise Matuidi free and he
coolly finished past Cillessen. He then went one better on Tuesday, coming
off the bench and almost immediately scoring yet another stunning free-kick
as France defeated Russia 4-2 in Paris. Hammers fans won't be surprised at
how well their midfield maestro performed, but it is great to see a player
who was overlooked for a year finally show what he can do, and he will
surely play a huge role in France's EURO campaign this summer.

Darren Randolph kept yet another clean sheet in action for the Republic of
Ireland in their friendly against Switzerland. Just a few months ago, he was
the hero as his side beat Germany, with the West Ham man keeping a clean
sheet and getting the assist with a phenomenal long ball. Against
Switzerland he was again on top form, making four decent saves in a game
dominated by the visitors on paper.

Enner Valencia might not be preparing for the EUROs, but his Ecuador side
were in action against Paraguay and he found the back of the net for the
14th time in his country's colours. Valencia might be struggling for goals
and fitness in claret and blue, but he expertly buried a rebound after a
shot cannoned back off the crossbar and fell to the Hammers' number 11. He
was in action again on Tuesday against Colombia, and will be hoping that his
performances could help him force his way back into Slaven Bilic's side.

Much of the past week's news might have focused on how Noble, Aaron
Cresswell and Michail Antonio missed out on deserved England caps, but
Payet, Randolph and Valencia were stand-out performers in their games. As we
approach a crucial time in the club's history and a hugely important eight
games, international friendlies can make or break our side, depending on
whether our men get injured or maintain top form. Luckily for the Hammers
who travelled over land and sea this past week, they impressed their
national managers, and perhaps once we have the FA Cup in our trophy case
and a European place secured, these players can look forward to a successful
summer of international football. For more West Ham fan views or to join the

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
From the Newsroom
WHUFC.com

Sunday Mirror football reporter and West Ham United fan Steve Stammers looks
back at a memorable career for Mark Noble at the Boleyn Ground.

ON the face of it, the question was a simple one. "Any memory of an
outstanding performance from Mark Noble," was the request. One problem – I
don't have one.

Before I incur the wrath of a sizeable number of the population of Canning
Town, my response was intended to be a compliment. There is one quality
which every manager wants and craves and that is consistency. Mark Noble is
the embodiment of that quality.

Not explosive like Dimitri Payet or Paolo Di Canio. Not a man who can change
the course of a game with a burst of speed. Not a towering penalty box
presence like Andy Carroll. Not a lightning-quick winger in the mould of
Victor Moses. But what he does give is a level of performance that can never
be questioned.

Noble epitomises what is needed from the modern midfield player. He is
committed in the challenge, can control the ball with a more than decent
touch and has a pass in him. And his passion is there for all to see – and
not only by the opposition.

Last season, Noble thought his close friend James Tomkins fell short and let
him know in no uncertain terms. But there was no hangover, no ill-feeling.
Indeed, Noble laughed it off during the game. "He is my neighbour," said
Noble. "And I might go round and egg his house!"

But Noble has no time for jokes on the field. If a team-mate is in trouble
and surrounded by adversaries, you can be sure Noble will be there to ensure
his mate does not stand alone. If confronted, he will never take a step
backwards.

Noble isn't the type to look for trouble but he won't hide from it either.
He plays in the minefield area of the pitch. There is more action, more
tackles, more head-on challenges in that zone than in any other. In the
helter-skelter world of English football, it is no place for the
faint-hearted. And Mark Noble has not been hard to find.

He can create as well as destroy. He has nerves of steel when it comes to
taking penalties. If he misses one, he won't blink if asked to take another
on another day. If there is one honour which is missing from his CV it is
that he has – to date – not played a full international for England.

A stunning omission for someone who represented his country at all ages up
to the Under-21 team.

A glance at some of the names who have earned that considerable accolade
makes Noble's absence from the full squad even more surprising. But Noble is
a phlegmatic type of character.

He will not let that affect his drive or ambition to bring Champions League
football to the Olympic Stadium when West Ham move to the new ground next
season.

And so much credit for Noble's philosophy and approach must go to his
father. He wanted his son to enjoy his football in his early teens.

So when West Ham suggested that Noble junior miss school matches to
concentrate on his Academy work at the Club, Noble senior put his foot down.
"He wants to play with his mates and that is what he will do," he said.
Noble did just that – and was still signed on.

That is how highly West Ham rated him – and their judgement has been proved
right. On 358 occasions to be precise.

Payet - It's a good omen for things to come
WHUFC.com

Dimitri Payet marked his return to the French squad in spectacular fashion
over the international break with an incredible 35-yard free-kick goal
against Russia.

He had only been on the pitch two minutes at the Stade de France, and after
curling in his side's third, he also set-up the fourth in a 4-2 win, playing
in Kingsley Coman who did the rest.

The terrific substitute appearance came days after he put in an impressive
display over 90 minutes in a 3-2 away win over the Netherlands.

The midfielder spoke to the media after Tuesday night's game.

Dimitri, do you think that you have finished convincing Didier Deschamps
that you deserve a place in the squad?

"I don't know. It's up to the manager to decide. I tried, like I do in all
matches, to bring something to the game. My impact was positive and so I am
happy."

With these two victories, do you feel that you have succeeded?

"I don't know if I would say that. In any case, my aim was to try to play as
well with the national side as I have been with West Ham. I managed to
attack these games with confidence and I played well in both games, both in
important situations. It's a great return, to score and to set one up.
Making a difference is always what counts in football. It's a good omen for
what's to come."

Tell us a bit about your free-kick, just after coming off the bench.

"The free-kick was my first touch, and I have had a little taste of success.
I am savouring it."

You gave yourself a nice birthday present too, didn't you?!

"Having a game on your birthday is something that doesn't happen very often.
My family were at the game tonight and that makes me even happier. We will
celebrate it together."

How will you be feeing while waiting for the UEFA Euro 2018 squad
announcement?

"I will be pretty chilled, in the same way I have been since the start of
this season. I just try to do my best for my club. Today, that work paid
off. These two games have gone, and we will relish that and then my work
with my club starts again. So, we won't have too long to reflect on these
games."

You're walking on water this year! Do you agree?

"Of course, it has been a great season so far. In England, I have been put
in the best conditions for me to be able to flourish on the pitch. I want to
pay tribute to my teammates, this squad and my supporters who show me a lot
of love."

View on the Visitors - Crystal Palace
WHUFC.com

Croydon Advertiser's Sports and Crystal Palace reporter Mark Ritson lifts
the lid on Saturday's opponents

Crystal Palace are still looking for their first League win of 2016, what's
behind the loss of form?

"No one quite knows. It's been a strange run since the start of the year,
but they have shown they can beat three Premier League sides on their way to
the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. They just need that bit of luck, but it
has been an unbalanced squad, too, with injuries to key players and no
momentum."

Saying that, an FA Cup semi-final to look forward to, how important is that
game?

"It's a massive game – and opportunity – to play at Wembley, reach the final
and win the competition. Some fans have suggested the run has papered huge
cracks under Alan Pardew who, I might add, is under no pressure from the
Palace board of directors despite thirteen 13 games without a league win.
Palace can definitely beat Watford and reach the final – and I think they
will."

Today sees two famously difficult teams to predict go head-to-head– what are
you expecting?

"Attacking, free-flowing football. On their day, Palace can spring an attack
with pace, power and trickery. But West Ham now have similar players in the
shape of Michail Antonio and Dimtri Payet.
"The latter is my player of the season, personally. The break may have come
at a good time for Palace, but they are facing a very, very good Hammers
side going for the top four. The Eagles really need to have a blinder of a
game to come away with something."

Which Palace players have been in good form lately, who should we look out
for?

"Wilfried Zaha has been sensational since January. I really think he would
offer England something different out wide at this summer's European
Championships. He takes players on; he's fearless and can create a chance
out of nothing. Scott Dann at the back is a big, big threat from set-pieces,
while Yohan Cabaye's control and possession in the middle of the park stands
out."

This is Palace's final game at the Boleyn – does any particular game or goal
stick out?

"Last season's 3-1 win for Palace was impressive at the Boleyn and I also
witnessed the 1-0 win two seasons ago. From that 3-1 win, Scott Dann's
thumping header from a corner stands out. And of course, there's the
Championship play-off final from 2004 which I am sure sticks out for the
majority of Palace fans, too."

What is your prediction for Saturday's score?

"Palace must pick up at least a point, but West Ham are high in confidence
and want a top four finish. It will be a tough game for the Eagles, but I'll
be brave and go for a 2-2 draw."

New Stadium progress report
WHUFc.com

It's all systems go over at the new Stadium on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park,
as the countdown to kick-off continues.

Back in December, whufc.com exclusively revealed a glimpse of the new claret
and blue detail around the Hammers' new concourse, complete with Bobby
Moore's iconic shirt.

On Wednesday, the construction team set about installing a prototype model
of the shirt, this one in honour of West Ham's all-time record appearance
holder, the legendary Billy Bonds.

