West Ham United statement
WHUFC.com
West Ham United have released a joint statement with Millwall FC
01.02.2012

West Ham United and Millwall would like to update supporters who are
planning to attend the West Ham United versus Millwall match at the Boleyn
Ground on Saturday 4 February. Both football clubs have been working closely
with the Metropolitan Police and the British Transport Police since August
to ensure fans of all ages enjoy an excellent afternoon of football. The
game between the two sides in 2009 was a testing occasion for all concerned
and many of the lessons learnt from that night have already been
implemented.

When the two teams met at The Den in September 2011 fans from both sides
supported their teams in exactly the right way; with passion and noise but
with respect for those around them. That helped to create an electric
atmosphere inside and outside of the stadium where the football was the main
talking point afterwards. It is hoped that fans attending the return game at
the Boleyn Ground will continue this positive attitude.

To help deliver a safe game for all there will be a complete alcohol ban in
the stadium and in all surrounding pubs and off-licenses. This ban
complements the existing Designated Public Places Order (DPPO) already in
place across the borough of Newham. While it is hoped and expected that fans
will behave in a respectful manner both inside the stadium and in the
surrounding areas, there will be a zero tolerance policy towards anybody who
attempts to cause disruption. There will be a large and noticeable police
presence on the day to ensure the safety of supporters and they will also
deal with any inappropriate behaviour quickly and robustly. Anybody causing
a disturbance can expect a lifetime ban from both clubs and possible
prosecution.

Captain apologises for Ipswich defeat
WHUFC.com
Kevin Nolan has said 'Sorry' to fans following Tuesday's shock result at
Portman Road
01.02.2012

Kevin Nolan has offered no excuses and apologised to West Ham United
supporters following Tuesday's 5-1 npower Championship defeat at Ipswich
Town. The captain admitted the Hammers had simply not performed on the night
at Portman Road and needed to put things right straight away when Millwall
visit the Boleyn Ground on Saturday. On a more positive note, Nolan welcomed
new signings Ricardo Vaz Te - a former team-mate at Bolton Wanderers - Ravel
Morrison and Nicky Maynard to the club.

Kevin, what went wrong at Ipswich Town?

"Well, eleven players didn't turn up for one. Two, we didn't do what we were
supposed to do and three, Ipswich were good. Their gameplan worked better
than ours and we were very poor. We can't get away from that. "There were
words said in the dressing room but one thing we have is togetherness and
we're going to stick together through the good, the bad and the ugly - and
that was ugly. "We've got to get on with it now and look forward because we
can't stew over it because we've got a big game on Saturday. Every game is a
big game, but obviously with it being a derby it's going to be tough. We've
got to make sure we're focused for that and give the fans what they deserve
after Tuesday night. "It must have been very disappointing for them and all
we can do is apologise for the performance and thank them for sticking with
us and we hope they continue to do so. Hopefully we will give them what they
deserve on Saturday."

When you prepare as dilligently as you do for matches, what contributes to a
result like we saw on Tuesday?

"It's very rare you get eleven players who just don't perform on the night.
We didn't and we've got to hold our hands up. We're all big enough to say we
didn't perform and Ipswich probably played the best game of their season.
"We've got to take it on the chin, bounce back from it and there's no better
way than by doing it against Millwall in a derby at home on Saturday in
front of 30,000 fans."

Saturday's visit of Millwall should provide you with the perfect incentive
to bounce back to winning ways?

"Yes, but it's going to be tough. Ipswich were around the bottom and
Millwall are around there, but there are no easy games in this league and
that's what we've got to learn. "As a squad we are still learning because
we've got a lot of young boys who have done fantastically well. After 28
games we're top of the league and where we wanted to be - albeit after a
very disappointing night. "We've got to take the positives over the season
and we can't dwell on just one game. Twenty-eight games in, if you asked any
fan where they wanted to be, they'd all say 'Top of the league' and we have
a two-point cushion, so it's nice. "We've got to look at it positively after
a very bad night at Ipswich and look forward to the next game. That's all we
can do - put this to bed as quick as we can and get back on that training
field and work our socks off to put it right on Saturday."

We have signed Ricardo Vaz Te - who you will know well - and Ravel Morrison.
What are your thoughts on their arrival?

"Obviously, I worked with Vaz for years at Bolton. We had him from a young
age, I think 16, up until when I left. He has undoubted ability and one who
excites the fans when he gets going. He'll score goals as we've seen in the
Championship with Barnsley this year. "I don't know much about Ravel
Morrison but I've heard a lot about him. He's an exciting young talent and I
know a few players at Manchester United who speak very highly of him so
hopefully he'll come here and give us something that we haven't got and will
add to the squad and excite the fans."

Olympic Stadium wanted by West Ham and 15 other parties
BBC.co.uk

West Ham are believed to be one of the 16 parties to have expressed an
interest in moving to the Olympic Stadium after the 2012 Games. The
Championship club had looked set to move into the venue but a deal with
Newham Council collapsed in October. The government opened a tender process
on 20 December and bidders have until 23 March to submit full proposals. The
Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) revealed the numbers after the 30 January
deadline passed.

