West Ham United have confirmed that Sam Allardyce's contract will not be
renewed this summer. The manager - who saw his side succumb to a
disappointing 2-0 defeat at St James Parl this afternoon - wasn't even given
the opportunity to break the news himself, as West Ham confirmed he will not
be retained as soon as the final whistle sounded. That move - dismissed by
some supporters as "classless" - meant that Allardyce had to face the press
with all fully aware he is now out of a job.

Sam Allardyce leaves West Ham - three minutes after season ends
West Ham confirm manager has left his post and they are searching for a
replacement within moments of final whistle at Newcastle

Sam Allardyce has left his position as West Ham manager just three minutes
after the club's season ended at Newcastle. The news was confirmed in a
tweet from West Ham's official Twitter account, posted moments after the
final whistle blew on their 2-0 defeat at St James' Park. The club have been
thwarted in their efforts to persuade Rafael Benitez to join, as the
Spaniard is set to take over at Real Madrid this week as the replacement for
Carlo Ancelotti. That means their attention is likely to turn to Steve
McClaren, Bournemouth's Eddie Howe, their former defender Slaven Bilic and
possible former Manchester United manager David Moyes.