The imposing shirt measures some four metres across and preparatory work is
to continue throughout Wednesday. It is then expected to be lifted into
place on Thursday, ahead of a comprehensive 48-hour window of testing.

As has been the Club's commitment to supporters from the very outset, West
Ham will honour its most famous names throughout the iconic arena, and Bonds
will be one of a handful of Hammers heroes to adorn a shirt on the
concourse.

Together with significant West Ham branding inside and out, the Hammers' new
Stadium will look and feel like the unmistakable home of West Ham United.

Elsewhere, the Club's brand new Ticket Office and Stadium Megastore are
rapidly beginning to take shape.

The former will boast a total of some 25 ticket windows, 20 of which are
stationed at the main Ticket Office – twice as many as the current Betway
Stand Ticket Office at the Boleyn Ground. The remaining five will be housed
in a secondary Ticket Office at the north of the Stadium.

Meanwhile, following the recent installation of the John Lyall Gates, the
Hammers' new retail space is also undergoing its West Ham transformation.

The new Stadium Store, which boasts a stylish Claret and Blue-themed coffee
house, is nearly three times the size of its Boleyn Ground equivalent and so
tens of thousands of supporters will enjoy significantly quicker service
every matchday.

Ferdinand - West Ham will always be in my heart
WHUFC.com

Rio Ferdinand insists West Ham United will always hold a special place in
his heart and he is looking forward to seeing the Hammers make their big
move into the new Stadium during the summer.

Ferdinand made an emotional return to east London this week as he made his
first appearance on the Boleyn Ground pitch for a number of years to
celebrate a memorable day for Mark Noble's Testimonial.

The former England star will never forget his progression through the Club's
Academy as a teenager and making his professional debut for the Hammers as a
17-year-old against Sheffield Wednesday.

Ferdinand went on to make 158 appearances during an impressive
four-year-spell and always keeps a close eye on how the Hammers are
performing.

With the Hammers preparing for a historic move at the end of the season, the
former Manchester United defender says he cannot wait to see how the Club
will perform when they play in the new 60,000 stadium next season.

Ferdinand said: "It was great to be back on the pitch again. This stadium
holds great memories for me and this club will always be in my heart. I
cannot wait to go to the new Stadium now.

"The Boleyn Ground is fantastic and I am an Academy product and it will
always be in my system.

"But you have to understand that time is moving on and you have to move with
those times."

Ferdinand was thrilled to play his part in a memorable day for Mark Noble
this week and says he deserves all the attention after being such an
important player for the Hammers over the last 12 years.

With Noble hoping to cap an impressive season by steering West Ham to the FA
Cup Final this season, Ferdinand will have mixed loyalties when his two
former clubs go head-to-head in the big quarter final replay at the Boleyn
Ground on April 13.

Ferdinand added: "It used to be quite simple before because Manchester
United were always going for trophies and I would always want them to win
when I got there.

"But now the two clubs are fighting for the same position so I will probably
have to sit on the fence a little bit!"

est Ham plot Wilfried Bony transfer swoop as Manchester City striker seeks
regular football

The Manchester City misfit is ready to leave the Etihad after becoming
frustrated at being second fiddle to Sergio Aguero and wants more regular
games
The Mirror

Wilfried Bony is on West Ham's transfer hit-list this summer. Manchester
City misfit Bony is ready to leave the Etihad after becoming frustrated at
being second fiddle to Sergio Aguero and wants more regular games. West Ham
boss Slaven Bilic is desperate to strengthen his strike force and Bony is on
their shortlist as potential signings. Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi is
their No1 target with Liverpool's Christian Benteke and Lyon's Alexandre
Lacazette also on their shortlist. West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan has
even admitted they would be interested in Zlatan Ibrahimovic. But they face
major competition for Batshuayi, Lacazette wants Champions League football
and Ibrahimovic seems destined for one of the top four clubs. That leaves
Bony as a serious alternative as West Ham also tried to sign him before he
moved to Swansea. The Ivory Coast star's move to City in January of last
year has not been a huge success while Benteke could also leave Liverpool
after admitting he would not have joined if he had known he would not be
first choice.

Serious doubt on Martinez deal as Neville is sacked
Posted by Sean Whetstone on March 30, 2016 in News, Whispers
C and H

Spanish radio station Taronja is reporting that a deal to sign Valencia
starlet Antonio Martinez is now agreed with West Ham. The news follows
similar reports from Spanish media yesterday. The reports suggested the
Hammers would pay an initial 1 million Euros which could rise to 3 million
Euros on certain performance factors . Martinez has starred in Valencia's
youth teams for the past few years, scoring over 100 goals in four seasons,
but it is said he has grown tired over his lack of first-team opportunities.

In the same hour, Valencia have announced they have sacked their manager,
Gary Neville. The former Manchester United and England defender Gary has
been given the boot after less than four months in charge of the Spanish
club. Valencia has won just three of their 16 league games under the former
television pundit, and 10 of 28 games overall.

However the news of Marinez will become a Hammer is now in serious doubt
this afternoon after the West Ham chairman's son David Sullivan junior
tweeted "Contrary to reports we have not signed or bided for Martinez at
Valencia" after earlier posting "What's all this about Toni Martinez ? First
I've heard of it ? I'll ask dad in a minute"

Kouyate a Palace doubt

Cheik Kouyate appears to be a major doubt for the weekend match against
Palace. The all-action midfielder missed Senegal's 2-1 win over Niger last
night with reports claiming he had bronchitis and a slight fever. It will be
a blow to the Hammers, but should he miss the squad depth is such that it
will cope presumably through Pedro Obiang being drafted in alongside Mark
Noble. However, there's an outside chance Cheik could make it and will be
assessed by the medical staff when he returns to the club The manager could
give us a big clue to Alex Song's future should the Barcelona loanee be
absent from the team again with the current thinking being that he will be
returning to the Catalan giants at the end of the season. James Tomkins
looks likely to take over in the the right back spot with Michail Antonio
returning to his right sided attacking role.

Dimitri Payet was excellent as France won their friendlies with Holland and

Dimitri Payet performed well in France's friendlies with Holland and Russia
West Ham star curled home a brilliant 37-yard free-kick on Tuesday night
It followed a dynamic performance in 3-2 win over Dutch in Amsterdam
Didier Deschamps can no longer ignore Payet's Euro 2016 claim
By ADAM SHERGOLD FOR MAILONLINE
PUBLISHED: 14:05, 30 March 2016 | UPDATED: 14:32, 30 March 2016

West Ham fans have been singing about him all season. 'We've got Payet,
Dimitri Payet!' begins the oft-heard refrain at the Boleyn Ground. 'I just
don't think you understand. He's Super Slaven's man, he's better than
Zidane. We've got Dimitri Payet!' Payet might have to go some to become
better than the great Zizou, but after this week, there's no question that
France manager Didier Deschamps now understands his natural class and
limitless potential. It had been a long wait for the playmaker, who had last
pulled the blue of his country during a pretty miserable 1-0 friendly loss
to Albania in June last year. But following a sensational debut season in
the Premier League with the Hammers, Deschamps just couldn't ignore the
former Marseille man any more. After nine months and six matches away, Payet
was clearly determined to make up for lost time and two outstanding
performances against Holland and Russia this week have propelled him back
into the reckoning. Payet basically was given two auditions by Deschamps for
France's squad for their home European Championship this summer - and he
passed with flying colours. Even given the ridiculous depth of talent in the
French squad, surely Deschamps can no longer ignore his claim for a place in
the 23.

Against Holland in Amsterdam on Friday night, Payet caused endless problems
with his rapid and direct running at the Dutch defence, playing an integral
role in a 3-2 win. And if that wasn't enough of a statement, Payet produced
something truly spectacular in Paris on Tuesday evening. When France won a
free-kick 37 yards from goal, there wasn't even a second thought in Payet's
mind. Striking wickedly swerving shot clocked at 63mph, the ball crashed
into the net 1.2 seconds later. It was almost a carbon copy of the pearler
that beat David de Gea in West Ham's FA Cup draw with Manchester United
earlier this month. On his 29th birthday, Payet proved once and for all that
he is deserving of a place in the France team. The free-kick surely
confirmed his place in the Euro 2016 squad. Having put forward a strong case
for inclusion, Payet said: 'Its up for the coach to judge. I have tried, as
I do in every game, to contribute something. 'It was a positive performance,
I am pleased with it.' And Deschamps is paying attention. After the win
against Holland, the national coach said: 'He is confirming his good form. I
will need him.' That 'good form' has produced 11 goals and 11 assists for
his club this season, the X-Factor in a West Ham side unexpectedly
challenging for a Champions League place in the season's final stretch. And
having proven he can do it in the Premier League, surely Payet will now be
granted the opportunity to show his myriad qualities at a major tournament.