A spokesperson for the OPLC said: "There have been 16 registrations from
parties interested in bidding to use the stadium after the Games. They now
have until 23 March 2012 to submit their full bids. "The Legacy Company
plans to appoint the winning bidders in May 2012 and remains on track to
reopen the venue in 2014."
Challenges from Leyton Orient and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as an anonymous
complaint to the European Commission, led to fears that the battle for use
of the stadium could go on for years. However, after West Ham's bid
collapsed it was decided that a new tender process would be opened in
December 2011 for an anchor tenant at the venue and the government revealed
the stadium would remain in public ownership. The OPLC also reiterated that
the athletics track remaining in place is a non-negotiable part of the
process. The spokesperson added: "Each successful bidder will add to the
athletics legacy already secured for the stadium, including the new national
centre for athletics and host of the 2017 World Athletics Championships."

A total of 16 parties have registered their interest in moving to the
Olympic Stadium, with West Ham believed to be one of the organisations
preparing a bid. The original deal for the Hammers to take over the
Stratford venue collapsed last October amid concerns over delays caused by
the legal dispute with Tottenham and Leyton Orient. The new bidding process
to use the stadium commenced in December, with West Ham currently the
favourites to move in as tenants. However, the Olympic Park Legacy Company
(OPLC) have confirmed that they would accept a ground-share bid from a rugby
and football team. OPLC also stated that retaining the running track was
non-negotiable. A spokesperson for the OPLC said: "There have been 16
registrations from parties interested in bidding to use the stadium after
the Games. They now have until March 23 2012, to submit their full bids.
"The Legacy Company plans to appoint the winning bidders in May 2012 and
remains on track to reopen the venue in 2014. "Each successful bidder will
add to the athletics legacy already secured for the stadium, including the
new national centre for athletics and host of the 2017 World Athletics
Championships."

Tottenham have scrapped their plan to challenge West Ham for the venue and
have instead recommitted to their initial plan for a new stadium known as
the Northumberland Development Project (NDP).

Morrison targets promotion
Hammers new boy keen to get the fans on their feet
Last Updated: February 1, 2012 9:37am

Ravel Morrison is hoping to help West Ham United win promotion to the
Premier League after completing a move to Upton Park from Manchester United.
The teenage midfielder signed a three-and-a-half year contract at West Ham
on deadline day after being the subject of a bid from Newcastle United
earlier in the transfer window.
Morrison had made two substitute appearances in the Carling Cup for the Red
Devils this season, but was out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of
the campaign.
He is happy to have linked up with Sam Allardyce's side and the talented
18-year-old is eager to impress the Hammers faithful. "I'm really pleased to
have signed," Morrison told the club's official website. "The move has
happened very quickly and I'm looking forward to hopefully moving up to the
Premier League with West Ham soon. "I'm an attacking player and I'm hoping
to get the fans on their feet. "I met with Sam Allardyce this morning and he
welcomed me to the club. "I also played with Robert Hall in the England team
and I know him well so that will be really helpful to have someone here that
I know."

Seething Sam Allardyce to throw in new boys after capitulation

Two of West Ham's deadline day signings, strikers Nicky Maynard and Ricardo
Vaz Te, look likely to go straight into their squad for Saturday's London
derby against Millwall as Sam Allardyce attempts to repair the damage from
the 5-1 defeat at Ipswich. Manchester United's tempestuous teenager Ravel
Morrison may have to wait a little longer for his debut though, as Allardyce
takes time to settle him into his new environment. "I think he's better out
of Manchester," said United manager Sir Alex Ferguson. "Sam will look after
him."

Morrison, who was given a referral order last year for witness intimidation,
has frustrated Ferguson with his wage demands and disciplinary problems but
said today: "The move has happened very quickly and I'm looking forward to
hopefully moving up to the Premier League with West Ham soon. "I'm an
attacking player and I'm hoping to get the fans on their feet."

Allardyce, who admitted he was shocked by his side's inept display at
Ipswich, said: "Hopefully we can develop him very quickly into the first
team, as we've done with others. "A few weeks of working with him will tell
me about his psychological side and if his brain and attitude are good then
his talent will come flooding out. If he's good enough he'll be old enough."

The West Ham manager revealed though, that both Maynard and Vaz Te will not
have to wait too long for their debuts and that all positions in his team
are up for grabs. "Most of the players have put their positions in jeopardy
with that performance although maybe I'll given them another chance to put
it right, like we normally have," he said. I'll sort out the defensive side
- I think this was a one-off - but Nicky Maynard and Ricardo Vaz Te will
come into the frame straight away because they're proven goalscorers already
this season in this division. "I'm bitterly disappointed. I didn't expect
such a poor performance defensively because it's been our ultimate strength,
particularly away from home. "As a defensive unit we disintegrated in the
first half leaving Ipswich, who came out of the blocks quicker than we did,
to exploit the gaping holes that we left in the back four. Allardyce was
also critical of the fixture schedule on transfer deadline day. "I had been
in close touch with things but in the end I had to switch off the 'phone and
focus on the match. "I think the Football League and whoever is in their
administration department, should really look at themselves for arranging
fixtures on the last day of the transfer window. It was a really poor
decision by whoever made it. As professional as they are I thought they
would not have allowed that to happen. The window is bad enough as it is but
to have fixtures on the last day of the window is a really bad thing."