Paolo's emotional return
WHUFC.com

Paolo Di Canio admits it was an honour for him to come back for Mark Noble's Testimonial and hopes the talented midfielder can play another 400 games for West Ham United. Di Canio was one of a number of former heroes who returned to the Boleyn Ground to pay tribute to Noble who has spent 12 years with the east London Club and made over 350 appearances. The Italian forward has a special love affair with the West Ham supporters and received a hero's welcome as he made his final appearance on the famous Boleyn Ground pitch. Di Canio has nothing but admiration for the way Noble has stayed loyal to the Hammers and feels he can achieve even bigger things under Slaven Bilic over the next few years. Di Canio: "If you can call anyone a legend then he is the one. He has dedicated so much to the club and it is obvious that it has been an honour and a privilege for him to play for West Ham. "I am happy that he called me to participate in this big day and I hope he can keep going and play another 400 games for this club and pick up some trophies. "We are all sad that we are leaving this monument (the Boleyn Ground) but the Club moves on and it will give a different dimension to help them win something more often. "If you support West Ham you need to have a strong heart but this is the time that this Club starts to win things more often and the fans can enjoy it more. "I am sure with Bilic and his methodology that they can achieve something special. It is the perfect combination. "We have got to take it step-by-step. We have got one game to reach Wembley and then we have two games to do something special for everyone, including myself. We are waiting for this."

Di Canio has nothing but praise for the West Ham supporters and feels part of the family when he makes a return to east London. The Hammers legend enjoyed four memorable years at the Boleyn Ground where he enjoyed so many magical moments. Di Canio insists he will always have a special bond with the Hammers fans and will never forget his spell at West Ham. Di Canio added: "It is obvious that I feel at home when I come back here. I live in Italy but I miss them every day and this is a special occasion when all the fans are here. "They still make me feel welcome with their warmth and attitude. That is special for me, even if it is just a friendly game. They sing my name and they do it because they believe in it. "I gave my all for this club, my soul and heart, but what I get back is much bigger. It is sometimes too much for me! "But I thank them because the relationship is still very strong and I am part of this family."

Boleyn Insider

The Boleyn Insider brings you exclusive insight into the behind-the-scenes goings on at the Boleyn Ground.

There has been continued speculation in recent weeks regarding the Club's search for a new striker as West Ham prepare to make their historic move into the new Stadium during the summer. With the prospect of European football next season a distinct possibility, Slaven Bilic and the Board are aiming high as they look to bring in even more quality signings so they can challenge once again at the top of the table. Fresh reports in the last 24 hours have suggested the Hammers are close to making a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic. My understanding is that the Club have explored the option of signing the former Milan and Barcelona striker, but there is zero chance of a deal happening.
I have been told that the Board admire him as a player, but his contract would be out of all proportion to the wages earned by anybody at the Club or any player in the Premier League. There has been a lot of speculation linking the Hammers with moves for Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi and Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette. My sources have told me that they are just two of a dozen potential strikers that the Board are looking at and the list will be reduced to two or three names by the end of the season. Once the transfer window re-opens they will be ready to make their move for the striker they want.

WHUFC.com

Birthday boy Dimitri Payet put his successful return to international duty down to his 'fairy tale' first season with West Ham United.

The outstanding playmaker, who turned 29 on Tuesday, made his first France appearance in nine months in Friday's 3-2 friendly win in the Netherlands, where he was involved in two goals.

Payet told the French Football Federation website that his fine performance were the result of how much he is enjoying his football at the Hammers.

Now, he is hoping that his consistently superb displays will translate into a place in Didier Deschamps' final 23-man squad for Euro 2016, which will be played in his homeland this summer.

"It's true that I'm in the best period of my career," said the No27. "I'm living out a fairy tale with my Club and if that could translate itself into selection [for Euro 2016] that would be marvellous. I'm going to work to ensure that my best years are still ahead of me."

Aside from feeling comfortable in a Claret and Blue shirt, Payet also said he returned to France duty with a new, more relaxed approach to both his life and his football.

With eleven goals and ten assists to his name for his Club, the Reunion-born star readily admits he is in the form of his life.

On Good Friday, his new approach was rewarded with an eye-catching 90 minutes against the Dutch, and Payet will be looking to mark his birthday with another top performance against Russia at the Stade de France - as he has done for West Ham all season.

"I was already happy to return to [the French national training centre] Clairefontaine, after a long period of absence," explained Payet, who has two goals in 16 caps for Les Bleus. "I've had a good week and trained well. And I don't think it went too badly in terms of the [Netherlands] match.

"It's one of my most successful [performances for France]. Where it's particularly satisfying is to have had the same variety in the game, the same effectiveness as with my Club. I began this meet with no pressure and it's been rather successful."

France host Russia in Paris on Tuesday evening at 8pm BST, before taking on Romania, Albania and Switzerland on home turf at Euro 2016.

West Ham want to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic from PSG, says David Sullivan

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has revealed the club want to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The Sweden international has confirmed he will leave France when his contract expires at the end of the season and that there has been interest in him from the Premier League. Ibrahimovic has never played in England before and Sullivan hopes to tempt him to West Ham on a free transfer, although he revealed the club is considering making offers for players already in the Premier League. "We have a list of strikers all over Europe and most of our money will go into signing a striker," Sullivan told talkSPORT. "That is the plan for next season. "I'd love Ibrahimovic from PSG but whether he'd come to us I don't know. I know he's 34 and he's a fantastic player. "There are a number of top Premier League players we may be bidding for, top goalscorers, but I can't name them. I can't comment on players from other teams. "The squad we have at West Ham now is the best we've had in six years, by a long, long way. We will be adding to that squad in the summer and hopefully we'll be a bit better next year."

Happy West Ham United's Dimitri Payet was treated to a special birthday surprise this lunchtime as he and his team mates prepare for the visit of Russia. The French are scheduled to play in Paris tonight for the first time since terrorist attacks disrupted their last home fixture against Germany back in November. And the sombre mood was briefly lifted when West Ham's Payet and fellow French international, Leicester's N'Golo Kante, were presented with a dual birthday cake ahead of tonight's friendly with Russia.

For Payet, it will be his second appearance for the French national team since returning to the fold having previously fallen out with national team coach Didier Deschamps. West Ham's #27 featured heavily in France's 3-2 win against the Netherlands in Amsterdam last Friday night, playing a part in the winning goal and hitting the post earlier on.

West Ham's board will await Slaven Bilic's summer shopping list before making any moves into the transfer mrket. Despite admitting having a list of around a dozen possible striker targets the manager is expected to soon supply his priority list. David Sullivan has admitted he like Zlatan Ibrahimovac in a talkSport interview and Christian Benteke is known to be another player the chairman admires. But it's not until Slaven gives the word that any meaningful moves will be made as has always been the case with the club's managers. Discussing the various names that have been thrown into the ring last night co chairman David Gold said: " There is no problem discussing the various names but it's all about Slaven and what he decides. We are still waiting to see his priority list. "The board will await that and take things from there as has always been the case. There is no rush and we will see what Slaven requires and go from there. "The manager is obviously the key person in this process."

Former Hammer Taylor Tombides has paid a moving tribute to his late brother Dylan after scoring a deft chip during West Ham All Stars' 5-6 defeat to West Ham XI in Mark Noble's testimonial match on Easter Monday. His act bought a lump to the throat to the 35,000 capacity crowd as well as the hundreds of thousands watching live on TV. Dylan Tombides, tragically died at age 20 from testicular cancer in 2014 while still a West Ham player. In his memory, younger brother Taylor pointed to the sky after he scored the All Stars' fifth goal five minutes before the end of the match. The DT38 Foundatio is one of West Ham's official charities and directly benefited from the testimonial yesterday. Dylan's considerable legacy is now to be channelled through DT38, a new Foundation which is setting out to provide testicular cancer support and awareness through education and opportunity. DT38 becomes the Club's second official charity for the 2014/15 campaign, alongside the West Ham United Moore Family Foundation. With the overall goal of changing the way in which testicular cancer is diagnosed, DT38 is starting out with the following four primary objectives:

To fundraise for chosen charities that deliver services linked to DT38 Foundation's overall vision.
To drive the awareness campaign for the prevention of testicular cancer
To focus on the education of youngsters through sports and school communities
To provide opportunities linked to 38 fun and accessible activities within football and the West Ham community

Total Corporate Capacity equates to 3,560 which generates a total income of around £11.9m per season or £35.71m of revenue over the three-year commitment.

West Ham close in on £2.4m deal for Toni Martinez as club holds talks with Valencia
Valencia want a buy-back option for their young striker Toni Martinez

West Ham are in talks with Valencia over a £2.4million deal for youngster Toni Martinez. Valencia want a buy-back option for the forward who has figured for their second string and UEFA Youth League side this season. The 18-year-old, who can play on the left or as a centre forward, has made eight appearances in UEFA Youth League, making three assists and scoring one goal.
He was in the Valencia side that lost to Chelsea controversially on penalties last month. Martinez, who has been capped by Spain at Under 19 level, is understood to have already chosen the move to London and said farewell to his team-mates, though finer details are still to be agreed. Martinez, who turns 19 in June, has scored over 100 goals in the last four seasons for Valencia's youth teams.

Hammers Recruiting Early From La Liga
Submitted by nevillenixon on Tue, 29/03/2016 - 12:37
WestHamFans.org

According to Spain based Radio Taronja and a whole stack of media outlets, West Ham United have agreed a deal to sign Valencia youngster Toni Martinez this summer, the 18-year-old will reportedly move to East London for a fee between £1.9 million and £2.3 million with Valencia insisting on a comprehensive first option buy back clause and a sell on fee believed to be as much as 25% should they decide not to exercise the buy back. Martinez is a centre forward who is yet to make his debut for Valencia's first-team, featuring nine times for their second string side to date, he has been a prolific scorer at youth level and is seen as 'one for the future'. A slight word of caution, Freddie Sears scored goals for fun at youth level but came up short when it came to making the progression to the full team, he ended up having to drop down several levels before finally working his way back up to a promising career at Ipswich Town in the Championship. At around £ 2.5 Million Martinez appears to be worth a punt, and given West Ham's recent track record of finding bargains in the transfer market is a move that could only happen if sanctioned by the canny Davids Sullivan and Gold. All the current media coverage about West Ham, most of it positive, has raised the club's profile and with that comes the possibility of 'big hitters' arriving at the Boleyn, but while all the talk of sinking most of the transfer budget available into one expensive 20 goal a season striker might seem confirmation of West Ham's financial muscle and a rise to within touching distance of the Barclay's Premier League's higher echelons, it might strike fear in to supporters with long memories who remember only to painfully the fanfare that surrounded the arrival of great players who were never actually able to deliver as a result of injury and bad luck, to name a few Stuart Robson, Julien Faubert, Don Huchison, and not forgetting Dean Ashton, who showed in a cameo during Mark Noble's testimonial just how great he could have been.
If a big money striker is signed this summer, would it then herald the departure of Andy Carroll? Perhaps Slaven Billic sees the big man as his impact sub, £80,000 per week is a lot of money to pay for a part time performer, but today's ridiculously inflated football salaries make that wage look a bit of a bargain, it may be hard to take in, but this is the 'new way' and it appears the powers that be at West Ham have taken the reality of the new way on board and are determine not to be caught out by using old logic too much, of course that doesn't mean they will go hell for leather with this summer's budget, but they won't be afraid to put their hands in their pockets either. - Ed

Exclusive: West Ham set for £1billion income as Olympic Stadium move begins to pay off
BOOMING West Ham are on course for a gold rush that is set to be worth at least £1billion.
By COLIN MAFHAM
PUBLISHED: 09:30, Sun, Mar 27, 2016 | UPDATED: 10:39, Sun, Mar 27, 2016

West Ham could yet start their first season in the Olympic Stadium with Champions League football. The £200million a season they expect to make after moving into the Olympic Stadium next season will buy them a seat alongside the biggest and richest clubs in the world. And barring unforeseen disasters - and bumper transfer payouts - they are likely to have that £1billion to play with by 2021. Although at least £30million is already earmarked for a new striker in the summer, West Ham are just five months away from jumping aboard a gravy train that will transform their fortunes in one fell swoop. Full details of the deal with the London Legacy Development Corporation have yet to be revealed, but the benefits to the Hammers are certain to dwarf the basic £15million a season rent they have agreed to pay to play at the new stadium for the next 99 years. That includes almost £100million they are guaranteed from the season's TV payout to each Premier League club. As every home match now looks like being sold out there will also be at least another £54million to be banked over the season. All that comes on top of the £20million Galliard and Barratt Homes have paid for the right to build 700 apartments on the sight of the old Boleyn Ground. Meanwhile, worldwide marketing plans and stadium spin-off commercial ventures will propel the Hammers into a market previously dominated by giants like Manchester United and City and Real Madrid and Barcelona. There will be another £2million plus if they go on to win the FA Cup in May. Even though the Hammers will have to pay extra if they finish in the top 10 of the Premier League and qualify for Europe the fact that they will be excused heating and lighting costs as well as wages for turnstile operators and cleaners also increases the club's potential profits. West Ham's windfall has, however, spared the LLDC and the Government the embarrassment of having an expensive white elephant on their hands. It is costing an incredible £272million to make the stadium - the largest of its kind in the world - fit for football, £40million of which is being provided by the local Newham Council, with another £25million from the Government and £15million from West Ham. UK Athletics, who were supposed to be the major beneficiaries of the stadium, have chipped in with a modest £1million. All of which made West Ham vice chairman Karren Brady a very happy lady when she announced plans for 6,000 more season tickets last week. She said: "Next season looks bright for the team, the club and our fans. "We will have one of the world's greatest new stadiums which will have the quality and capacity to match our ambitions."

Andy Carroll and his West Ham team-mates are targeting a Champions League spot for next season. The Hammers currently occupy fifth place in the Premier League and are just one point behind Manchester United with eight games remaining in the season. West Ham's unexpected rise has came thanks to a rich vein of form with the likes of Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini helping fire Slaven Bilic's side towards a spot among the European elite for next season. And Carroll admits he and his team-mates are determined to claim a top-four spot ahead of their move to the Olympic Stadium next season. "We all want a top-four spot," he told the Daily Mirror. "We'll have to concentrate game-by-game and see how it goes. I'm really looking forward to it, keeping myself fit. "The team are doing very well right now," Carroll added. The 27-year-old has endured yet another injury-hit season at West Ham, making just seven starts this season.
However, he will be hoping he can keep himself fit for the run-in, which sees the Hammers host Crystal Palace following the international break before crucial tests against Arsenal, Manchester United and Leicester.

WHUFC.com

Mark Noble Testimonial

Mark Noble enjoyed one of the greatest days of his career as a sell-out crowd saw West Ham United beat a West Ham All-Star squad 6-5 in a thrilling Testmonial match at the Boleyn Ground. It was an occasion to remember for Noble and his family as he celebrated an unforgettable career at the Hammers dating back 12 years – with all the proceeds being split between charities DT38 Foundation, Richard House Children's Hospice and Help for Heroes. The 35,036 fans who turned out to honour their Canning Town-born hero were treated to eleven goals, including a sensational overhead kick from Dean Ashton and strikes from Noble himself, Paolo Di Canio and even goalkeeper Adrian! The All-Stars opened the scoring on 13 minutes when Jack Collison played the ball into Craig Bellamy and he fired a clinical finish high into the net. Noble, who had been denied by David James just moments before, got his name on the scoresheet on 25 minutes when he weaved his way into the penalty area tucked home. One of the most amusing parts of an entertaining afternoon soon followed on 27 minutes when Adrian ran the length of the field – aided by a team of blockers – and fired the ball past a helpful James. The No13 was mobbed by his team-mates and the members of the All-Stars on a day when smiles were more important than victories.

West Ham made it three on 36 minutes when Manuel Lanzini played Alex Song through on goal and he made no mistake with a rare goal. Noble could have added his second of the game on 40 minutes when a great West Ham move ended with the skipper curling against the base of the post. The captain turned provider on 43 minutes as he raced to the byline and cut the ball across for Diafra Sakho to score from six yards.

The All-Stars pulled a goal back on 47 minutes when Marlon Harewood burst clear down the right and crossed in for Ashton. The forward was denied by Raphael Spiegel – who also made fine saves from Bellamy and Ashton – but Teddy Sheringham followed up to score. West Ham made it five when Marcus Browne's cross fell to Sakho and he fired the ball past Walker. The scorer then pulled a mobile phone out of his shorts and entertained the crowd by taking a selfie with Browne, Song and goalkeeper Jimmy Walker!

After the unfortunate Harewood was denied by an offside flag, the goal of the day arrived on 75 minutes as Ian Bishop played the ball in for Ashton to launch himself into the air and arrow a scissor-kick into the bottom left-hand corner of Spiegel's net. The England man added a second from Kevin Keen's cross a minute later to make it 5-4, before Di Canio made the crowd even happier by racing past Chris Powell and beating Walker with a low shot. As time ran out, substitute Taylor Tombides paid the ultimate tribute to his older brother Dylan when he also got on the scoresheet with a clever chip over the goalkeeper.

The game then finished with a penalty shoot-out, which ebbed and flowed before finishing deadlocked at 7-7. Highlights included Adrian blasting his spot-kick high into the stand after ripping off his gloves, Ludek Miklosko saving from Di Canio and Noble's old friend Robert Hatton saving no fewer than three penalties! All in all, it was a fantastic day to be part of the West Ham family, and surely one that Noble and his family will never forget.