The contest was effectively over by half-time when Ipswich, who hadn't won
for eight matches, went 3-1 up through Michael Chopra, Daryl Murphy and a
Lee Martin penalty. Jack Collison headed West Ham's goal. Things were little
better after half-time with former Arsenal player Jay Emmanuel-Thomas adding
two more. "Jay can go from a world beater to a panel beater in the space of
five minutes," said Ipswich manager Paul Jewell, "but he did very well
against West Ham."

Pick of the deals
The best buys from the Football League brought into focus

Premier League spending may have been down on previous campaigns but there
was no lack of deals being done further down the football pyramid. In the
Championship those chasing the Promised Land splashed the cash, with West
Ham in particular making some eye-catching signings. Here, Nick Hext gives
his verdict on the best buys from the Championship all the way down to
League Two. Have your say on our picks and offer your own by filling in the
feedback form below.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Nicky Maynard - Bristol City to West Ham - undisclosed

This is the pick of the deals on a busy deadline day at West Ham. Maynard
oozes class in the Championship and he brings guaranteed goals to Upton
Park. It wasn't a surprise to see various Premier League clubs linked with a
swoop for his services so this acts as a real statement of intent from Sam
Allardyce. Expect the Hammers now to convincingly secure a spot in the top
two.

Best of the rest: Ravel Morrison (Man Utd to West Ham), Ben Marshall (Stoke
to Leicester), Adam Smith (Tottenham to Leeds), Wes Morgan (Nottingham
Forest to Leicester)

GOLD AND SULLIVAN.TAKE A BOW

So as I write this its dead-line day. And West Ham are committing to it in a
commendable fashion. With all the current issues/problems we're experiencing
putting the ball in the back of the net; a glut of attacking talent is
seemingly on its way to Upton Park, with the likes of Ravel Morrison, Nicky
Maynard, Ricardo Vaz Te and Ze Eduardo all on the verge of signing.Relying
on Mark Noble penalties and clinging on to one goal leads could soon be a
thing of the past.

At a time when many Hammers fans were beginning to doubt Gold and Sullivan
and the sincerity of their attempted transfers; after missing out on
Jelavic, Sordell and Rhodes.the amazing and exciting news which greets us
this dead-line day has proved their doubters wrong. I must say I was amazed
at how limited the vision of some Hammers fans were; 8 million for Rhodes
was ridiculous, 8 million for Jelavic was excessive, promotion back to the
promised land didn't rest solely with these players. The market has been
scoured and it looks like we're definitely going to get more bang for our
buck.

It's always better to strengthen from a position of strength and it doesn't
get much stronger than being top of the league, we're sending a chilling
message out to the rest of the Championship that we do not intend toil at
this level like Portsmouth and Leeds have. Instead we intend to head
straight back to Premier League and take the title with us. I can only
imagine what Southampton, Cardiff and the rest of the chasing pack are
thinking/pondering as we look to seal off one of the automatic promotion
spots and leave them all scrapping over the other one.

Nothing is a certainty in football. But with 19 games to go, we already were
in the possession of the best squad in the league, we were already top and
clear by three points and now we're significantly strengthening the squad as
well as keeping hold of all our key players.anyone else feeling a looming
sense of inevitability?
Gold and Sullivan.take a bow.

West Ham one of 16 parties vying to take over London Olympic Stadium
. Original deal for West Ham to move in collapsed in October
. New bidding process to use stadium opened on 20 December
guardian.co.uk, Wednesday 1 February 2012 10.33 GMT

West Ham United are one of 16 parties interested in moving to the Olympic
Stadium after this summer's London Games. The original deal for West Ham to
take over the Stratford venue collapsed in October amid concerns over delays
caused by the legal dispute with Tottenham Hotspur and Leyton Orient. The
new bidding process to use the stadium opened on 20 December and closed on
30 January. West Ham remain favourites to become the tenants, although the
Olympic Park Legacy Company confirmed it would accept a ground-share bid
from a football and a rugby team, and said retaining the athletics track was
non-negotiable. A spokesperson for the OPLC said: "There have been 16
registrations from parties interested in bidding to use the stadium after
the Games. They now have until 23 March 2012 to submit their full bids. The
Legacy Company plans to appoint the winning bidders in May 2012 and remains
on track to reopen the venue in 2014. "Each successful bidder will add to
the athletics legacy already secured for the stadium, including the new
national centre for athletics and host of the 2017 World Athletics
Championships."

Spurs, meanwhile, scrapped their plan to challenge West Ham to become
tenants and have instead committed themselves to their initial idea for a
new stadium known as the Northumberland Development Project.