West Ham United: Adrian (Spiegel 29, Hatton 76), O'Brien, Tomkins (Pike 46), Reid (A Ferdinand 65, Dobson 85), Cresswell (Dobson 58, Collins 81), Song (Short 76), Obiang (Noble 65), Noble (Browne 46), Lanzini (Di Canio 65), Antonio (Sinclair 65), Emenike (Sakho 22, Diangana 58, Carroll 81)

Noble - It couldn't have gone any better
WHUFC.com

Mark Noble paid a heartfelt thanks to supporters and players alike after his emotional Testimonial at the Boleyn Ground on Monday saw a West Ham XI beat West Ham's All-Stars 6-5. The Hammers' long-serving midfielder said the day had gone exactly as he had dreamt it, with a long list of legendary West Ham names treating a full house to an unforgettable afternoon. And while Dean Ashton's stunning scissor kick will live long in the memory, Noble was simply overwhelmed by the show of support from all quarters. He told West Ham TV: "I managed to keep myself together, especially when I walked out with the kids, it was amazing. "To be honest there are no words to describe how thankful I am of the fans. I know there were a lot of travel issues, the weather, everything seemed to try and get in the way, but the weather turned out perfect and I think you can tell the lads had a great time. "The response I've had [from players] has been phenomenal. To be honest I don't really know how to thank them. The only way I can thank them is by going to win the FA Cup, which would be nice. It's been a great day for everyone. I'm going to sleep well tonight!"

And what of the loyal Claret and Blue faithful, who turned out in force for Mr West Ham himself and were treated to an Ashton spectacular, not to mention a solo effort from a certain Paolo Di Canio. "They're the best, for sure," he said. "36,000 for a Testimonial, it couldn't have gone any better. "Ashton scored one similar against United, but just the players we've had here, the goals they've scored, the penalties at the end. It's the exact day I wanted, just a laugh with the crowd, a bit of fun, a day for them as well to say thank you for the support they've given us all over the years. "There's been a lot, a lot of work that's gone into this, a lot of hard work, a lot of help from friends and family and especially the people at the Club. I can't thank every one of them individually but if I could, I would."

Ashton revels in special goal
WHUFC.com

Having marked his return to the Boleyn Ground with arguably his best goal in a West Ham shirt, striker Dean Ashton described his delight at being able to mark such a special occasion with just as special a strike. The former England international reeled back the years with a sumptuous overhead kick from John Bishop's floated cross. Just minutes later, Ashton netted his second of the game to cap off a memorable day at the Boleyn Ground to celebrate Mark Noble's testimonial. Speaking to WHTV after the game, Ashton said: "It was like I was 23 years old again, I don't know what I was doing! To be able to play here again, in front of a full stadium and be able to score a goal like that means so much to me. "Now that we're leaving; if that's my last ever goal at Upton Park, what a goal to finish on. "It was just one of those instincts. John Bishop dinked a lovely little ball over and it was pure instinct really, I've done that in the past, now the only problem is how much that'll hurt tomorrow!
"Today's goal was up there with the scissor kick at Old Trafford, obviously a different occasion but in some ways just as special."

While the former Hammer had every right to be proud of his outstanding effort, Ashton continued to describe how happy he was for his former teammate Mark Noble. He continued: "It was an absolutely amazing turnout, and you know what, Nobes deserves it after all he's done for the club.
"Not only he is a fantastic football player but he's given a hell of a lot to the club, and he's a top bloke. I don't know anyone who doesn't get on with him. The thing that he shows most is his passion and that is what this club is all about. He's shown that in abundance as well as a touch of class."

Alongside Ashton, there was plenty of familiar faces, both old and new who made a triumphant return, including the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Paolo Di Canio and Ludo Miklosko, as well as many, many more. Reflecting on the special event, in the midst of special events to mark the final season at the Boleyn Ground, Ashton reflected: "Everyone wanted to come back today, to have that one last chance to play here at Upton Park, in front of a full house was just amazing. "There was some serious players out there today, Di Canio, Ferdinand and others, there was a lot! To see Nobes climb those stairs at Wembley would absolutely be the best send off for West Ham possible and I really hope it happens. "That last game is really going to be unbelievable. Any games under the lights here is, but the last one ever, I'm sure there's going to be plenty of tears, that's for sure."

Noble thanks fans for 'fantastic' day

Mark Noble has thanked the 35,000 supporters who defied travel problems to attend his testimonial this afternoon. A Noble-led West Ham squad beat an All Stars XI 6-5 in a thrilling affair at the Boleyn Ground before going on to draw a penalty shoot-out 7-7 in front of a full house in Upton Park. And the midfielder was hugely grateful to the fans who turned up, thousands of whom had longer journeys than usual due to problems with the Tube. "It was fantastic. The weather, everything just turned out perfectly today and I'm overwhelmed by it," Noble told BT Sport. "Some of the goals that were scored were great and it was a great day for everyone. Some of the boys haven't played here for a long time and you can tell they thoroughly enjoyed it! "I was sitting indoors over the weekend and it was a bit strange as there was no football on. With the weather, the trains and everything else to get 35,000 here was just unbelievable and I'm just grateful to everyone who came."

Thoroughly enjoyed that today. A big thank you to @Noble16Mark for inviting me down to celebrate with the Hammers Family. Lifted my spirits!

One of the goals of the day was scored by Taylor Tombides, the brother of Dylan who passed away from cancer in 2014. The DT38 Foundation, which was founded in Dylan's honour was one of three charities to benefit from the proceeds of today's game (along with Help for Heroes and Richard House Children's Hospice) and Noble admitted that he was delighted when Taylor found the net late on in the match.

"It couldn't have gone any better, Taylor going one-on-one and chipping the goalie like he did," he said. "I think everyone stood up on their feet and applauded. It means a lot to him and his family and that's why I chose the DT38 Foundation as one of the causes."

Here it is! Dean Ashton's unbelievable overhead kick from Mark Noble's testimonial. 👊 #MN16 #WHUFC https://t.co/oOvwrAktZr

The best goal of the day was an overhead kick by Noble's former team mate Dean Ashton, who was forced to retire from the game in 2009 after a long battle against injury, And the fact that the former England international had added a little 'timber' since his days as a pro didn't go unnoticed by Noble. "I don't think the groundsman is going to be happy as there's a big dent in the floor!" he quipped.

The sun and the stars came out for Mark Noble's testimonial at the Boleyn Ground this afternoon. Noble, who is celebrating ten years as a pro led his side, consisting mostly of current players to a thrilling 6-5 win over an All Stars team that included the likes of Paolo Di Canio and Dean Ashton at the Boleyn Ground this afternoon. And there was plenty of entertainment on offer for the fans who filled the Boleyn Ground, despite the travel issues that led to longer journeys than normal for many travelling from Essex.
Noble, Paolo Di Canio and most notably Dean Ashton - who scored with an overhead kick in front of the Trevor Brooking Stand - all registered on the score sheet as the goals flowed. And despite ending up on the losing side after 90 minutes, the All Stars - for whom Craig Bellamy, Teddy Sheringham and Taylor Tombides also scored - were still able to celebrate some success as they went on to draw the ensuing penalty shoot out 7-7.

Goals
West Ham Utd: Noble, Adrian, Song, Sakho (2), Di Canio).
West Ham All Stars: Bellamy, Sheringham, Ashton (2), Tombides.

Penalties
West Ham Utd (7/11): Noble - Miklosko; Song - Miklosko (saved); Antonio - Walker; Di Canio - Miklosko; Sinclair - Miklosko; Reid - Miklosko; Cresswell - Walker (missed); Short - James (missed); Taylor - Miklosko; Browne - Walker; Adrian - Walker ( missed).

West Ham All Stars (7/11): Ashton - Adrian; Harewood - Rob Hatton (saved); Blewitt - Adrian; Tombides - Hatton (saved); Upson - Adrian; Dailly - Hatton; Powell - Adrian; Cohen - Hatton (saved); Sears - Adrian (saved); Bowyer - Hatton; Walker - Miklosko.

West Ham captain Mark Noble scores in testimonial match

Mark Noble scored to help a West Ham XI claim an entertaining 6-5 victory over a West Ham All-Stars team in his testimonial match at a sold-out Boleyn Ground. The West Ham captain, accompanied by his two children, was met by a guard of honour as he made his way out onto the pitch in the last ever testimonial match to be played at the Boleyn Ground before the club's move to the Olympic Stadium. Noble, a product of the famous West Ham academy, has made over 350 appearances for the club since making his senior debut in 2004 and was given a standing ovation by the 35,000-strong Hammers faithful and a further guard of honour by both sets of players at the final whistle. The All-Stars side, that included former Hammers David James, Rio Ferdinand, Paolo Di Canio and Trevor Sinclair, took the lead in the 13th minute when Craig Bellamy fired past Adrian from just inside the penalty area. Noble, having earlier been denied by a fine save from James, capped his day off with a goal, levelling up the scores in the 25th minute after exchanging passes with Diafra Sakho.

West Ham goalkeeper Adrian then gave his side the lead in the 27th minute after being allowed to dribble the ball the length of the field, with the protection of Michail Antonio, before finishing past James. Alex Song added a third in the 36th minute before Sakho got his name on the scoresheet, tapping home a Noble cross from close range a minute before half-time. Noble made way at the break as both sides rung the changes, with the All-Stars fielding a completely different XI for the second-half. Teddy Sheringham reduced the deficit for the All-Stars shortly after the interval, but Sakho restored West Ham's three goal advantage and celebrated by taking a selfie with his team-mates and All-Stars goalkeeper Jimmy Walker.

Noble returned to the field in the 70th minute, replacing Joey O'Brien, and was quick to congratulate Dean Ashton just moments later after the All-Stars forward scored a sensational scissor kick to make it 5-3. Ashton grabbed his second of the match in the 76th minute before Di Canio, playing for the West Ham XI in the second-half, made it 6-4 two minutes later, steering his shot beyond Walker much to the delight of the Boleyn Ground faithful. Taylor Tombides, the brother of the late West Ham forward Dylan, scored the final goal of the match in the 86th minute and his strike received a standing ovation from the Hammers supporters.

Despite the scoreline, the sides then took part in a penalty shoot-out with Noble tucking his spot-kick beyond Walker. After 22 spot-kicks and with the sides locked at 7-7, referee Andre Marriner called time on the match, although the scoreline mattered little as the West Ham fans once again showed their appreciation for their long-serving midfielder at the final whistle.

England selection unfair to likes of West Ham duo Mark Noble and Aaron Cresswell says Matt Le Tissier
22:30, 28 MAR 2016 UPDATED 22:45, 28 MAR 2016
BY MIKE WALTERS
Southampton legend annoyed that players who aren't first-team regulars at top clubs get the nod at the expense of men doing it week in, week out elsewhere
The Mirror

Matt Le Tissier claims West Ham duo Mark Noble and Aaron Cresswell are victims of Roy Hodgson's favouritism towards 'big' clubs. England coach Hodgson was curiously dismissive of Noble's international claims last week. But Le Tissier – no stranger to being overlooked himself when international caps were being handed out in the 1990s – believes midfielder Noble's lack of reward for a decade of consistency at Upton Park has been "unfair."
Criticism of Hodgson may be out of kilter with England's stunning fightback in Berlin at the weekend, but his line-up against Holland on Tuesday is likely to include players who are not even current first-choice picks at their clubs. And Le Tissier said: "History tells you that if you are playing for a big club, you've got much more chance of being in an England squad. In all fairness to Roy, that's not a criticism you can level just at him. "I can understand Roy being loyal to his players, but you can be sat on the bench at a big club every week and get in before someone who is playing every week at a so-called lesser team, and I think that's something that needs to be addressed. "It's not just frustrating if you're a player tyring to force your way in – I find it frustrating as a fan when it seems unfair. One of my big bugbears in life is unfairness and sometimes you look at it and think, 'Come on – that can't be right.' "Just because certain players are earning more money at a bigger club doesn't necessarily make them better footballers than another guy who's playing well every week in the same position. "Everyone should be judged on what they produce every Saturday, and if a guy's not playing every week, how can you judge him? "You can't accurately measure his form if he's only coming on for 15 or 20 minutes, when other players might be tiring. It's not a real form guide. "One player who has impressed me every time I've watched him this season is Aaron Cresswell at West Ham. "For me, we have missed an opportunity to have a look at another left-back and Cresswell has performed well for West Ham. Danny Rose has done well for Tottenham but he doesn't play every week and it's harsh that Cresswell has missed out again."And we seem to have been talking about Mark Noble getting an international call-up for a long time now. "You look at some of the midfielders who have played for England over the last few years and think. 'Blimey, how has he won a cap and yet Noble, who has been so consistent over a long period of time, has got no caps whatsoever?' "That's an example of the unfairness I was talking about earlier. You wonder, 'How does that work, then?' "It would be nice to get an answer from somebody to explain why Danny Drinkwater, who has been fantastic for Leicester, gets a deserved call-up after one good season in the Premier League, and yet Noble – who's been doing it for a long time and is also having a very good season – still can't get a look-in. "I would love to know the answers, which we never seem to get out of anybody."

West Ham would 'love to sign' Zlatan Ibrahimovic, admits co-owner David Sullivan

The Swede has revealed he has offers from the Premier League with West Ham set to make a big-name striker their summer priority
The Mirror

Sweden's forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic attends a training session on the eve of the friendly football match between Sweden and Czech Republic Ibrahimovic has revealed he has offers from the Premier League West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has revealed the club are interested in signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer. The Swedish striker's deal with PSG expires at the end of the season and he is expected to depart the French capital. He has claimed he has received offers from the Premier League with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all linked with a move. And Sullivan insists West Ham will make a play for his signature with Ibrahimovic leading a detailed striker shortlist. "We have a list of about ten strikers all over Europe, and most of our money will go into signing a striker," he told talkSPORT. "That is the plan for next season. I'd love Ibrahimovic from PSG, but whether he'd come to us I don't know. "I know he's 34 but he's a fantastic player." Sullivan added: "There are a number of top Premier League players we may be bidding for, top goalscorers, but I can't name them. I can't comment on players from other teams. "The squad we have at West Ham now is the best we've had in six years, by a long, long way. We will be adding to that squad in the summer and hopefully we'll be a bit better next year."
Sullivan's comments came after Ibrahimovic admitted he was considering offers from England. "Yes, there is interest from the Premier League, I can confirm that," he said. "The Premier League is the league in the world all people and fans speak about. "A lot of things have to feel fine when I'm going to take a decision this summer."

7 reasons West Ham legend Mark Noble's testimonial was the greatest testimonial that ever happened
16:33, 28 MAR 2016 UPDATED 17:39, 28 MAR 2016
BY JIM DALY
The Hammers stalwart celebrated 12 years at the club with an action packed game where quite literally everything happened
The Mirror

Not many players get a testimonial, but when they do they are often loads of fun . And when West Ham stalwart Mark Noble celebrated his 12 years a the club with a game against an All-star selection quite literally everything happened. The midfielder has racked up 352 appearances for West Ham and celebrated with a game between his current Hammers teammates and a bunch of the East End club's All-stars. The likes of David James, Scott Parker, Teddy Sheringham, Trevor Sinclair, Dean Ashton, Craig Bellamy, Paolo Di Canio, Carlton Cole, Rio Ferdinand and Michael Carrick all took part. And in the end the match - shown live on BT Sport - had EVERYTHING. Which is why it was probably the best ever testimonial that's ever happened. Her are 7 reasons that's the case:

7. Rio allowing Noble to score

In the true spirit of the day Rio Ferdinand literally stepped out the way to allow Noble to score early on.

6. Adrian runs the full length of the pitch to score
Yep. Really.

5. Dean Ashton scores an overhead
Remember him?

4. Sakho celebrated with a selfie
Including the keeper he's literally just scored against

3. The match went to penalties
Even though it actually ended 6-5 to the West Ham first team and they tried SO HARD to allow Marlon Harewood to equalise but he kept missing.
And during that shootout there were plenty of hilarious misses (including from Harewood, obvs)

2. Tombides' goal
Young Taylor Tombides scored a lovely dinked effort and paid tribute to his late brother Dylan.

1. And yet after all this, STILL no-one wants Noble in the England squad

Thanks Mark but this moment topped all

It was an afternoon of pure joy …a Family Affair and wherever we watched it we were all involved in a wonderful party for a fabulous bloke. Dean Ashton almost stole the day and his incredible overhead goal is already trending on Twitter, PDC scored, Mark grabbed his own and pantomime villain David James played the crowd to the hilt whilst, Adrian 'beat' player after player to score ! All of these and many more events on a fun filled afternoon brought smiles, elation, suspended belief (the Deano goal) and a range of emotions some of us didn't even know we possessed.

But there was one moment above all others that showed West Ham THE FAMILY of those present and DEPARTED! It came when Dylan Tombides' brother Taylor burst forward and chipped in a magnificent effort – a strike of the highest quality at any level of the game.. He immediately looked upwards and pointed to the heavens dedicating his goal to a sibling brother who had died far too young. DYLAN HAD BEEN REMEMBERED ON THIS VERY SPECIAL DAY.

I thank Mark Noble for bringing so many former heroes back together, I thank him for the fun and entertainment, I thank him for his ongoing contribution to the Hammers cause and his dedication to our great club. But I was so glad that Dylan was remembered on a day that will live long in our memories. A young man who died far far too young was given his place this afternoon by a brother who made no secret of what that goal meant to him and his family. A great day – a truly great day.

Ian Bishop was thrilled to provide the assist for goal of the season qualifier from Dean Ashton in Mark Noble's fabulous testimonial this afternoon (Mon).

The great former midfielder was the oldest player on the pitch at 50 but barely looked a day older than when he was in his Hammers pomp.

And speaking exclusively to ClaretandHugh as he and the legends enjoyed a few bevvies after the game he said: "To play my part in a goal like that was a thrill -what a screamer that was. Good on the old boy."

Bish came on halfway through the second half defying the years with his physical shape and ability after flying in from his American home.

And he said: "It was the biggest crowd I've ever played in front of at the Boleyn because the capacity has been increased since my playing days. It was a beautiful afternoon and had a bit of everything – fun, emotion – it was all there.

"But Upton Park is all about the fans and they don't change as the years go by. They are as passionate now as they were in my day. What a bunch they are.

"Wherever you live – and I'm miles away and wherever you watch West Ham is family. Always has been – always will be and it was a pleasure and privilege to play out there for Mark today. It was great and he's a fabulous fella."

David Gold summed it up perfectly when declaring: "Mark Noble's testimonial transcended football – it was a wonderful day out for players old and new, their families and the fans. it was magical."

As another landmark event in the history of the Boleyn this was another classic as the players old and new took us on a magical mystery tour.

Sakho took selfies after scoring, Adrian notched with a run from one end of the pitch to the other plus the Dylan Tombides memorial goal from his brother Taylor.

And Gold – speaking exclusively to ClaretandHugh – said: "It was a fabulous day. It was all about West Ham the family. And there was great fun and emotion inside the ground- the atmosphere was fantastic.

"With only Hammers fans inside the ground the banter was great and it was wonderful for me too as a fan seeing former heroes and meeting some, like Ian Bishop, for the first time. It was a great day.

"In our last season it is another game for the fans to remember – the Boleyn has done really well in her last season to have so many great moments.

"And it was all for one of our best loved players, Mark Noble. It was another golden Boleyn day – totally memorable."

Noble's perfect "thank you" to fans

Mark Noble has spoken about his perfect day and his deep rooted affection for the fans after a brilliant testi monial event. Speaking to West Ham TV he said: "To be honest there are no words to describe how thankful I am of the fans. I'm going to sleep well tonight!" And of the fans he said: "They're the best, for sure – 36,000 for a Testimonial, it couldn't have gone any better.

Tonks' delight for 'top man' Mark
WHUFC.com

James Tomkins followed Mark Noble through the Academy of Football and has played first-team football with his friend for the past eight years…

It is brilliant for Mark to get the recognition he deserves for his time playing for the Club. The years he's been at the Club and the commitment he's shown, with the number of games that he's played, are there for everyone to see so he's done very well for himself. He's been through ups and downs with the team but this season he's progressed even further. I know he looks old, but he is still actually quite young, so he's getting better as he's getting older! I remember as a kid playing in the FA Youth Cup scoring an own goal at Gillingham, putting it right in the top corner of my own net. But Mark bailed me out from nowhere, as we were going to lose that game until he scored a screamer from about 25 yards. It went to extra-time and he scored again I think, so he bailed me out big time. I've bailed him out ever since! He helped me grow up when I first came into the team and he was a big reason why I settled there.
Nobes loves a joke around the place – that's him all over – and he's not happy unless he's bantering someone. He's good like that and he's excellent with the youngsters coming through. Everyone looks up to him as they have all seen him do it before. Not only all that, but he's a superb footballer. He's knocking on that England door at the moment and, like I said, he might look about 45 but he is still young! He's got years of learning left in him. Mark's a proud Dad and he's always been very mature in that way, too.

The ground is sold out and that shows that he's held in high esteem by everyone involved with West Ham. His Testimonial couldn't have worked out in a better way for him I don't think, so he'll love that he's saying farewell to the Boleyn with today's game too. We've had our highlights, and us arguing on the pitch at Everton was one of those for me! Also the Play-Off final was brilliant, and the next day I went on his stag-do, which was a great time for us. Mark – you're a top man and you fully deserve this.

Big Sam hails 'outstanding' Noble
WHUFC.com

Sam Allardyce managed West Ham United for four seasons between 2011 and 2015, guiding the Hammers back to the Barclays Premier League in 2012. During his tenure, he picked Mark Noble 150 times…

The big thing for me when I arrived in 2011 was to keep the big players at the Club after they got relegated. I don't know whether Mark ever wanted to leave or not, but he probably thought about it and the good thing was that he didn't!

Mark is one of a dying breed today in that he's spent the whole of his career, from a boy to a man and a great footballer, at West Ham and obviously his commitment to the Club is outstanding for me.

I've always had a huge amount of respect for him in that he gives everything that he's got, he's a great professional and he's a very, very good player and probably the only thing missing now is an international cap, which is a great shame.

But he can't have done anything more, certainly in the last three years, to earn that cap.

Mark's Testimonial will be a great day for him and the fans have obviously sold the ground out for him as he's one of their own.

Like I said, he's not just a really good footballer but a great man as well. I had a great four years with him. He taught me how to speak the Cockney language, which was pretty funny, trying to get to grips with it! But he gave me some good lessons so I could converse with him very well in the end.

Mark would have been captain if Kevin Nolan hadn't come to the Club. I could see a lot captaincy material in Nobes, and he picked up more of that from Kevin during the four years they played together.

He's not frightened about saying what he thinks and that's one of the problems in this modern age; Players don't verbally express themselves enough but Mark has an opinion and his opinion is valid. That's what makes him a good captain too.

He's knowledgeable about the game and he's got a lot of experience. He made his debut at a very young age and he's managed to sustain his playing days and he's one of the longest-serving players West Ham are ever going to have I think by the time he's finished and I think that all those qualities are things that he'll need to carry on going into the new stadium.

There's a next level coming now and that's going to demand a lot more from everyone at the Club, but Mark has the capability and the desire to rise to whatever level is expect of him.

I would like to wish Mark, his family and the fans a very successful Testimonial match.

From the Terraces
WHUFC.com

Maltese Hammers member Naomi Galea pays tribute to Monday's Testimonial recipient and West Ham United hero Mark Noble…

It seems like nowadays a lot of fans, pundits, former players and neutrals are seeing the hard work and effort Mark Noble puts in. He is getting recognised by everyone and so he should be.

A lot ask the question why he hasn't yet been chosen to play for the England side and it baffles me why Roy Hodgson hasn't given him a chance yet.

Firstly, his recent performances and statistics all show that he is probably one of the best, if not the best English player in his position. Secondly, I still remember very clearly when he captained the England Under-21 team to the European Championship final. His performance that day was outstanding and at a young age already showed signs of what a good captain he can be!

Although England lost on penalties they gave Germany a very tough job. From that German team, nine players now play for the senior squad regularly and all went to win the World Cup. Just James Milner gets picked from that English team which just shows where England, in my opinion, get it wrong! If Noble gets picked it's not by luck but by hard work and consistency in his performances for the Hammers!

I started following Mark right from when Alan Pardew gave him his debut. For some reason something told me he is going to do big things for us and I'm getting proven right!

My first memory of Nobes is at the Play-Off final against Preston in 2005. When Bobby Zamora scored he was warming up by the touchline and he was the first one to go celebrate by jumping on the back of Bobby, there and then he became my favourite player and nothing has changed ever since!

When first meeting him in 2008, I then knew what a nice guy he really is and you could see clearly the love he has for West Ham! That clearly came out in the Great Escape season! The passion he showed was incredible and I think there is nothing wrong when he cried against Tottenham when we lost 3-4.

I think that when your team is going through a tough time everyone can get a bit emotional and that day the West Ham fan in Mark Noble came out and in the last game of the season too when I saw him celebrate and cry at the end I couldn't help but get emotional myself!

As far as goals go, I can't pick a favourite because I like them all but if I had to choose three I would go for his first wonder goal versus Spurs, the one against Wolves and the stunning strike this year versus Norwich.

There is no need for me to tell you how good he is at taking penalties. He just steps up and does the job calmly and confidently. My favourite has to be the one against Liverpool at home in the dying minutes where we went on to win 1-0!

These last eleven years I always gave my Hammer of the Year vote to him not only because he's my favourite but purely because I think he deserves it! Now we are seeing the greatness of Mark!

He masters the dirty work, clears his lines and what can I say about the Mark and Dimi partnership? I just love it!

But it's not just that he's giving. He's doing his job in being a true leader and a good captain. He teaches the kids, makes new players settle in very quickly and keeps the team united and in my opinion a lot of the success we are having this season is partly because of the work Mark puts in on and off the pitch!

Meeting him back in Malta, my country, last year was just the cherry on the cake and just proved again what a great man he is!

So I think it's only deserving for him to have this Testimonial, as today not a lot of players reach such an important milestone, for the Club he plays and loves so much! I'm so pleased and happy that my favourite player is going to be the last ever captain to walk out a team at the Boleyn and the first one and the new Stadium!

Pride, passion, hard-working, consistency, loyalty and legend are all the words that spring to mind when I think of Mark Noble and West Ham are lucky to have found a player like him who plays for the badge and gives his all for the Club he loves!

Let's hope there are many more years of Mark in the famous Claret and Blue!

Come On You Irons! ⚒

Slav rates this striker so shouldn't that be enough?

Have to admit it came as something of a shock to me when discovering that less than one per cent of the 1700 plus who voted in a recent ClaretandHugh poll wanted Christian Benteke as the club's summer signing. Ok, he hasn't shown himself to be he striker he was at Villa a couple of seasons ago when grabbing 25 goals or indeed when he managed 11 from 28 in 2013-14. The following year it was up to 16 from 38 whilst under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool – which by the striker's own admission has been a 'mare – he's managed just eight from 36. There's reasons for that which he mentioned himself recently: "When your coach says he wanted to take you to Dortmund and a little later you sit at the same club and he ignores you it is hard to understand."
Benteke's apparent unsuitability for Klopp's intensive, high-pressing tactics has been debated for some time but the player rejects accusations he cannot fit in. "I find it bizarre, I do not understand why people say that," he added. "I can play pressing and moving a lot. It is not that we play in the Barcelona style. "In January I didn't want to leave and it's still my desire to do well here. We'll see at the end of the season."

Personally, I don't believe players at his age – 25 -with a track record of scoring plenty of goals – suddenly go bad. Life ain't like that.
There may be better options around but I don't know enough about the alternatives being mentioned to make a genuinely valuable judgement. What I do know is that Benteke has scored a lot of Premier League goals and that Slaven Bilic is an admirer as are several others in the West Ham hierachy. And that – given Slav's first season record with this club – really should be enough to convince us shouldn't it?

David Gold has thrown his weight behind moves to make Bobby Moore' Sir Bobby Moore.' With MPs from across all parties trying to make it happen on the 50th anniversary of England's wonderful World Cup victory, the co chairman has denied that this should be an impossibility. Currently the law doesn't allow posthumous awards but MPs are planning moves aimed at making it happen to honour the nation's greatest captain in a year when the achievement will be immortalised in a new film. A twitter follower, questioning the situation said in a tweet to Gold: "Massive fan of Bobby and he deserves every accolade, but as knighthood is just for life not sure if they could do this."

However, Gold, surely echoed the view of many when making it clear that there should defintely be a way of changing things. He said: "There are many deceased people that on reflection deserved a Knighthood its not beyond us to find a way. Dg

Chief Scout showdown: Henry v Glover

Former Head of West Ham recruitment, Martyn Glover appears to be going head to head with the new head of West Ham recruitment Tony Henry over their mutual interest in a Toulouse player. Glover left the Hammers to join Leeds in a similar role last summer following Allardyce's departure but he was quickly reunited with Big Sam earlier this year when he was appointed Head of recruitment at Sunderland with his old buddy. A story in the Daily Mail this morning suggests both West Ham and Sunderland are among a number of clubs showing interest in Toulouse forward Martin Braithwaite. The Premier League sides will be represented by scouts in the stands at Hampden Park on Tuesday when Braithwaite is expected to line up for Denmark against Scotland. The 24-year-old has been playing on the wing for Toulouse this season and has scored ten goals but his preferred position is as a central striker. Braithwaithe has one year left on his contract and wants the chance to play in the Premier League. It is said that Toulouse will listen to offers of around £4million.

One to watch - Ousmane Dembele
March 27, 2016
TheWestHamWay.co.uk
RJTHEGAME

OUSMANE DEMBELE
Age: 18 years
Nationality: French
Current Team: Rennes

This week we have one of the most exciting prospects in Europe right now.

At the young age of just 18 years old.... Ousmane Dembele has taken Ligue 1 by storm....putting in some exceptional performances against top clubs. He is a left winger who is always exploiting the spaces and running with the ball at speed. Most recently this was evident against Marseille away where Rennes won 5-2.
Ousmane looks to have it all so far! He has incredible pace and ball control. His ability to jink past players like they are not there and his composure in front of goal is what makes him such a major threat to any team. He seems to be adept at using either foot, is clever and knows how to hurt the opposition.

If he's this good now you have to think he is going to go from strength to strength and I'd be very surprised if a club doesn't move for him this summer. He is similar to Cristano Ronaldo, as in he is extremely direct and confident and his attributes give him that major edge when he gets on the ball. He makes really good decisions for a player for his age. Plays the game like a veteran already. Technically he looks very good, scoring some great goals, loves a shot and shouldn't be discouraged not too with his ability. He is one of the hottest prospects in the world right now and it would be a major coup for any club who signs Ousmane Dembele in the future! Personally of course hope he signs for West Ham but the competition would be huge, Bayern Munich and Barcelona seem to be leading the way for his signature at present.

Former West Ham United striker Teddy Sheringham has told The Mirror that he loves what he's seen from the Hammers this season. Sheringham, now 47, recently lost his job as manager of League Two strugglers Stevenage, and has looked back at his former club West Ham. The former England international striker hit 30 goals in 87 games during his time at Upton Park, and established himself as a fan favourite even after two spells with rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Now, Sheringham has spoken to The Mirror about West Ham's current state, given that they are enjoying one of their finest Premier League seasons to date. Led by former Hammers defender Slaven Bilic, West Ham are currently up in fifth place in the Premier League table, and sit just one point adrift of the top four, with Champions League qualification a very real prospect under Bilic. Playmaker Dimitri Payet has taken most of the plaudits, but the truth is that many West Ham players are impressing right now, with Aaron Cresswell, Mark Noble, Cheikhou Kouyate, Michail Antonio and Manuel Lanzini all deservedly earning praise.

Now, Sheringham has admitted that he 'loves' what he's seen from West Ham's performances this season, and highlighted the influence of Croatian manager Bilic, who has got the Hammers 'playing with a swagger' according to the former striker. "I love what they are doing and the way they are playing," said Sheringham. "Slaven Bilic has them playing with a swagger. They have done so well," he added.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has revealed that he wants to sign Besiktas star Gokhan Tore. Speaking to Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik in a recent interview Bilic said: "Everyone knows how much I like Tore he is an excellent player and I want him at West Ham." Bilic also stated that the Hammers are not currently in talks with Besiktas over the transfer of Tore. The former Besiktas manager did however, say that West Ham are not in direct talks which raises the question of whether negotiations are being being carried out through intermediaries. We are not in direct talks with Tore," he added. Tore is currently in Germany recovering from injury and is expected to return after the international break. The former Chelsea youngster excelled under the stewardship of Bilic who coached Besiktas for the past two seasons establishing himself as one of the most highly sought after players in the league. West Ham were linked with Tore over the summer but talks stalled after Besiktas ruled out selling the Turkish international winger. Tore still has another three years remanning on his contract but Besiktas president Fikret Orman has confirmed that the club will listen to offers at the end of the season.

France coach Didier Deschamps offers West Ham star Dimitri Payet further hope of Euro 2016 call-up
JAMES BENGE
Evening Standard

France coach Didier Deschamps has suggested Dimitri Payet will go to Euro 2016 if he continues his current run of form. The West Ham playmaker has enjoyed a remarkable debut season in the Premier League, contributing eight goals and as many assists as Slaven Bilic's side battle with the Manchester giants to claim a spot in the Champions League. Having been out of France contention since June 2015 Deschamps rewarded Payet's form with a callup and starting role in his side's 3-2 victory over the Netherlands in Amsterdam. Payet impressed from the off, hitting the post on the hour mark and offering enough to convince his international manager that he is worthy of consideration.
Payet will return from France duty 'a little taller', says Bilic. "If I take Payet, it is because I am sure he can bring something," Deschamps told Telefoot. "He has a unique ability and knows how to bring others into the game. "If he maintains the level he showed, the question of whether or not we take him to the Euros will no longer be asked."

A win away to Holland only served to enhance France's belief ahead of the European Championships, which they will host this summer. Along with Spain and Germany France are the favourites for the tournament but Deschamps warned both his team and his country not to get carried away with pre-tournament expectation. "I know the quality of each of the players and, when I have to make choices in this context, it is important that players have more playing time. "For Euro 2016, we must remain humble, but we have the ambition to go as far as possible. "I believe we have a competitive team. With the support of all our fans, we have to be stronger than our opponents."

Mark Noble: West Ham was like a circus before David Gold and David Sullivan bought the club
JAMES BENGE
Evening Standard

Mark Noble has praised the influence of West Ham co-chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan in turning the club into a stable organisation. When the former Birmingham City owners acquired their stake in West Ham in January 2010 the club was in crisis on and off the field, with a Icelandic consortium having struggled to offer any investment in the club as their country was caught in the midst of a financial crisis. West Ham were to be relegated the following season, finishing bottom of the 2010/11 Premier League, but bounced back immediately and established themselves as a top flight force under Sam Allardyce.
In his first season at the club Slaven Bilic has taken the Hammers to even greater heights; they are now competing for Champions League football and seem well-placed for their move to the Olympic Stadium next summer Noble believes that the recent success at the club is largely down to its current owners and hailed the influence they and vice-chairman Karren Brady have had at Upton Park. "The key word is stability," said the club captain. "In a way, the club was run like a circus in some stages over the last 10 or 20 years. "They have brought in good players and put in money and that was what was needed. That is why the club is moving the way it is. "We have had a tough ten years. We had the different people in charge, five or six different managers. Now it seems like the chairman and Karren Brady have done a great job of settling the club down – running it properly and that gives you a platform from which to move on, to progress. "They have brought in a great manager and, together, they have brought in great players. That is the way it should be done."

The 29-year-old Noble will celebrate his 10 years in the West Ham first-team with a testimonial match at the Boleyn Ground on Monday, where club legends including Paolo di Canio, Rio Ferdinand and Michael Carrick are set to appear.
